  1. I checked the records. The steering pump got replaced only after 6000 miles. Steering was pretty bad at times and I am sure it was better afterwards. From the service ticket (reading my complaint) it seemed to be consistent with he TSB that was later instituted. I am comparing to various hydraulic cars that I drove/drive. Not electric steering that I also drive.
  2. Sorry, yes it is Limited not XLT. Don't think I lost fluid. So could be any of the other aspects. I had the chance to drive somebody else's Edge. The steering seemed similar. Are the Edge's known to have a heavy steering? Just so much more heavy than any other hydraulic steering I drove during the last years.
  3. I have a 2011 Ford Edge XLT wit about 50k miles. Over time the steering became very though and needs a lot to of force to turn. I know there is a TSB: http://www.revbase.com/BBBMOTOR/TSb/DownloadPdf?id=171187 However, the issue persists at all time and does not depend on temperature. Of course it is more noticeable on a parking lot. However, the issue is always there even at high speed, just less bothersome - similar to driving a very old car. I also checked steering fluid levels which seem ok, and I performed the steering fluid DIY flush method. No change. I recall that the dealer replaced the steering pump during the first year of ownership. Other Ford vehicles have recalls with electrical problems. Not sure if this is something similar. Anybody experienced the same thing?
  4. Looks like the warranty doesn't include cleaning the engine bay. I couldn't sell my car in this condition...
  5. So far, I got on various cars 6+ years on OEM. I didn't keep any car longer than 10 years. But replacement is at least 4+ years. However, it is not so much the cost. But the associated hassle; e.g. the engine being all dirty, Ford not telling me during a (very) recent oil change that the battery is looking strange, Ford dealer forgetting loose parts,...
  6. I opened to hood tonight to look at the new battery. Looks like that the Ford Arlington Heights believes QA has to be conducted by the customer? The picture shows the loose parts as is after opening. And of course the battery is loose as well. P.S. Does anyone one know where that part goes? Is there anything missing?
  7. I checked my records. We got the steering pump replaced only after 6000 miles for a similar reason. Not sure what to make out of this....
  8. Dealer replaced the battery for free. Still, leaves a bad taste. The first OEM battery lasted less than 4 years. And this one disintegrated within 1-2 years. In all my other cars I never had to replace a battery before 6 years and none ever disintegrated like this. BTW. Other cars seem to put a heat jacket around the battery. Does the Ford Edge not have it, or got lost?
  9. I changed a quart of the fluid. Fluid started to look pretty good. Unfortunately, no change to report. I suppose I can check with putting the car in neutral and rev it to test? Does the dealer have a test procedure?
  10. they did not complain. But when I asked about it they thought the same, just did not mention it. Might have been a gradual decline. I do recall that when we got the car new we had to bring it in almost immediately for a steering issue. Need to figure out what it was. Is there a service interval on steering fluid? I checked the fluid one more time. No burnt smell that I can tell. Fluid is brownish, slightly to the red.
  11. For clarification: I did not drive the car for 6 months. However, the car was driven daily by somebody else in the family.
  12. I just checked the level. Looking at the tank lines maybe 1/8" below the min line. I am assuming this is not low enough to explain it. A while is 6+ months.
  13. I opened today the hood of our 2011 Ford Edge to check the steering fluid level (see my other thread about the power steering issue). After opening the hood it was not hard to overlook that the battery has leaked badly (images attached). Frankly, I have never seen something like this before. The battery got replaced by a Ford Dealer in January 2015 as a result of constantly drained battery as a result of the "door ajar" issue. Is there any meaningful warranty on the Motorcraft battery? And if yes, does my situation represent a warranty case? Furthermore, why would a Ford dealer doing my Oil change/multipoint inspection not tell me about the battery?!!?
  14. I have not driven our 2011 Ford Edge for a while. Did today and was surprised how heavy the steering is. Is there a known power steering issue with the 2011 Edge?
  15. Sometimes it seems that tires can "drive" differently on different sizes and on different vehicles. Want to make sure I get a tire that works on the 20" wheels on the Edge.
  16. While replacing the tires I would like to fix the center caps. The Ford emblem came of the center caps on all wheels. The car is a 2011 Edge Limited with the 20" chrome clad wheels. Is BB5Z1130B the part number? Are there other options? e.g. just the emblem?
  17. Hi, I need to replace the OE tires on my 2011 Edge Limited that has the 20" wheels. I believe the OE are Pirelli Scorpion. I want to replace again with a A/S. The car is driven in the Chicago area. So, winter/ice traction is not unimportant. Looking at review on the rack I came across the Michelin Premier LTX. Does anyone use this tire here? Any other recommendations?
  18. Yes, I just do not know how to. Again, the outside lense is clean, not cracked,.. It is the inside round lens that seems to have a film like resedue. Possibly on the inside. But I don't see a way to clean it. Would need tobe through the small opening after the bub is removed?
  19. That bulb appears to be the same as the original bulb that I pulled. I think it is as good as any standard bulb. At this point I do not think the problem is the bulb, rather a lens quality issue.
  20. Has anyone here observed a cloudy/hazy inside lens (not outside)? http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/19133-dim-headlights-on-2011-ford-edge/ I do believe that the light output got workse over time (even with new bulbs..). Trying to figure out if the Edge uses similar lenses to the Fusion (Fusion had a recall on this).
  21. Dealer is not much help... Looks like some other folks had simialr issues. However, fromt his thread I woudl assume they had the issue from the factory; http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10977-headlights-in-my-2013-edge/page-3 I do think the light was better when new. I had to spend money for a HID upgrade or similar to get at least basic average light output. To me this is a safety issue.
  22. Meanwhile I replaced the bulbs with new Sylvania. There is no real differnce in brightness. I noticed again the milky, hazzy coating on the roudn lense (inside). I wonder if this is simialr to the Foed Fusion recall? http://www.autoevolution.com/news/2013-ford-fusion-recalled-for-headlight-issue-52738.html
