  1. I checked the records. The steering pump got replaced only after 6000 miles. Steering was pretty bad at times and I am sure it was better afterwards. From the service ticket (reading my complaint) it seemed to be consistent with he TSB that was later instituted.

    I am comparing to various hydraulic cars that I drove/drive. Not electric steering that I also drive.

  2. I have a 2011 Ford Edge XLT wit about 50k miles. Over time the steering became very though and needs a lot to of force to turn.

    I know there is a TSB:

    However, the issue persists at all time and does not depend on temperature. Of course it is more noticeable on a parking lot. However, the issue is always there even at high speed, just less bothersome - similar to driving a very old car.

    I also checked steering fluid levels which seem ok, and I performed the steering fluid DIY flush method. No change.

    I recall that the dealer replaced the steering pump during the first year of ownership.

    Other Ford vehicles have recalls with electrical problems. Not sure if this is something similar.

    Anybody experienced the same thing?

  3. they did not complain. But when I asked about it they thought the same, just did not mention it. Might have been a gradual decline.

    I do recall that when we got the car new we had to bring it in almost immediately for a steering issue. Need to figure out what it was.

    Is there a service interval on steering fluid?

    I checked the fluid one more time. No burnt smell that I can tell. Fluid is brownish, slightly to the red.

  4. I opened today the hood of our 2011 Ford Edge to check the steering fluid level (see my other thread about the power steering issue).

    After opening the hood it was not hard to overlook that the battery has leaked badly (images attached). Frankly, I have never seen something like this before. The battery got replaced by a Ford Dealer in January 2015 as a result of constantly drained battery as a result of the "door ajar" issue.

    Is there any meaningful warranty on the Motorcraft battery? And if yes, does my situation represent a warranty case?

    Furthermore, why would a Ford dealer doing my Oil change/multipoint inspection not tell me about the battery?!!?

  5. Dealer is not much help...

    Looks like some other folks had simialr issues. However, fromt his thread I woudl assume they had the issue from the factory;

    I do think the light was better when new. I had to spend money for a HID upgrade or similar to get at least basic average light output. To me this is a safety issue.
