  1. Did it not occur to you that it was one of your electronic devices causing interference? Especially if it moved with you to the new model.

    Update...

I used the Ford TPMS reset tool and procedure on my Edge and it turned off the TPMS light that has been on constantly since I bought the car.

And akirby, I had no electronic devices other than my cell phone in the car. Since the TPMS reset tool cured the issue I think its safe to say that wasn't the problem. Poor design and/or poor assembly line calibration are most likely the culprit here.

  2. My '07 Edge did this as long as I owned it. About 30 miles into a road trip it would throw out a tire sensor fault. I always just lived with it, but it was aggravating. I traded it in yesteday on a 2010 Edge.... and 10 miles down the road I got a tire sensor fault. Woliver, I guess I gotcha beat there! I pulled over and of course the tires were all within spec. Its pretty aggrivating, I have to say. The price difference between my '07 and my '10 was considerable, it would be nice if I'd not paid all that money to have the exact same issue.

  3. I just looked up a Lemon Law specialist on http://www.lemonlaw.com/ and let him do the work. It cost me $250 (which is tax deductible) and about 3 hours on the phone spread out over 4 or 5 calls. It took about 6 weeks from the initial consultation until I turned the car in. Laws vary by state and your results may differ, but thats how it went for me.

One word of advice is to keep all of your service records, as well as a printed copy of your car's OASIS report. This assigns dates and times to your complaint, which is invaluable.

  4. Ford bought back my 2003 Mach 1 after it developed an engine problem. They simply multiplied the mileage at the time the problem was first reported (~3200) by something like $0.20 and then refunded the me the purchase price minus the mileage calculation. They included interest I had paid as well as the cost of my window tint.

  5. i have been keeping track manually with fuel mileage. about 99% city driving and around 13-14.5 mpg.

i dont look at the console with the read out.(it is not accurate at all)

usually it is ranging around 135-145 miles per half tank.

i dont have a heavy foot.

i am going for my first oil change. 3000miles on it.

i have the faith it will improve with time and miles.

The main problem with manually checking mileage is that you have no way of accurately determining that you have filled the tank to the exact same level as the last time you refuelled. Hence, mileage figures can be skewed considerably.

  6. I JUST REPLACED MY BODY COLORED MIRRORS ON MY EDGE WITH CHROME PCS. IN CASE ANYONE WANTED TO KNOW..THE MKX PLASTIC CHROME MIRRORS ARE ACTUALLY A COVER THAT CAN BE USED ON THE EDGE. IT IS A DIRECT FIT. JUST GRAB THE INNER PART OF THE COVER ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE MIRROR AND GIVE A QUICK TUG...IT COMES RIGHT OFF AND U CAN REPLACE IT WITH THE CHROME PC FROM THE MKX. MY FORD DEALER ORDERED THEM AND THEY COST ME $70 FOR THE PAIR. THE INSTALL TOOK ALL OF 2 MIN. WILL POST PICS IN A FEW DAYS, MY CAMERA PHONE DIED.

Sweet. I posted a thread about this back when I bought mine but nobody had a firm answer. Thanks a bunch for confirming that they do indeed work.

  7. Hey MHOsborn....

I'm also thinking about a set for my black Edge. Please let us know how they look after install with photos if possible. I'm also curious if there is a recommended height/location from the ground up from Sportwing?

Yes, the instructions tell you where to measure from and what distance they should be above the rocker panel.

  8. The moldings look great on your Edge! I'm now thinking about black ones for my (black) Edge. Are they difficult at all to put on?

No, they are very easy. The hardest part is making sure the masking tape reference line is straight, but even that is easy if you have a helper. The only require items are a roll of masking tape and a tape measure. I used 1/2" wide green auto body masking tape from Auto Zone. You might also need a razor if you don't have good finger nails, as its hard to remove the backing from the adhesive on the mouldings.

Also, make sure once they are on there that you use something like a towel to rub from one end of the moulding to the other with firm pressure. This will assure a good bond. You can just barely see the tape between the moulding and the door from directly above, so make sure it is making 100% contact with the door, and has no gaps.

  9. Well, I installed my sportwing door mouldings today. The instructions were precise and easy to follow, and the whole thing took less than an hour. I got the ones with the chrome trim because I thought they would compliment the chrome clad wheels, and indeed they do.

  10. As far as the electrical it will be the same and the bolt pattern should also be the same only thing i would look closley at is the trim that attaches to the door on the outside but it as well should be the same.

I'm not talking about the whole mirror. I'm talking about the piece that snaps onto the front side of the mirror that is body colored on Edges and chrome on MKXs.
