  1. These bulbs are white, but I can't say that they're hyper or super white. Keep in mind I did this two years ago. I went to eBay & searched for LED lights, found that enkmall is still in business but it looks as though his product line has changed. Where ever U buy make sure U get 31 mm length.

Thank You... I just ordered a pair of 31mm off of retro-solution site.

  2. Bits of this are scattered about elsewhere, but here’s some new too.

For those wanting to install LEDs in U’r puddle lamps, but are reluctant to try  because of cost to replace damaged original, here's good news. Least expensive I’ve found is from Tasca Ford in Cranston, RI. (http://www.tascafordparts.com//index.do) Got dealer’s name & part number (3F1Z-13B375-AA) on an F-150 forum. Apparently this is an F-150 number, but I called Tasca & part is same for Edge. Cost $26.13 + $10.00 S&H. Now U can cut one apart :yup: knowing it can be replaced somewhat reasonably. The F-150 poster talked about using razor saw to separate lens from body. I think U have better control than with a rotary tool. I used an Exacto razor saw with .008 in. blade. Put lamp in vise with lens against one jaw. Cushion jaws with tape, close on lamp gingerly & rotate unit as U cut. Sawing with U’r hand on back of blade with saw turned backward & pulling toward U gives better control. (Japanese saws have teeth pointing backwards & cut on the backstroke. If U’ve never used such a saw, try it if U have a chance). Be patient. The cut will be about 1/16” deep & when U think cut is complete, gently worry the two pieces apart by prying with small screwdriver. While prying, if U come to a spot where U don’t see any movement U probably need to cut some more in that area. U won’t be able to cut at big black tab, but if U’r gentle, lens will crack  (yes, I said crack) away from body. A word of caution. The second one goes so much faster (10 mins) than first (50 mins) that U need to check frequently to see if U’r cut is deep enough without going so deep that U cut into lip on clear lens. Reflector removal depends on U’r LED bulb. Bulb (from eBay seller EnKMall) is 8.15 mm x 31 mm. Cost $7.98/pr., free S&H. Even though only 4 LEDs, it's quite good, but hard to tell by pic. I'm guessing quality & intensity of color a little strange due to ambient light. Maybe should try in a very dark parking lot.

What color are those led lights? blue or hyper white?

  3. Well I'm not Bender but I'll throw a couple things to think about. First, the Edge Sport is still an Edge just with some fancy lower body molding and possibly a different engine (I never looked into the sport). So the basic answer is yeah, if the Edge can tow then an Edge Sport can tow. There are people out there that tow with larger rims. The biggest thing is you need to find out if the tires on those larger rims are rated for the kind of weight you'll be towing. Normally I wouldn't worry about something like that, but since it's a lower profile tire I'd check just in case.

The platform on the Edge and Edge Sport are the same. You just need to figure out what your different parts are rated for.

I have parelli 265-40-22R tires and I called the parelli company and they said all I have to do it inflate my tires more than the recomended 35psi but no more than 50psi. My friend that works with tires for a living he checked out my tires and he said the tires are rated for 8000lbs and the vehicle weighs 5435lbs empty and with a full tank of gas so i have 2500lbs to play with but b4 i go doing this I just wanted to make sure from someone who has done this already and it works. Thanks, AL.

  4. I've got a 2010 sport, which has no trailer tow package available for it. I've crawled under it and it does have a factory transmission cooler. I would be surprised if all the edges didn't come with them. Look into it on your model before you purchase something that's already there.

Hey Bender I have a quick question?

I too also have a 2010 edge sport and i want to add a hitch to it, whats ur input on towing with a edge sport? can it be done? and which hitch would u perfer?

If anyone else knows the answere to this please post too.

    Thank You, AL

  5. I know there's another post about towing with the edge but it does not explain much... I was just wondering how does the edge handle with a tow hitch? does it put alot of stress to the motor? how about the 22in rims do they feel right when u tow? Also i know on the other post the guy said something about they would have to modify the bumper? and loud noise? Anyone has a tow hitch on there 2010 sport that can comment...please do...

