  1. Rename this forum to stevebrown1950 bitches about insignificant things. If you have so many problems with the car, what made you buy it? Unless a tornado swept through unexpectedly, only the weakest of people would have trouble keeping the door under control in a gust of wind. If the handle were placed further back, you'd be bitching about how awkward it is to grab and that your elbow hurts.
  2. Those fine scratches are the way the wheels are supposed to look. It's machined aluminium with a clear coat. Note how the 'scratches' aren't on the painted black part of the wheel. Do not bother claying or polishing, you'll only remove clear coat for no reason. Give them a good cleaning, get that Poorboy's World Sealant on them, and you'll love how they look.
  3. I use Griot's Garage products exclusively (except for my wheel sealant), I ordered around $800 worth of products from them for my new 2011 Sport. I got a couple Orbitals, loads of detailing tools, and nearly every fluid they make and I'm very happy with all of it. The paint sealant is great, but use more than one foam pad if you're applying with an orbital, the pads saturate quickly with that thin stuff and you'll end up with too much in the pad really fast. If you want to, follow it up with their Best of Show wax and you'll love your paint 10x more.
  4. First of all, the leather seats aren't hard at all. Maybe your ass is hard? Secondly, it may not be the best possible place for the hazards, but it's not exactly easy to activate them, theres a delay of about 1.5 seconds, so you have to hold your finger there for that long to turn them on. You'll learn to work around it, in the mean time, calm down and don't spam this forum over something so silly.
  5. +1 on QD. Hey Canuck, in your experience with that Poorboy's Wheel Glaze, how long does it take to properly haze? It'll be showing up today and I need to plan around taking wheels off as I'm also applying my final coat of wax today. Thanks!
  6. I would try a synthetic hard sealant like Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze or Griot's Garage Paint Sealant. It only needs to be applied one or two times per year, and it should make it a little easier to get the bugs off. If you want to go for full protection and shine, do like I do and apply the Sealant, let it haze, remove it, let it cure for a day, then go back and lay a carnauba wax over it for deep shine.
  7. The paint on the Edge is beautiful, but not perfect. I've found a few high spots and one glob on a door edge, but no big deal. The paint seems fairly thick and pretty hard, so it's easy to work on.
  8. I ordered the 8oz. Wheel Sealant plus three foam wax applicator pads (don't want to use my nice orbital pads for the wheels). What's your application process for the Sealant?
  9. Twenty bucks? Ordered. Hopefully it gets here before I'm done detailing. I have the week off to get this done and I'll take the wheels off to get them sealed front and back.
  10. I've heard that Poorboys is the way to go. I'll be ordering some before winter because I don't plan on swapping wheels when the snow flies. Thanks for that recommendation!
  11. Thanks Canuck! I'll be hand washing and drying of course. Then I'll Clay the paint (already clayed the glass) and polish any swirls and toweling marks out with Griot's Machine Polish 3 and my 6" and 3" Griot's Random Orbitals. I have a Pre-Wax Cleanser that removes any old wax and leftover polish. From there I'll use Griot's Paint Sealant, let it cure for a day and finish up with a coat of Best-Of-Show wax for the shine. All the obvious stuff is already done, seats cleaned and conditioned, tires dressed (of course I'll have to re-do that). The only thing I don't have that I want to do is wheel glaze. These wheels are so nice that I have to get protectant on them and I don't trust paint wax on them.
  12. Here's a few more. Detailing starts Tuesday, likely won't be done until Friday. Then I'll have some really great photos taken with a DSLR.
