  1. Anybody have any news on this? I got the limp mode two times in about two weeks about a year ago. Dealer could not pull codes so they said they can't do anything. I talked to a regional guy, and if it happened again he would loan me a "flight recorder" but it has not happened again. Today I took it in for an oil change and tire rotation (53k miles, 2011) and the service guy said an induction cleaning is recommended. I said no and later looked in my manual and there is no reference to induction cleaning as regular maintenance at any mileage. Additionally on the nhtsa.gov website there are a LOT of complaints about this problem of limp mode/wrench symbol. I have 6,100k ESP)

  2. 11 Edge Advance Trak problem happened to me, there is a TSB, dealer fixed it with software change. Wrench and power loss seems like what has happened to me twice and has happened to other people: throttle boddy. Dealer won't do anything until they can find an error code, adn error codes clear when you turn off the car, but restarting is the only way to get it to run again. Report it at nhtsa.gov, click on file a complaint. A lot of people have reported it there and it is on other posts here. I have an ESP, but dealer can't get approval to change throttle body under ESP and I am not paying for a new one. 45,000 miles

Dealer told me that they thought it was a throttle body but could not change it unless they got approval from Ford (Edge under ESP, about 40,000 miles when it first happened) and without proof, they would just be randomly changing stuff out. I escalated to a regional, and they offered to get me a "flight recorder" put in my car if it happened again, but it hasn't in several months.

  4. Happened twice on my 11 Edge but dealer won't do anything until they can duplicate it and once you restart it removes error codes. Seems to be throttle body. Report it to nhtsa.gov. There are a fair number of reported incidents there. Maybe Ford will see the bad PR GM is getting with a dozen people killed and issue a recall or at least a TSB

  5. 2011 Edge, ever since I updated to the latest version of MFT, ambient lighting will stay whatever color I choose for a few days/week, then all of a sudden it is off and at the default color. I set it back to the color I want and it defaults again. Also, my radio/satellite presets are back to being blank ( 3 or 4 of the 6 per screen) at random times, which just started in the last few weeks, although I have had latest version for a while. I had this problem A LOT on earlier versions but it had seemed to have been resolved on version before current. It's always something.

  6. Sorry akirby, that is Fusion, Escape, Milan and Mariner. I reported it on NHTSA website and I also called Ford Corporate, they will have a regional person call within a couple of days. I am trying something on my own. Since I have to turn the car off then on to have it run correctly, it clears any error codes. Dealer won't replace anything without an error code, especially under warranty. I am going to send a vehicle health report when it happens, with engine still running, to see if it sends error code, dealer nor Ford knows if it will. I tried it today when it happened, but I sent another report after restart for a comparison. When I checked syncmyride, it only holds the last report, over-writes any previous, so it shows the good one after restart. Dealer even says it is probably throttle body, but without the codes, nothing.

  7. Does anybody know if there is a TSB for the Driver's Door open/closed switch? About half of the time I get the alert message of door ajar and I need to open and SLAM the door closed. I thought I saw somewhere on here of people having problems. I haven't looked, but does the switch come out easily? Easily replaced? Would a good shot of contact cleaner help?

  8. I have an 11 Edge and that indicator turned on for the first time about 9 months ago. It will turn off after a few seconds/minute. I took it to the dealer after the first time and they told me there was a software fix coming out for it 1st quarter of 13. I never took it back but it still comes on occasionally.

    I need to takeit back. I took it in the first time within the warranty so they better honor that.

  9. It's got to be in the way you are driving, as I do about 60-70 % highway, go over 60/65/70 and I get about 23-24 mpg. There is even a spot where I can semi-regularly punch it up to 100 mph and I usually do that once per tank. I get better mileage in my 11 Edge than I got with my 3.0L 05 Escape.

  10. I have had the 2.4 update at the dealer, but sync my ride shows that I have the following update available, and in an email from dealer service dept, they said I should do the available update and I can do it myself

    I have no problem doing it myself, but has anybody done this update? What does it do? I am having few, rare problems: occasionally my Blackberry takes a while to sync, or my main screen has gone black a couple of times. It comes back on 30 seconds(?) later or I turn car off/on.

     

    I just don't want to create problems.

  11. I haven't really been on the boards lately so I will apologize in advance if this has been discussed somewhere already. I got a call from my dealership informing me that an upgrade was now available and I could make an appointment to come in and have it done - 2 to 2 1/2 hrs to get it done. The thing is I've never had any issues so I'm thinking maybe I should skip it. What do you guys think? Is there an advantage to getting it that I'm maybe not thinking of?

    Ask them if they have done the update with other Edge's and how long it took. Mine was in for a day and a half, but I got a free rental out of it. If they haven't done any, I would wait.

    Guess I'll have to put up with what I have for a while. Can't afford to lose another days work right now. Working on a special project at work and it's all hands on deck. Plus the 50 mile round trip cab fare is expensive. It took them 9-1/2 hrs. to do the upgrade on Friday. So I took a cab home and back. When I returned Friday night the shop was closed. Picked up my keys in the showroom, so I couldn't talk to anybody.

     

    Guess I'll get out my old Sirus receiver and dashtop Garmin until I can get this fixed.

    I hate the purple color.

    "Cab fare"? When I took my Edge in for the dealer MFT update, I got a free loaner car for as long as it would take (1.5 days) There should be no reason why you shouldn't get a loaner
