  1. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I wonder why there is NO K&N air filter listed for the 2007 MKX?

As far as I know, the air filter used in the '07 MKX is identical to that used in the '07 Edge or '08 MKX - same engine and filter housing.

Oh, I DID give K&N a call and they insisted that I NOT try to use the filter availalbe for the '07 Edge or the '08 MKX - the gal on the phone stated that there could be a performance/warranty problem.

    Go figure!

  2. I have an MKX with the factory installed THX radio with Sirius Satellite.

If possible, I would like to remove the Sirius receiver and install an XM receiver. The present Sirius receiver is located in the rear hatch door.

If possisble, would all the radio function buttons on the steering wheel still work as well as all the functions on the THX receiver?

I have XM in my office and my other vehciles and the programming is soooooooooo much better.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Any word on whether the Sync system will be availalbe as a retrofit for the 2007 Edge/MKX?

A video of the Sync system is available on Utube - very impressive!

BUT, the steering wheel controls, in the video, reflected a PHONE button on the right side of the steering wheel, which is NOT found on my MKX.

This in itself bodes poorly for a retrofit.

  4. My MKX was delivered with the THX® II Certified Audio/Navi System, which is supposed to contain a TOTAL of fourteen speakers.

Where does Ford/Lincoln hide the fourteen speakers?

I count as follows: two in each front door = 4

one in each rear door = 2

one speaker in front dash = 1

one sub-woofer in right rear cargo area = 1

    Grand Total = 8

WHERE are the balance of the 6 speakers hiding in order to add up to 14?

    Regards!

  5. I think the Conti's were standard on both originally. They must have added the Michelins sometime in the last few months. Unless this was a dealer swap.

    Nope, not a dealer swap.

MKX was delivered from the factory with the Michelins - I was at the dealer when the vehicle was unloaded, since I only live five minutes away. The G.M./Sales Manager called me the minute the convoy truck was in the parking lot.

  6. I have a new Creme Brulee Edge. Was disappointed that Ford did not have an option for Door moldings as my garage is tight with 2 cars and we always seem to get door dings.

My dealer said that these are not a Ford accessory. Does anyone know if that is true and if so, is there a aftermarket alternative that will match color 100%?

Not door edge guards, want moldings that go along the mid-height of the door. Thanks!

For your edification, I have posted in the pics gallery, some high resolution captures of my MKX with the Door Guards installed.

I did watch the tech install the guards - took a great deal of time in measuring and marking with a grease pencil. Critical was wiping down the paint with Prep-Sol 70, a 3M product. The Prep-Sol removes all traces of grease, wax, dirt and other nasty grime.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

  7. I am looking for a "custom fit/molded" set of mud flaps for my MKX - front and rear.

I did buy the official Ford version, but they are simply a set of FLAT UNIVERSAL mud flaps which require drilling into the fender. In fact, the flaps need some trimming in order to fit flush within the wheel well.

Sent email to Husky, they make a great custom fit mudflap, and they responded that maybe in the future if the MKX/Edge sells and demand for the mud flaps builds.

Putco makes a nice mud flap in stainless steel, but no model, as of yet, for the MKX/Edge.

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Pictures would be great!! I ran across their website today before I read your post. I am thinking of ordering for my MKX and installing myself. I have the vivid red metallic color but what I am finding out it is the same color as the redfire Edge since they both have the same color code. It appears lincoln just used a different name.

Will get some pics up later this week.

When you order, the tech asks for the Lincoln Color Code, so that the paint on the guard is an exact match.

Again, NO connection with Sportwing, its just that I have purchased form them in the past and they have always been PERFECT with color match and sizing.

In fact, if you go to their web site, you can read their gurantee and also see pics of an Edge with the door guards already installed.

My next purchase, form Sportwing, will be color matched wheel well guards that actually extend INTO the wheel well and fully protect the wheel well metal - not just the surface. Wish the MKX had FACTORY cladding, like the Explorer.

    Regards!

  9. Just looked at their site. No comfortable buying from them as they do not list manafacturer or color specifics. Perhaps you were more comfortable because you lived in their area.

I suggest you give them a call and get the specifics. I have used their door guards on five other vehciles (four Explorers and a Licoln Aviator)and the color match, as well as the fit/cut, was PERFECT every time.

    The call is toll free!

    Regards

Just had DOOR MOLDINGS/GUARDS installed on my MKX which was built on May 30, 2007, and delivered on June 12, 2007. They are about 2" wide and run the length of all four doors. Looks much better than just a naked, unprotected door surface.

Purchased from a company called Sportwing located in Cleveland, Ohio. Since I live in Cleveland, they have a local install shop and I had them installed in 15 minutes - exact measuring for placement took 95% of the time of install since guards were already pre-cut and painted.

Color is a 100% match, which is Dune Pearl. No drilling, since they use 3M automotive tape and the fit is PERFECT!

If I get a chance, will take some pics and post later this week. Oh, Sportwing also sells on Ebay, but I would deal with them personally at 1-800-899-1516. And NO, I am NOT associated with Sportwing.

Visit them at Sportwing.com. Great customer service.
