  1. You, like many of, expected a TPMS that was advanced enough to supply individual tire pressure readings.

Maybe there will be an app that will bring this to SYNC someday.

My Acura which is 5 years old has TPMS and warns on an individual tire basis. My Edge?, just the basic warning light. Synch is cool, but useful technology is even better.

  2. I have an Edge Sport being delivered this week, and I'm trying to figure out how to get homelink installed in it. I have no clue why it isn't standard, but anyways....

So I was under the impression that the Limited models had the homelink module on the visor (never looked in the one I test drove, but I assumed this because my dad's F150 is this way). Can anyone with a Limited confirm this for me?

If this is the case, I was hoping to simply order the visor from the limited model, swap it out, and call it a day.

Of course, it's not so simple with my dealer....First the service guy says he can order the visor but they can't install it. However, he is now insisting that no Edge has homelink in the visor, but instead the Limiteds have it in the mirror. So, he can order me the rearview mirror with homelink, which Ford sells as an accessory, and have that installed.

I'm pretty sure a visor would be cheaper, and I want to be like a factory job, not an accessory. So, has anyone with a sport done this yet?

    All help is greatly appreciated.

The Mirror accessory worked great for me. Inlcudes Compass and auto-dim. Dealer installed.

  3. My 2011 Ford Edge is on order and I should be receiving it the end of November / First week in December. I am looking at getting a cargo liner and floor liners. I was just wondering if anyone has experience with the WeatherTech cargo liner for the Edge and how it compares to the OEM Ford Edge Cargo Liner.

Ford sells the cargo liner for $90, but on autoanything.com they have the weathertech cargo liner for $127. Just wondering if the weather tech is worth the $40 extra.

Lasty, Does anybody have the weathertech floor liners and how do you like them?

I have the Wethertech in Cargo, rear and front. Molded versions to Edge. Far superior to Ford OEM (I actually picked up Edge with OEM's provided by dealer, took them out immediately). Worth the extra $.

  4. Can anyone confirm that the 2011 Sport does NOT have a homelink transmitter in the visor?

Seems like a silly option not to be available from the LTD to the Sport, but you can't get HID or Adaptive Cruise so I suppose this could be on the list as well.

If it doesn't have homelink, has anyone found a good hiding spot for garage door opener? I haven't had to hide one of those in years... almost every car I've had has had homelink built in somewhere.

    Thanks!

I bought the Rearview mirro that has homelink buttons as a Ford accessory. Dealer installed. Works great.

  5. ME TOOOOOOO!!

WOW I also have a 2010 Edge and have the Sunroof issue. It's back at the dealers today for the 5th time. Last time they replcaed the entire roof liner. Issue still not solved. The dealer said they've never expirienced this issue. It's extremely anoying and I absolutely HATE my Edge because of it. Please let me know if you get yours fixed! I'm in Canada.

I had an "annoying rattle in the rear that I was sure was the Vista Roof. Short story was I opened up the spare tire compartmnet and found the lug not holding the spare was loose and rattled. Tightened it and surprisingly never heard the Vista Roof "rattle" again. What the heck...give it a shot.

  6. We just bought a 2007 SEL for the wife and she really wants the Rear view mirrow with the Temp/homelink. Anyone done this and who has the best deal on these?

We have a 2007 SEL and it did not come standard with Homelink. That is a requirement for us so at time of purchase I had them install the Mirror with Homelink and COMPASS (Not temp, that is on your info. display) accessory. I believe it was not cheap at around $200 or so.

  7. Ohio is definately not a one plate state. Lived here all my life and have always had front and rear plates.

Wait until a cop says you have to have one. Most folks here in IL that did not put one on have never regretted it. I plan on going without in my next ride as well. It's time we stop that foolish "rule/law".

  8. She agrees with you. The photos are coming. Her last 2 cars were a Lexus RX400h and a Mercedes. She expects cars to be thoroughly engineered. This is a problem unique to the Edge. I'm not a Ford basher. My daily driver is a Fusion Hybrid. That dash is clear under the same conditions.

I have had my Edge for 2 1/2 years and I still have frustration about the low dash lighting. It can not be addressed by service. It is a design and engineering flaw. I'm living with it.

  9. Ive got an 07 in carbon with the tan and gray interior (tan carpets) and simply cannot decide if I would be better off with tan all weather mats or black. Anyone have any thoughts or pictures that might help?

I would imaging black would disguise stuff better and match some of the interior stuff, however tan would match the carpet.

Any thoughts or suggestions (or pics!)

I have tan carpets and tan Weathertech including in the cargo area. Can't imagine black on Tan (sounds like a beer) especially in the rear where the back of the seats is tan carpet. I would stay Tan on Tan.

  10. Well, yes I can. It was not the cup holders. :banghead: Its still there. Im going to take the spair tire out and leave the back floor out and drive and see what happens. It almost sounds like the seat belt buckle rattleing against plastic. (But its not) The funny thing is that it seems to be worst in the morning and gos away as the day gets warmer .

After reading your cup holder response, I investigated a similar rattle and found that the spare tire nut was not 100% screwed tight. That id solve it for me. Hope that helps.

  11. Ive had a rattle comming from the back seat and was not able to find it. Well, mistery solved!

Back seat center arm rest cup holders. :happy feet:

Can you be more specific? What about the cup holders was rattling?

