  1. We actually bought the EDGE because we have twins and needed the room over our Focus Wagon. Believe me I can understand where you're coming from. Fortunately I work from home so once the wife goes back to work I'll be able to look after the girls rather than send them off to the biological warfare training centre that is day care! We have friends who had twins a couple of months before us and they both work and they are pretty much using her income to pay child care! Add to that the number of days both of them have had to take off because the kids have picked up serious illnesses at day care and they're actually thinking of hiring a nanny.
  2. For those who want to order from KVR Performance you'll need to give them the Ford Part Numbers to match up to their current parts, at least until they actually assign part numbers to the EDGE rotors and pads. So the Ford numbers are: Front Rotors - 7T4Z1125A Rear Rotors - 7T4Z2C026A Front Pads - 7T4Z2001A Rear Pads - 7T4Z2200A Just quote those to the people at KVR and ask for the J-Hook, Slotted or Cross-Drilled Rotors and Carbon-Metallic Pads to suit the EDGE and you're off and running! I'm not sure if they have the 2-piece rotors available but you can ask. I ordered the J-Hook rotors cad plated and the carbon pads. They should be here Monday or Tuesday.
  3. First off, hello all! We picked up our EDGE AWD 2 weeks ago today and so far it's been wonderful. The wife and I love it but we do miss our trusty Focus which we traded in for our new ride. Just not enough room in the Focus for us and our twins. We had 270,000km+ on our Focus and it never missed a beat. We both miss the manual shift but we'll get used to the auto in time. Another thing we miss about our Focus are the brakes. The stock crap lasted us through two sets of front pads and rotors each of which failed at around 28,000km. When the second set wore out we fitted a set of KVR Performance cross-drilled rotors and carbon metallic pads. The first set lasted for almost 98,000km!!! Apart from costing less than the stock Bendix rubbish they performed WAAAAAAY better, looked great and there was virtually NO DUST! My wife - who is not a driving enthusiast - raved about the performance of the KVR's and said she could really feel the difference in the way the car braked especially in poor driving conditions. So yesterday I called KVR with the part numbers of the stock EDGE rotors and pads to see if they had anything as an OEM replacement. They just called me back to say that while they haven't assigned them a specific KVR part number yet they have J-Hook OEM rotors and Carbon-Metallic pads to fit the EDGE!!! WOO HOO!!!!!! $CAD165 per pair for the front/rear rotors and $CAD95 per pair for the front pads and $CAD85 per pair for the rear pads plus shipping from Ottawa. Mine will be here in 2 days!! If the new J-Hook rotors are anywhere near as good as their specs and they are as big an improvement over the old cross-drilled and/or slotted rotors then they will be fantastic. I can hardly wait. Goodbye dust! Goodbye brake fade!
