  1. A couple of members were able to make a swap 18's with their dealers, although generally not.

The window stickers from the factory list the vehicle specs, and dealers may not want to explain why the car isn't eqipped as spec'd if the wheels are different.

If you are willing to pay an extra few bucks, get aftermarket wheels with the stock tires. There's a bigger selection, and cheaper than buying a full wheel/tire set. Then upgrade the tires when they're worn out.

    Don't forget theTPMS strap kits!

  2. I will NEVER buy another American car again. I have owned 2 Chevy Astro Vans, 2 Suburban's, 3 Ford Taurus's, 1 Corvette, 1 Olds Rocket 455 and 1 ACR Viper GTS. Every one except the Astro's and the Rocket 455, were complete POS.

My, oh my, oh my! How things change in a few months.

But after posting in two different threads, I can offer the following:

Your responses to 10 different members who, at first, are trying to find a solution for you seem condescending (and I point out the rural implication). You could try a little less legal-speak, and people would respond more favorably.

Almost everyone on this forum enjoys their Edge/MKX, with a small number experiencing higher than average TGW. Nobody is perfect.

You state in the previous thread that you have litigated all your life, and your father and close friends are lawyers - so why are you seeking lawyers on this site? I don't disagree, you sure sound like one! If you are not a lawyer, or in the legal field, then ...

It is unfortunate that you have had such bad experiences with American vehicles. I, on the other hand, have not - and I'll continue to buy American.

My point and my wish is to challenge the extent that the manufacturer may take this law, in court.

    No help here.

I hope you are able to find a solution without the fuss of the legal system.

  3. very cool :shades: I thought B.C. had different plates now... not that I have seen a lot in my day. is my mind deceiving?

Nope - your still of sound mind.

BC still has blue on white, for must be 10 years now. I guess they figure if you're willing to plunk $100 for personilized plates, they'll add some green mpuntains and the ocean for you ... heh

  4. Very Nice ride..

Thanks! It's a bone stock GT under all the add ons, though.

Thought I'd share my 2004 Cobra with you ...

and what I traded it for ...

    post-995-1202448233_thumb.jpg

Sold the Shelby after a couple months - and picked up the GT!

I shoulda kept the Cobra, though. lighter, tighter than the Shelby. Looking forward to the next HP version of the Shelby or SVT in the next couple years

BTW - your pics are great - what mods have you done to your Cobra/hp?

  5. Finally got the monochrome grille installed. After poking around under the hood for half an hour, it was going to take a wee bit more time than I figured. The grille is attached to the black surround, which in turn is attached to the front bumper cover.

I took it to the body shop, and for $85, it save a lot of skinned knuckles!

Any one else installed this grille?

  6. I actually own both. I recently asked the same question on a cadillac forum. It was interesting to see their responses. Check them out

    http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadil...incoln-mkx.html

i had a look at the caddy forum, and went to the GM site to 'build and price' ... uck!

it's typical to read caddy owners comments that their rides are superior without really comparing the vehicles apples to apples.

the srx is another class above the mkx, simply because of the third row seating and longer wheelbase. the optional v-8 option is a plus though. there really is no equal footing to start from.

pricing is over the top, building an srx with the same mkx options is an easy $20K upcharge (like you said previously).

for us, two row seating is adequate with lots of cargo space, the interior/exterior finishes, handling, fuel economy and great looks are among the best in its class. if you don't need the third row seating and don't need the extra bulk and size, save the $20K. the mkx is unique with the edge, and i think all the full size cuv/suv's are same/old, same/old ...

  7. so after mulling over the idea of trading our beloved edge, we stopped by the dealer to look at the new mkx's.

we took a black limited monchrome mkx for a spin, and loved it! even the 20's weren't too harsh to make a difference than the edge with 18's.

so after a bit of armwrestling with the sales manager, we ended up with a white chocolate mkx limited with bamr, nav/sync, 20's, charcoal/stone insert seats and piping. i still like the monochrome grille though ... mkx2go?

  8. too bad about your dealer - where did you get your MKX from? i would expect a polite 'no' at least after purchasing a lincoln!

just a reminder (i do this everytime i read about switching wheels) - make sure the new wheel and tire outside diameter is the same as your 20's + tire o/d.

    good luck

  9. I am very interested in purchasing a 2008 Lincoln MXK. I see that Ford has aligned themselves with Sirius. I am an XM subscriber and find that XM is heads above Sirius in content. Is there any way to replace the Sirius tuner with an XM tuner? If not, this is a deal breaker because XM is the only way to go as far as I am concerned.

it's too bad you're passing on a great deal like the mkx because of the radio service!

the sirius radio channel selections are better as long as you don't get a red or black mkx ...

  10. Does this sound like a good deal? Color is pewter with charcoal interior.

    it's a smokin' deal if it's alloy/carbon!

course it depends if it's fwd or awd, and options, what's this edge got? be sure you can live without the bamr, sirius, nav or dvd before you sign.

  11. I have looked at appr 10 on thier lot as well as numerous others in my travels and they are flat/smooth along the edges and front lip aligns with fenders. Looks like early production had a Quality issue which was fixed.

Having purchased in August 07 doesn't sound like an early production vehicle. Have a look at the plate on the driver's door pillar and it will tell you what month/year it was built.

If you do find others with similar problems, check their build date. it would be interesting if they were built during the same period. A little more ammo for you ...
