  1. You can find out quite a bit about this issue from page 1 of this thread. I bought the OEM protector and while I'm not dissatisfied, it really is little more than an appliqué. Here is a link that shows one which is considerably thicker and more what most SUVs come with. http://aslauto.com/bumper.htm It still only protects the top surface but it might do what you want. See what you think.

:hyper: Anyone know the price as I did not see it on the web? and no answer on the weekend.

    Thanks

  3. Just curious how many of you opted for AWD and how many for FWD. I chose FWD since my wife has an AWD Escape at home. Never really got stuck in 6 years with a FWD Nissan Maxima in Washington DC area weather either.

:happy feet: AWD here in Tidewater,VA as being able to pull a boat out of the water on slippery ramps is a must for me. :shades:

So I went to this site and check out these shades.. I don't know what the in-channel means, vs. the other type. And I read where you can use 3M tape on some. Oh well, so while I'm their I check out the bug deflector's. I sent a letter asking for a picture of one in Chrome and on a White MKX, this is what I got back. As you'll notice it says Stampede, I wanted to see the Chrome one.

    post-1037-1189710500_thumb.jpg

My Impressions, YUK! The MKX has a chrome band that runs along the front lip of that hood. I've already inquired about a clear 3M film protector that would cover the lower 1/3 of the hood. For my personal tastes, I don't think I'll be adding either the window channels or bug deflector.

:shades: I don't care for the bug deflector, But the Ventvisors are great as they allow you to crack the windows in hot weather and also keep the rain from coming in. The in- channel type actually fit in the channel they do not stick on the outside of the window frame. I have not noticed any additional wind noise at highway speeds since installing them on my Edge. Anyway that said it all boils down to personal preferences as to adding or not. :happy feet:

  6. i'm new to this site, i'm a truck person, but bought the wife a new 2007 edge about 5 months ago. i've been looking window deflectors for her edge ever since! does anyone know if they make them yet, and where to order them from?

:happy feet: Just put a set of Lund/AVS in channel Ventvisors on my Edge today and they look good. got them on line at SVCUSTOMS.COM $55.95 incldg shipping it's a 4piece set #V194141A 2007 Ford Edge. :hyper:

  7. Hankook tires are ok tires. By far not the best tires out there. They make an excelent low profile tire as does continental. However it seems that all of their testing expenses go into the low profile tires. As a person who works on Ford's I have to say I don't know what the h#$l Ford was thinking going to these tires. The conti's in my opinion are worse then the hankooks but thats not saying much eather. I have seen blow outs with 4000 miles where the tire just came apart. And were not talking about sudden loss of pressure either. Plus when ford came out with the newer f150, a good portion of them came with hankook tires. The issues were many, and many sets of tires were replaced due to vibration issues. For the most part, once these tires are gone, you will never see a set of conti's or hankooks on my edge. Plus I only have about 15000 miles and my hankook tires are already warn to 4/32nds of tread

:redcard: Hankook are sold by Pep Boys in this area, That should give us a hint at to the quality or lack of.

  8. :redcard: Just got this dash kit yesterday but the color is to dark for my wife. the kit is a sherwood 2751AJ Majestic Burlwood, sherwood gets over $225 I paid $181.00 for it on special but Sherwood charges a big restocking fee to take it back so make me a reasonable offer plus the shipping and it's yours. :sos: If interested e-mail me at gnaigle@verizon.net
  9. Thanks I kinda thought that and planned to have it noted on the repair. :shades:

:hyper: Well they fixed it by turning the rotors down on the front, I questioned them about the job and they claimed it was such a small amount that it would not shorten the life of the rotor or cause it to over heat. Just hope they are right. :stats:

  10. :banghead: Anyone interested in purchasing a Sherwood 2751AJ dash kit for the 2007 Edge. I just received this one and it's not the right color for me and they want 15%+ shipping to return it. This one will fit all with or without digital H/ac controls 44 pcs in all in majestic Burlwood. Sherwood gets $225.00 on special I will take $175.00 and pay the shipping. :happy feet:
  11. If caramel's wheels aren't available, mine are. Original nuts included but NO tire-pressure monitors. I'm in Phoenix, AZ.

E-mail me directly at jeffreybehr@cox.net if you're interested.

:stats: Does the Edge have tire pressure monitors?

  12. BS alert! Rotors have a minimum acceptable thickness and can only be turned a couple of times. Even turning them once removes material and makes them lighter and less heat resistant.

I don't even like to turn Ford rotors once but I have done it. I'd insist they replace them next time they need to be turned.

Thanks I kinda thought that and planned to have it noted on the repair. :shades:

  13. Ours had the same thing and they SAID it came from the car sitting on the lot or factory or wherever.....basically surface rust on the rotors and they turned them. It seemed to fix it. Said it would not shorten the life of the brake rotors at all. that was the story on ours.....

    hope this helps you./quote]

Thanks for the input, should find out today if that is the case with mine. :reading:

  14. My MKX had some rust from sitting on the dealer's lot, but at 600 miles, the slight rubbing sound on braking is gone. Operating as expected .

Ford did not have a recall on FiveHundred brakes - just extended the warranty from 1 year 18,000 miles to 3 years/36,000 miles. Owner notification program. Some early Five Hundreds brake pads were susceptible to swelling when wet, causing them to ware out sooner than expected.

Rotor warpage generally occurs when you get the rotors very hot and hold the pads in one position on the rotor while the rest of the rotor cools. When you make a hard stop, creep forward to disipate the hear over the total rotor surface. Stop 8 to 10 feet from the white line and roll it out or put the vehicle in park with your foot off the brake.

This doesn't sound like rotor warpage, so let the service department diagnose and fix the problem. Could be tires, rims, mounting, alignment, balance, etc.

:censored: Had the car in for service today and just got a call from the service dept, they removed some rust from the rotors, test drove the car and now say they are going to resurface the rotors as they still got the shudder and shake when braking. I will post the findings they say it should be ready tomorrow. Car has less than 900 miles on it.

  15. My dealer said even with his discount the price was over $250.00. This for a part given Ford a good markup should be offered at around $75 -$95.00 not installed. I agree Ford parts are ripping us off on this item. :stop: Also As my car came from another dealer my dealer did not show me what the car would be without this item if I had known and if it had been explained I would have made them look elsewhere for one with the equipment I wanted, this was one of the items requested, I was told it was no big deal to put it in. They the dealer had no idea that this piece of plastic would cost so much and seemed as surprised as I :redcard: .
