Thanks for the followups! No all other dome lights etc go off. I've pulled it for now but noticed a funny behavior today. It refused to start while I was out. Battery and alternator were putting out proper voltages and after knocking around under the hood it started. I think I might have a sticky relay problem somewhere.

I took a working Navigation unit from the junk yard and put it in my 08 SEL to replace the basic radio (it was a simple plug and play) and it won't turn off with the ignition. The unit power up and down & tested fine in the car it came from. Is there some relay or wire swap that has to be done in order for the navigation unit to work?
