  1. Good question. If I had to purchase an over the counter product, it probably would be the Tech Wax 2.0.

Brands like Poorboys, Menzerna, Chemical Guys, Zaino, Blackfire, Klasse, etc are not available over the counter and are only available at detailing stores. While detailing is more than just a hobby for me, I only purchase products from professional detailing stores. For the US, I would highly recommend www.detailedimage.com and in Canada I would recommend www.eshine.ca

Canuck, thanks for all your helpful info.

I was checking out the carnauba waxes on www.detailedimage.com, but there are a lot of brands I have never heard of. What would you recommend for my platinum white edge? I would like something that has a high shine; and I do wax my cars regularly.

    Thanks.

  2. I wasn't replying to you. Anybody who sells a 1 year old vehicle takes a big depreciation hit. I don't have to know your finances to know that. It's common knowledge.

I guess it depends on what "losing your shirt" means to the individual. I agree that a car depreciates a lot after 1 year but since I bought the car at the employee discount price, it gave me a bit of a head start driving it off the lot. I don't consider $35 more a month more than the last car as losing my shirt. It is a much improved car so it is worth it to me.

  3. What would Ford have to do with the trade-in value? That is strictly between the dealer and the buyer. I'm guessing you meant the dealer when you said Ford.

Anybody who trades in a 1 year old vehicle is going to lose their shirt in depreciation. That's just the way the market works.

Actually I didnt, but why do I have to prove it to you. I dont give a shit what you think. I guess you know everything, including my finances.

  4. since your edge was so new, did Ford take care of you on the trade in? or did you lose your shirt?

My wife works for AAA so we get the X-plan discount, plus the 0% interest, the only money i really lost was the $ I put down and the payments I had made. Also, i had bought a few cars from this guy before so he gave me an extra good deal. I wouldn't have traded it in if I would have had to lose my shirt.

It helped that I told them if they could give me a good enough trade in value where I would break even on my loan then I would buy two cars...so they did... I bought my wife a 2010 Taurus Limited AWD on the same day.

  5. I'll ask this here because the "Sync Forum" only seems to contain folks with pre-2011 Syncs (missing the MyFord Touch feature)....

Has anyone gone to the syncmyride.com website and downloaded the update. I did, and it said there was an update. I downloaded it and successfully installed it on my 2011 Ford Edge. Then, I brought the USB stick back to my desktop to "report successful install" but I got an error uploading the report.

Ford Chat help did NOT help. They said I didn't need an update - I get the impression the chat folks are not as knowledgable on MyFord Touch.

I also emailed Sync - which is what it says to do if there's an error when reporting successful installs -- and I'm waiting to hear back.

Anyway, I'm curious ... has anyone else successfully done an update? and successfully reported it back to their sync web account?

I agree with those guys. I actually had a 2010 Edge and successfully completed the update from syncmyride.com and received the "successful upload report." I did not think to upload the software to the MyFord Touch because I believe it is a different system. I wonder if they will start a new website for those with MyFord Touch.

  6. I bought a 2010 Edge SEL in January and finally just upgraded to a 2011 Edge Limited after I saw the new My Touch system. My 2010 Edge was Tuxedo black and my new one is Platinum White and fully loaded with everything possible. So excited, love driving it, but love playing with the My Touch even more.

  7. Hi all!

Just picked up my new 2010 Edge Sport AWD, 401A package Sport Blue, black leather with alcantara inserts inserts, Vista Roof, ambient lighting, and remote start.. I got her 2 weeks ago, so far so good, just 2 little quirks, but other than that, cant be any happier, My first Ford in 10 years, and its great to be back. Now its time to let the mods begin. ...looking to install the Rear dual Dvd head rest, and factory navigation.

    Congrats and welcome.

  8. About a month ago I purchased a 2010 Edge and so far I love it. I have not done much to it so far but put a "TapouT" hitch cover on and I just received my WeatherTech mats a couple days ago. The mats are awesome, but my only complaint is that they are not "tan" like described, but more of a light brown. Doesn't match perfectly (the color) but they do work and fit great. I think the only options my SEL does not have is the GPS, auto lift gate and 20 inch rims, but I am more than ok with that. I already have a Magellan GPS system that works great, I'm pretty sure I can handle lifting the gate myself and tires for 20 inch rims are way expensive (even though they look cool). I guess everyone is putting pictures on here so I will have to get to that. I am excited about purchasing some extras for my car and am happy to be apart of this edge forum.
