  1. I have a 2008 Edge Limited. It consistently gets 21-23 around town and 24-25 on highway. At one point on a trip it was getting 27 going 55 MPH. I am very pleased so far. I've owned it since October 2007.

  2. OK.......here's what I did and it seems to have fixed it. While I was waiting for my husband to get home, I finally got it to select "power lift gate off" on the message display and I shut it manually. Then I reset it to "power lift gate on" and the lift gate shut properly. I'm thinking it reset it somehow.

  3. We are having warm weather. i returned from shopping and hit the close button but it pops right back up as soon as it hits the bottom. I checked for any obstructions. There is a way to disengage power to lift gate but it won't allow me to do it because it is stuck in open position. Yes....I will have to get it to dealer with it open, I guess. Disappointing!

  4. Yes!!!

That is strange...I hear the same thing, I noticed it while backing out of my garage, it was echoing in there. I called Ford, and I told them to check it out. Told them it almost sounded like a rock stuck in my rim somewhere.

    Wonder what this is...

Very surprised now knowing someone else is hearing the same exact noise...Left rear wheel...

    I have a 2008 White Sand w/ 20's

I am taking it to Ford in the morning!

Have you learned anything about the popping noise in left rear tire? I have not taken mine in yet. I forget about it because when the windows are up, I don't hear it

  5. When my 2008 Edge Limited hit "50 miles until empty" the fuel low alarm chimed......just like in my 2004 Expedition. I deliberately let fuel get low yesterday to see if there was an alarm chime and it did happen as soon as it hit below 50 miles.

  6. The SYNC in my Edge is working perfectly except for Text Messaging. I have an Apple iPhone which has the Text Messaging function and I am able to send and receive text on the phone. However, when I select Text on SYNC it reads "the connected phone does not support text messaging" on the display. Does anyone have any ideas why since obviously the iPhone has Text Messaging function? Thanks.

Keep me informed. We are going away for Thanksgiving so I cannot take it in before next week. Other than that I'm really enjoying the car...how about you?

'08 Vapor Silver Limited FWD - 20s, also (Hmmmm......could that be it?)

  8. It won't text message or do virtual voicemail! Phone, Contacts, & Call History Only. The more I use Sync the more I'm convinced it could be a whole lot better with a MAJOR software update. Right now it really doesn't stand out from any other vehicle systems that have Bluetooth & control an MP3 player. I wouldn't go out of my way to have Sync but I would for Bluetooth and MP3 player functionality.

I do not have any problems using SYNC with my iPod. It displays the music library and switches between artist, album, track, etc with voice command. With the iPhone, it is all in one so I just plug into USB and leave iPhone in the console and I'm good to go. I don't text message anyway but I realize many people do.

  9. My Apple iPhone works fine with SYNC (after I changed text of contacts from capitals). The iPod function displays the music library and the iPhone function displays all my contacts.........I have not tried text message yet. The SYNC option has been great for me because I no longer fumble around with my phone trying to dial a number which I can't see because I can't find my reading glasses!

  10. Have you solved your problem? If not please answer the following questions so I can help you diagnose the problem:

    • Did you download the phonebook when you paired your phone?
    • Are all your contacts in the iPhone phonebook capital letters?
    • Can you browse the phone book from the screen on SYNC?
    • Which name did it recognize?

p.s. In answer to your other question: when I had all capitals for the contacts, the only name it recognized was Van but she pronounced it V-Ann. Now it makes sense because the SYNC was reading the capital letters as separate words thus "V AN" instead of Van. It was an easy fix thanks to a nice lady at customer service!

Yes..........someone from Ford customer service called and we figured out I had all my contacts in iPhone listed in capital letters. The SYNC took each letter as a separate word. After I went through and corrected the text, it has worked perfectly ever since. My only question now would be about prompting? I backed it down to the fewest prompts but she still asks "phone, is that correct?" almost every time.

Thank you for your inquiry. SYNC has made driving a pleasure for me.........hands free for my phone and iPod which are all-in-one with an iPhone. It is the best option on my car! I LOVE it!

  12. When using SYNC, you need to tell it what device you'd like to hear (AM, FM, CD, USB, etc)...so what I mean by "clunky" is that you must activate SYNC, then the "voice" recites all of the options before you are permitted to make a selection. This is great the first time you use it, however I don't need to hear the entire list everytime I wish to use my ipod. Since your ipod plugs into the USB connection, which is at the end of the list, you must wait for all of the recitation before it will accept your selection. It would seem that you should just be able to hit the button and say "USB", then whatever artist you wish to hear.

Remember that this is new, so there be a shortcut or two that we have not yet discovered...however there is a readout on the Nav screen that says "listening" when it is time for you to talk. This does not display until after all of the options are read.

The White Sand is fantastic...very deep, metallic-looking and slightly off-white.

You can select not to have so many prompts on SYNC once you learn the system. However, it still may prompt you if she doesn't understand your command.

  13. oops.....meant to upload this. The color has a lot of metallic so in the sun it looks very silver but other times it has a smoky silver look. I've never had a silver car but I really love the color. I will take pic of interior later.

  14. I just received my '08 FWD Limited which we ordered with 20" wheels. I, too, was reluctant to order the chrome clad wheels because we both liked the painted aluminum better. However, my husband liked the idea of the larger wheel with Perelli tires. We were pleasantly surprised when it arrived with Sport Tuned Suspension listed on window sticker next to 20" wheel option. I believe if you google "Ford Sport Tune Suspension" it will bring up info about stabilizer bar, springs, etc.

I have to say..... as nervous as I was about the chrome clad, it actually looks great with the Vapor Silver. I love the car and the way it drives. I have been driving Ford SUVs for 16 years and before that a full size Ford Van. My husband drives an F150 and has his 1st car which is a '67 Mustang and a 427 Cobra (Contemporary kit car from the 1980s).

Mine is a FWD Limited (Vapor Silver/Lt Stone Interior) with all options except DVD. The Navigation works perfectly but I am having trouble with Sync recognizing names when i say "call <name>". I need to find a phone number with Ford to help resolve this issue. Other than that, I am very happy so far!

  15. I just picked up my new '08 Edge (Vapor Silver) last night. Everything seems to be working well except the function in which I am suppose to be able to say "call <name>"and it calls that person. I have an Apple iPhone which is on Sync list. The voice command responds to my iPod (part of iPhone) and works perfectly. And it will dial a number by command but the command "call" does not work. It did "pair sucessfully" with my phone and downloaded all my contacts. I am very frustrated but not sure where to turn. I think the product is too new for the dealers to know a good fix.

I love the color and it is very nice to drive. The Navigation works like a charm! Any advice or ideas from others out there who have gotten Sync?

    Thanks.