  6. thanks for all the replies. I have been told about a product by Turtle Wax called the "Black Box." It is supposed to restore the luster of all black plastic finishes. I will give this a try first before I go to the stealership. Thanks again.

please letus know if that "BLACK BOX" from turtle wax works. Because I was waxing my edge and i maybe rub some wax on the black plastic part thats around my mirror and now that I looked at it after a week it has turned grayish... need something to restore that black finish I was goin to try armor all on my next clean the edge day.

  7. First of all you have a nice car ! I just bought a New 2009 (last one) and have the following and its very similar to your setup.

I have a Alpine W505 as a head unit, a 400BT bluetooth, I have the same amp (900/5), I have JL 10W6 in a custom (not as nice as yours) box. I also have a set of Focal (polyglass 6.5 set) fronts and Type R coax rear. I am pruchasing a set of 710 Monitors (a dealer here has a overstock set) but I am going to mount them to the poles. I was not sure if they would fit in the headrest. How did the install in the headrest go and I was wondering how do you get around the fact that the 710's dont have buit in IR did you mount a IR somewhere or just using corded headphones. Did you notice how sweet your system sounds, I had the exact same setup in a 2008 Mercury GM and it seems like the edge has really good acustics because it sounds great in this car !!

I did all my work not at the dealer, but a professional installer that all they do is audio and video. im not sure how he was able to fit the 6.5in screen in the headrest but he said he can do it so he did. The IR are under my driver seat and my passenger seat which is i believe the first picture u see (I think thats what ur asking). Every thing is under my seats and rug like my CD/DVD changer, IR, and Amp, and all the wires are under my rug...LOVE the way it sounds in the edge...... I do have a corded headphone plugged to the IR but thats b4 i found out how to change the sound comming from the headrest to headphones.... When I get a chance I will check out the wireless Alpine Headphones, will post in here if they work.

  9. Hi All;

I just purchased a switch blade key off of Ebay for my 2010 Edge. Can these keys be cut at any key cutting place or can they only be cut at the dealer. I brought it to Home Depot and the sales associate told me only the dealer can cut them because they could damage the internal chip. Does that sound accurate and the dealer uses a special key cutter not to damage the chip, or was he being lazy? Thanks.

I got the same key off of ebay also and i went to the dealer where i live in NH and they cut it for free.....

  10. Yes, seems to be power...but only with the flash drive...not the iPods....but the flash drives aren't recognized either!

I'm having the same problems now. Seems to have started after I went to syncmyride.com and did the update. let me know wat u did to fix it.....

    Keep me posted. Thanks.

  11. a couple questions.

just got my 2010 edge awd with nav ..looking for the part number and best place to buy the oem remote starter kit complete..would anyone know that number??

Also, could someone tell me how difficult this kit is to install? do wires need to be cut and spliced, or does everything plug right in to the original harnesses..

    Thanks

    Peter

Just a FYI, If u do the install yourself or u have a non-ford certified dealer/person do it, u loose ur vehicle warranty. Also i had the remote starter installed by the dealer and they charged about $350.

  12. at the risk of sounding rude, everything you seek is in this thread. many times over

links to buy from, photos of bulbs, bulb sizes, install stories, etc etc

    just search or read through

i have read tru the form and saw all the post about the parts but I was thinking it would be a little easier to read if its on 1 post so we dont have to re-read the same post again and again. thank you.

    ***EDIT***

This is what I was talking about. Found this on Sylvania Web Site. Just seach for ur vehicle make and year on the drop down menu.

  13. Got mine installed at the Dealer. If they do muck it up they will fix it. I have found out that if you do it

yourself, or have an aftermarket store do it, the first time you have electrical problems the Dealer will

say you caused them. Of course this was GM, so maybe Ford is different but who knows.

Same with Ford... My father in law works at a ford dealership over here and he told me that too, bcuz i was goin to get a after market remote start done cuz is cheaper but when i heard that i have to go tru ford.
