I really don't like the stock single stick. It gets blazing hot when trying to unhook it. I added to my last two cars, hydraulic hood props and they work great
any retailers?
do the Lincoln's come with?

Owner of a new 2010 SEL FWD. On my first fill up I noticed while filling the pump would shut off early. Looking how many kilometers I had driven that with the amount of fuel I put in didn't make sense. It cut out at 35 liters but I was sure it should take more so I slowly started the pump and only to have the pump shut off again. I eventually went from 35 liters to 50 before I gave up, stopping and starting, no fuel spilled out, even pulled the nozzle out a bit to allow air to escape. I have been to 2 different stations and used different pumps only to find no difference, pump shuts off early. Has anybody noticed this with their Edge? slow fill up? cutting out early? With my previous cars I never had this problem.
Did a search couldn't find anything. Found this on Edmunds
I have the same problem with my 09. I fill up with the dispenser on the first notch, when it clicks off it still takes about 3 gallons to fill it up. The last 3 gallons or so have to be done verrrrry slowly.

I have 2008 that is creme burlee and gets dirt and water throwed on side. Will factory front mud flaps stop this?
They will help, but you will still get some splash on the black plastic lower door panels.
If you decide to get the splash guards, drill and install an extra screw in the inside corner of each guard. Mine were flapping in the wind, about to drive me crazy. I installed the extra screws and solved the problem.

Not sure what the difference is and why they are better, maybe someone could explain. I have no problem changing them out.
The LED bulbs use much less electricity. As a result they produce much less heat. The biggest drawback is that the computer that controls the flasher is fooled into thinking your bulbs are burned out. It flashes faster to alert you to what it sees to be a problem.
There has been a post saying the dealer could switch the alert function off.
-
Looks like a false alarm. Dealer told me that the bulb is aftermarket, not Ford and that it must have been changed before I bought it. Said it was too big and why it blew and melted and charred the socket. Said wires and socket are fine.
Did you read all 5 pages of the post you referenced? Many of us have had the same problem and many have switched to LED bulbs.
I'm not saying you have a problem, but after reading about others with burnt sockets, I checked mine and they had already discolored with only 9000 miles.

I'm in the market, and deciding between the Limited and SEL. Sync is the only must have for me, with a strong preference for leather and a slight preference for the power liftgate. No interest in the 20's, awd, the vista roof, or the nav unit.
Am i really giving anything up going with the SEL instead of the Limited other than some trim levels?
We found a better price on an LTD with the lift gate and standard leather than an SEL with the same options.

09 LTD FWD
Few little things I would change, but for the most part I LOVE THIS CAR!

I'm curious why did you think the FL400s would work?
I few years ago when I switched back to Ford.
For the first oil change I was surprised to find out that the good ole FL1 was NOT the filter I needed.
ab
I, too removed my filter, drained my oil, preped my new FL400 filter (that my owners manual called for) only to find it was the wrong filter. Being a Sunday, the Ford dealer was closed so I found a Wix to fit at Advance.
The only place I've been able to find the FL500 is at the dealer.

Same for me too... except mine asks if I want to run a status check or something like that.... has now done it 3 times in less than 2 months... I was wondering if this is a common thing &/or a recall type thing?
Mine did that untill I guess it got tired of asking. It said to press the "OK" button if I wanted the report. I found the button and pressed it but never heard or saw a report.

That's an industry term. Anyways, I have the memory Seat and Mirrors set up for me, and memory 2 for the bride. BUT...whenever it's my turn to drive, and I hit the button for me, the seat adjusts just fine, but the mirrors never do. Sometimes I can hit the No. 1 button 3 or 4 times, and the mirrors return to my position, but most of the time I just readjust and reset. Anyone else having this problem? Anything the stealer can do?
Having the memory seat was one of the many things that sold me on the Edge. Now I wish there was a way to disable the annoying thing. It has never worked right.

I had the driver side turn signal go bulb go out last week......same charring and melting as stated by others. I did not receive a bulb out warning , just the fast clicking. I guess the bulb wasn't totally out as the same bulb controls when the lights are on just has 2 filaments inside the single bulb. Anywho, should you get the "bulb out" warning with the turn signal/brake light not working ?
The fast clicking is the warning.

I was in a parking garage over the weekend and my Sirius reception was as good as on the highway.
Mine works great in the concrete parking at work but my wood frame garage at home blocks it out.

Good day to all,
On my last shop visit 20,000km check, I had my left hand brake tail light bulb replaced due due it was busted and socket was partially melted. They replaced the busted bulb and is now okay. But, I didn't check if they also replace the socket. I should have asked them before I got my car. So, seems this is normal to all ford edge or this should not?
manny
Sorry to say, it looks like it's normal. I checked mine at 9000 mi. and they had started to burn. Replaced them with LEDs and solved the problem.

My buddy works at a car dealership and has been looking for me, I was originally going to get a limited but I have decided I will get a sel with the features I like from the limited, mostly just the leather seats and the dual climate control. Seeing as not much has really changed inside or out from the 07 to the 09, I am going to get what ever the best deal is with 35k miles or less, hoping to keep the loan under 25k.
We thought we might save money on a new Edge by getting the features we wanted on an SEL. When we got it priced, we found that the Limited was actually less expensive. Whatever you decide, I know you'll love your Edge as much as we do.

Newbee here from WI where it's currently -2 degrees Fahrenheit the day after a 10" snow storm. You're jealous of me, aren't cha? LOL

Did anyone see on MSN that the Edge was the second most sold CUV in 2009?
Kind of hard to believe because you really don't see that many on the road in this part of the country, as compared to other CUVs.

Though the "rust" kind of sounds like an excuse to me, I think maybe it "could" be possible in an extreme situation. I have never, in my life , experienced this on any new car or truck I've owned, and I've owned a lot LOL. IMO, rust has nothing to do with this and I believe it is more of a characteristic of the Edge, due to the material this particular pad is made from. My son bought his new F150 the same day, a two car deal so to speak, his does not do it. I know, I'll hear, it's truck brakes. It's annoying if anything else and I know it won't hurt anything.
I've noticed it many times, not only on my Edge, but on my company car as well. It usually happens on rainy or damp days and when the brakes are applied the second time the grinding is gone.

Thanks,
This has really opened my eyes.
So has anyone had problems with the FWD only Edge's, 2007-2009?
Or should I stay away from the Edge all together
Most of the major issues I've seen on this forum have dealt with the AWD models. With the exception of burned tail light sockets, my 09 LTD FWD has been a pleasure to own and drive.

Could I get you to buy me a "Power Ball" ticket?
They cut us off a day early, BUT now they want us back $20 for 5 months.
ab
That sounds like a much better price than what I was offered. Is that price for the full package?

In my opinion Ford also needs to re-work the dash with better dash lighting, better materials such as soft touch door and dash panels all around and please dont forget the very bad radio display (one line and Crown Vic green type lighting). The cosole armrest also needs to be updated with better materials and slide function. Some lights in the console and glove box would also be welcome. My lease is up in 2011 and I know that I am satisfied with the looks and somewhat satisfied with the performance of my 08 awd but Ford needs to be proactive with upgrades and changes.
I agree with your assesment of the dash/console, but I would add a complaint about the cupholders. About the only thing that works well is a pop can. I can't find a coffee cup that fits well.

as I remember from the last time I changed the oil in my 09, it was a 15 MM

Jack, hope you love yours as much as I do mine. Love the color. The one we found with the options we wanted turned out to be dark ink blue. We like the color, but living on a gravel road it's a full time job to keep it clean.

My 09 and a friends '10 have both done the same thing. After a recharge, neither have done it again and no problem was ever found.