  12. no.. they are free.. trying to help someone who does not get the Ford ads in the mail, but whom wants a Ford (like I was back in Jan) get a little break... jeezz

ahh yes... I think I recall you tried to dog me about selling something I paid for that came with my car because somehow since it came with the car it was wrong of me to turn around and sell the parts I removed because "I got it for free", despite paying 30k to own it. I say then what I say now, I hope the guy selling his upgraded and no longer needed wheels, rims, navi system, springs, exhaust, amp, speakers gets the same grief! :)

thanks... I feel slapped and patted on the back all in 1 post :)

    That was fun...:-)

  13. $750 cash off on purchase or lease of new 2008-2009 Ford from 10/24/08 - 1/5/09.

some exclusions like the mustang shelby GT, bullet and escape hybrid - so you can get yourself an Edge. Claims to not be transferable outside of household, but my name and address are not on it.. so not sure what that really means. US residents only. can be used with X plan, but not A, Z, D. can be added "onto any other offer available to the public" - which would be things like current rebates, this can also be use also. you can see those by clicking here

I asked about these back when I went to buy my Ford in Jan and had no luck, now I have 2. Maybe 2 people here about to buy an Edge can use them? only serious buyers and not 'maybe' buyers. I will decide.

I take it you are selling these? Another "anything for a buck" Lex promo? :-) If your posts weren't so good, I'd go after you harder, but if you are selling, I guess it is o.k. because as a whole, your forum contributions are quite good.

  14. How do you figure I got it at no cost? I paid for the car didn't I? So I paid for the DVD. So I can't sell it?

So, by your logic it seems, everyone here trying to sell parts of their cars they have replaced or upgraded: wheels, tires, rims, subwoofers, enclosure, speakers, floor mats, stock head units, springs, .. should not sell them to recoup upgrade costs and or allow the next person to also win by getting an item they might want cheaper than buying it full price retail?

I don't get it  , but thanks for chiming into my thread? <_<

Hey, we're all friends right? Share the wealth man. Just kidding. But if you want to share, PM me. :shades:

  15. If anyone is interested....

I have my newly used Ford, Lincoln, Mercury version/Map Release 6P DVD - comes in 2008 model years. Used but in perfect working condition! Navigation DVD works in only those 2007 and 2008 Ford and Lincoln Mercury vehicles with factory-installed Pioneer navigation systems, but 6p came in the newest 2008 vehicles like mine. I have the DVD and jewel case and the sleeve inserts - exactly how I got it.

Here is what you get with 6p:

This DVD map update contains coverage across the continental United States and Canada as well as Alaska and Hawaii. It contains over 6.06 million miles of road and features more than 1.57 million updated points-of-interest including over:

    449,700 restaurants

    68,700 hotels

    103,800 banks

    108,000 ATMs

    90,800 gas stations

245,600 auto service & maintenance locations

    14,900 tourist attraction

If you have 4p and want to cheaply upgrade and save a bundle of cash over retail, let me know as I am letting mine go and it works perfect. Send me a PM and we can talk about price/ship with PayPal.

Now Lex...Are you saying your willing to sell something you got at no cost. If I am wrong, sorry. If I'm right, shame on you!

  16. If I get a chance, I will try to snap a photo, but from today on I am a bit busy (which is why I wanted to knock it out on Monday). I have already taken that thing down like 40 times in the last few days and most of the photos I have taken show all of what needs to be seen so I only snapped a new one of the final product.

Looks like you all got it nailed. I really like the idea of this as well, but I am in no way a DIY guy with any electrical knowledge. So, if anyone has any ideas about where to go to get this done (I take it a Dealer is out of the question from the earlier responses), I would be very grateful.

Lex, you are always doing great things. Thanks!

  17. Hey thanks... first, why did you order the MKX part? just for the look of it? It seems the Edge one would work, so not sure why got the MKX part?

Yes, pin 14 is ground. Pin 1 is open, so you might be correct about it needing ground. But not sure where your applying power? I see where you are getting it (the mirror), but not applying it (to a pin)?

Q: Could ground just be taken from the existing ground by tapping into & running a jumper from the black wire in the gray pigtail/molex of pin 14 and then attached to pin 1. Then, power is taken by tapping into blue w/red striped wire on mirror but it is applied to what/where - that is what I am missing, is that what you have forgotten - are you implying you could run the ground to pin 1, and then just touch the mirror power jumper to the pins until you find which one lights the LEDs, obviously you would need headlights/power on to car as well or is the mirror power constant?

I know you guys like the do-it-yourself route, but couldn't a dealer do this (if we were willing to pay of course)?

  18. I have been reading a lot of topics concerning MPG, but I don't see any mention of the average speed of the vehicle (nifty little feature on your computer). The average speed is what really sets the MPG (ie. city stop and go vs Highway). THere is obviously going to be differences between people depending on how fast they are really going and how long they remain idle for (ie lights and traffic). The computer keeps track of this. Here are my latest stats:

City @ an average speed of 18-21 miles/hr I am getting 12-14 MPG

Highway @ and average speed of 55-62 miles/hr I am getting 21-23 MPG.

Matches my stats. I have a AWD SEL+ with 10,000 Miles. Somewhat annoyed my highway is 21-22, but I have AWD and when measured, also had A/C on Auto. So, it makes sense.
