  1. I've started looking to replace my Cadillac 2010 SRX w/performance package, and have been looking at the three following models. Here's my very initial impressions (have not gone for test drives yet). I spend a lot of time in traffic, so I enjoy a comfortable vehicle, with good seats, great nav/entertainment integration, and smooth ride.

Curious what others have considered? (understanding that I'm on a Ford Edge forum - ie. how these choices compare to a 2015/2016 Edge Sport).

    Thanks!

    2016 Edge Sport

    • Like overall style, not as extreme as '16 RX
    • Will it be reliable like the Lexus?
    • Have never owned a Ford, will it hold re-sale value in 4 years?
    • Excited to hear CarPlay will be option in the 2016, future upgrade (will it happen anytime soon?)

    2016 Lexus RX350

    • Front grill too large?
    • Nice 12.3" slim LCD navigation screen
    • Premium car, but worth the premium vs. Ford Edge Sport?
    • No CarPlay

    2016 Nissan Murano

    • Last time I rented a Nissan, interior felt cheap, and very plastic
    • Engine performance vs. Edge Sport or RX
    • Reliability?
    • No CarPlay.
  2. So I've been waiting for my local dealer to get one of the new 2011 Edge Sports in (looks like it will be at least another month), and in my waiting starting looking at other cross overs. Today I stopped by and looked at 2010 Caddilac SRX Performance. They are really trying to move them off the lot, and would ultimately be around the same price as the proposed 2011 Edge Sport...

Any opinions out there? either way?

  3. Not a good sign... My lease is up at the end of August... Before I order one, I want to drive an actual 2011 Sport...

My local dealer is supposed to call me when they get one in, he said early August a few weeks ago. Perhaps just a demo model...

Any other dealer updates out there?

  4. Any dealers out there that have them in their showrooms yet? My dealer keeps saying mid-late August - but wondering if that's with all dealers, or just what my local dealer ordered?

Any out there? Really want to drive the Sport, to see what this new engine is all about...

  5. What I can't believe is the 2011 Ford Mustang, same engine is advertised to get 19/31???

I guess the Edge is much, much heavier to have type of difference (25% lower mpg highway estimates?)

Are you sure? Juyst went to Ford 2011 Edge website

    Fuel economy (EPA-estimated) SE: 19 city/26hwy/21 combinded; SEL: 19 city/27hwy/22 combined; Limited: 19 city/27hwy/22 combined , sport mentioned 18/25

  6. A correction to my earlier post. I checked the window sticker of the Edge Sport we are to delivery of in the neat future and it reads 17/23 mpg. Shows how much publications can be believed.

Actually if that is the case, that is nothing to be excited about. The Buick Enclave, 7 passenger, bigger vehicle FWD is better than these 17/23... I having my local dealer let me know when he gets them in, can't wait to drive one.

Is the 17/23 on the window sticker of the one you saw?

  7. I haven't seen any claims of +40 mpg, that would be simply amazing. Most reviewers are pegging the mileage in the low 30's, which is still phenomenal for a 300+ HP motor. Can you imagine our Dad's big block V8's pulling that off! :)

    Here's a link I found, http://green.autoblog.com/2010/03/04/2011-ford-mustang-v6-gets-31-mpg-highway-first-ever-for-300-hp/

This is the article I read. My question is more related if the Edge has the other improvements mentioned in the Mustang article? I did a google but can not find any reference if the other improvements have been implemented as part of the engine, drivetrain? They mentioned electrical power assist, tuned transmission, under car shields, etc...

new engine, along with careful calibration of the new transmission, was the most important part of the mileage equation. However, replacing hydraulic power steering with electric power assist and numerous small aerodynamic tweaks helped, too

I have not seen any reference to the Edge offering other than just the basic engine references being the same?

Any others out there know any more details?

  8. I was reading about the 2011 ford mustang v6 that got over 40mpg, and it sounds like the 300hp engine that will be used in the 2011 edge sport... Yes, AC was off, and constant speed, but still very impressive...

Can anyone else confirm this? If this is the case, this I'll be an awesome vehicle...

  9. Thanks for the reply, I've gone to my local dealers, but they do not have any of the 2011 brochures yet with specifics... I like everythign about the Lincoln, except for all of the faux wood in the 2011 gallery they have up... I guess I'll have to wait until they get one on the showroom...
