  1. Has anybody installed Goodridge Stainless Steel brake hoses?

As my 2008 Edge is aging, I have noticed that the brakes are starting to feel mushy and soft.

I have personally bled the brakes and the feeling has not changed.

Will these hoses give this vehicle a bit more feel to the brakes?

Is the master cylinder the soft source?

I have driven my buddy's 2011 Edge and it feels very, very different.

  2. Hey everybody, my dad's former high school is in a contest to win prize money from Universal Technical Institute.

We need everybody here to vote for the school. The top prize is $25,000 to renovate the auto shop.

Here is an email from the school explaining the vote.

Ladies and gentlemen, Old Bridge High School has entered a contest with Universal Technical Institute for an automotive shop makeover. Automotive, TV production and chorus classes entered a music video featuring why we should win a shop makeover. The top prize to the automotive program is $25,000 to renovate our aging shops.

The final 6 schools have been selected and Old Bridge is in the running for the top prize.

We need your help voting, so our school can claim the grand prize. The voting starts Friday 2/25/11 to Friday 3/4/11. There is only one week to vote, so we don't have a lot of time to dominate the voting servers.

Please click on the link below, follow the directions and vote for Old Bridge High School. You need to add your email address. If you have multiple email addresses, please think about voting two or three times.

Thank you so much for helping our students receive this most prestigious award. They certainly have earned it.

Please forward this email to everybody in your email list. The more votes, the happier we may become.

    Thanks everybody.

  3. The noise you are probably hearing are the cam phasers.

My 2008 does it when cold, then after warm up, it goes away. It does this for about 4 minutes or so.

My Ford dealer told me that these phaser noises are normal. We even went outside and checked a 2008 and 2010 Ford with the 3.5L engine.

One was a Taurus X, the other an Edge.

I just make sure that synthetic oil is installed every 5 months or so.

I have to admit that was not the answer I was looking for, but for my own protection, I keep with the synthetic.

  4. Just to let you know, those cam phasers in the 3.5L engine NEED 5w20 oil to have them actuate the way they should. The tolerances inside of the phaser are extremely tight. 5w30 is too thick. 5w20 regardless of synthetic, blend or old fashioned dinosaur oil is what will keep your engine from getting pulled and having those phasers replaced.

Yes the engine needs to be pulled to replace them.

Stick with what the oil cap states, change it often with a good filter and you should never have any issues.

  5. The filter element is a fairly flimsy and open pored fabric filter - since it looks just like the element in my computer chassis I simply rinsed mine in the sink and reinstalled.

Still don't get a lot of air flow myself.

So what can we do to our 07'-08' Edges to retro over the A/C concern to the new level?

    New blower motor? New ductwork?

  6. So instead of refilling the system with the Gold coolant, can you fill the system with distilled water, flush it out, then add the new Ford Green coolant?

This may be a way to prevent the heater core issue in the first place.

Does anybody know if this is a valid alternative?

  7. at the bottom of the post it has "Attachments" just below that is has a box that reads "Choose File" click on that box and it should open up your computer and you find the pic that you want to attach and click the blue box "Attach This File" and it should work.

I did exactly as you posted and the pictures will not upload. No message for an error. Nothing. It will just post the text not the pictures.

Do I need to download any software or something like that? Is it an AOL thing?

    Thanks.

  8. I purchased an Edge SE and was very unhappy with the interior material on the seats. After doing some research I found that Cover King makes custom seat covers.

I took a chance and ordered them. Top Notch!!!!!

They cover the light material and actually look presentable for slip-on covers.

If your like me and are unhappy with the light stone interior that our trucks have, you may want to give them a shot.

Just ordered there rear cover. They are making it as we speak.

  9. not only did mine do this. but it became grossly "sticky" - they replaced it free for me. it was not sun fading, it was some sort of bad defect on the rubber on mine.

My insert did the same as well. The dealer replaced it. If you have to buy it, it only costs about $20. I have another as a spare in the garage so when the new one fades, I can just whip it out and replace it.

No need to stop again at the dealer.

  10. Just read the procedure from the Ford Dealer the other day.

I was strolling around the dealer and got chummy with technician.

The service procedure is over 100 operations long. The flushing agent is some sick and scary stuff. It is designed to unclog the heater core.

The procedure looks extremely complex with flushing with this adapter, blocking hoses, removing metal pipes from the engine, ventilating the hoses, back flushing and rinsing.

Then you flush with distilled water, and refill with this new GREEN coolant that Ford is using in other vehicles.

The dealer will NOT do it just because you got the letter. I am willing to bet my right arm on that one.

The technician was cursing up a storm when going through the procedure.

Can we do something to prevent the heater core from clogging in the first place?

He was not sure about just changing the coolant from Gold to the new Green stuff.
