  1. Transmission Bang

Last night while traveling up a mild grade at around thirty miles an hours with five people in my 2010 FWD Ford Edge there was a loud bang and a big jolt it felt like I ran over a speed bump. It was like it shifted into park for a second. There was nothing in the road so I kept on going an few seconds later after a slight acceleration up another hill the same thing happened; a loud bank and a severe jolt.

I do not know what it was. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

I may of solved my problem. My transmission needed one Qt of fluid. I thought the Edge was like my wifes mustang that has no dip stick for checking the trans fluid level it is 100,000 fluid. I have not had any problems since. It does not leak and there is no signs of drips.

  2. Go to the dealer. TSB for the trans is an easy fix from what the service rep told me. They don't open up th whole trans but rather an access door that allows them to change what they have to.then, they reprogrammed the trans. Works wonders

Can you post the TSB for the trans 2010 Front FWD?

  5. When I picked up the car the papers were not ready so they mailed them to me. This is what their report said:

EEG test and ignition system test. Relative compression test low in cylinders #1 and #4 when engine is cold. Flue sample is poor fuel quality. Recommend adding 44K and switching to chevron supreme to clean sticking valves.

I still hear a couple of clicks (possible from the lifters) when it starts cold.

I did not buy their 44k but added Chevron injector cleaner and Lucas upper cylinder lubricant (injector cleaner & Flue conditioner)

    Up date:

After I filled it up with Premium Gas and put in Lucas upper cylinder lubricant (injector cleaner & Flue conditioner) it starts great.

I did notice there was a two quick clicking or tapping sounds the first few days when I first started it cold. That might be the sticking lifters???????

  6. BS. There are 24 lifters, there is no way all are sticking. Also the fuel you use has nothing to do with the lifters. If they ment injectors there are 6? You might get one even two to stick but all 6 bs. Could be something like a crank sensor, more likely to fail when warm, could be ignition coil. In fact odds are it's nothing to do with the fuel side of it. If when it started and it ran rough more then likely it was flooded. I'll bet it something on the ignition side of it. If it is on the fuel side then either you pump isn't coming on, or the regulator isn't working right. Low fuel pressure wont let the injectors work right. I also dont see why they cant do anything untell something breaks? Weren't they able to duplicate the problem? I'd say take it somewhere else.

  7. I have a 2010 FWD Edge with only 4100 miles and had to take to Ford for service. Two days in a row it would not start. It turned over for a good ten seconds then started rough.

After it warmed up it runs fine and starts right away. The dealer could not get it to duplicate the problem so they are keeping it over the weekend and hope it wont start on Monday. Does anyone have any ideas on what it might be?

  8. I've had one for the past few weeks and its great.

To get the key cut I just ran to a dealer and had the guy in the parts shop cut it and they didn't charge me. To program the transponder you'll need both factory keys and its really pretty simple... you just turn the car to on with each of the keys and wait for the security light to turn off. Then you stick the new key in there and turn it on within a few seconds and it is programmed. To program the remote, you use one of the keys and turn the ignition from off to on 8 times or so. The doors will lock and unlock to let you know it is ready to be programmed and then you just hit a button on the remote (lock, unlock, whatever) and your remote is programmed. When your car exits programming mode it does another lock & unlock of the doors I think. All in all, it took me about 5 minutes to program the new key and remote.

The key itself feels really solid. My brother has a 2010 Equinox and the keys are very similar in terms of quality.

I like having this key not poke me from my pocket all the time... I'd recommend it to anyone.

Where did you get your information on programming the flip key like a separate key fob?

I checked through all of the owner’s manuals for the edge 2007 thru 2010 and there is no mention of programming a separate key fob like the older fords. They do say you can program a transponder key as described in the owner’s manual and that’s all.

It is interesting that just programming by transponder key method will also program your remote functions on the key without activating any of the remote buttons. It seems like it just magically happens. I tried to program a separate remote fob by turning the key one and off as described in my escape owner’s manual and it does not work.

How did anyone really program there flip key purchased on e-bay???

    Please help/

  9. I have seen many listings for a new key with remote in e-bay but it is for the 2007 - 2009 Edge.

Is there a diffrence between the early models and the 2010?

the dealer wanted $150 for an extra. I know i can program them since I have two.

I am worried about loosing one. Anyone know the diffrence and a place to ket a extra one cheep?

  10. I ordered the Ford transverse bars through my dealer and had them installed when I took delivery of my 2010. I do think they are removable with an allen key. I should warn you though - be careful what you want to use them for...

    Why are they light weight?

    What did the dealer charge?
