  1. Hey everyone!

My wife and I just got home from purchasing our 2010 Ford Edge. I have owned Ford trucks since I started driving in 1987, so I am happy to have another Ford in the family.

This one is the pearl white color, with all leather interior in a brownish tan color. Ford calls it platinum white and camel on the interior. It has all the options available, including the navigation unit.

I look forward to hanging around and learning more about our Edge.

Wow! Sounds like you got it all done up! I also got the Platinum White but with black leather. My dealer (a friend of mine) advised me against the lighter leather due it being more subject to discoloration. He said that if you wear things like leather jackets, the black can rub off onto the seats. When I looked at my mothers interior of her car that's exactly what I saw. Perhaps getting the leather protector they sell will work to avoid this issue.

I pick up mine on Monday.

  2. Are you sure the sound from the DVD won't come through the speakers in the cabin? I read yesterday that it can if the radio is tuned to a specific station. Does it come with a manual?

I stand corrected. Just came from my dealership and he told me that if you with the DVDs in the headrests through Ford when it's being manufactured then the sound CAN be played through the cabin speakers, but if you go with the aftermarket one's they will only work through the headphones. My dealer said he'd check to see if it's possible to hard wire them through the radio since they haven't been installed yet. If they can't, I may choose not to have them installed as my kids are not fans of wearing headphones.

Anyone out there have aftermarket DVDs that ARE wired to work through the speakers?

  3. I'm picking up my '10 Edge SEL on Monday and I want to be as thorough as possible during the PDI. From reading the posts on issues people have had with their rides I'm thinking that pointing out any problems at this time would be beneficial. I'm already thinking about things like A/C, heat, all the power options, roof, exterior and interior for scratches/dents/tares. Is there anything else you can think of that may have been defective on your Edge? I was reading thread about someone's front end not being fastened properly and someone else mentioning weather stripping.

    Any suggestions would be great.

  4. We have the DVDs in the head rests from the dealer and our kids love them. They do not fight any more and they can both watch different DVDs or the same. The sound comes out only through the head set. The navigation radio is able to play DVDs as well, but only when the car is not moving. The sound comes out from the car speakers from that one. The DVD players have build-in memory so after you shot down the car the DVD will start from the exact spot. Also the head set shut down automatically after the DVDs stops. It feel and look very well built.

    Good luck

  5. Just wondering if anyone else got the aftermarket DVD screen in the headrests and how they're liking them? We're giving back our leased minivan that had the ceiling mounted screen and I think we're going to miss the ability to load the DVDs via the radio in the dash. Anyone know if they sound plays though the cabin or only though the headphones?

  6. we bought one off the dealers lot Saturday, 2010 Limited, tri color white, 18" wheels, its drives great. I am not sure what all options are available, it is FWD, it does not have the Navigation system, other than that, I think it has everything else, a real nice vehicle.

    LOVE the tri-colour white....worth the extra $300 I think.

  7. Any recommendAtions as to what to use as a protectant / polish for the CLAD chrome wheels on a 2010 SEL (I presume they are a thinly coated in aluminum clad - how disappointing)?

    Thanks

    Rob

Damn! I just realized that the "chrome" wheels on my new Edge are gonna be PLASTIC??? This kinda ticks me off!! Wonder if they'll switch 'em to the standard rim before I pick it up?
