  1. OK, so this is both a 2010 Edge topic and a "buying experience" topic. I like the 2010 Limited Edge, but I understand depreciation very well and wonder even with the 3000 discount plus other "add on" discounts for financing, AQHA, etc., why the '10 Edge makes sense. Dealers are offering around invoice on initial offers, but haven't gotten serious about the math yet. I'm wondering if should go for true dealer invoice plus a percent or two and then hope my 2008 low miles trade makes the deal. I doubt the Edge will hold value like the '07 Pilot I bought for the wife for example that's selling OVER what I paid for it 40K miles ago (after $3000 incentives at the time) on multiple Honda dealer and online sites. All I know is I've been seriously watching the lots and Edge's are moving SLOWLY in the 2 Atlanta area dealers I've checked the last 4 weeks. Interested in what others see as pro's / con's of buying what might prove to be a lame duck before the swanky new 2011's come out next month??
  2. After owning 6 fords (64, 72, 88, 93, 02, 08) bought used or as project cars, etc., every braking system is different! I'm not a tech or Ford employee or anything, but it's definitely time for a trip to the dealer. The dealer who replaced the rotors on the original thread starter here did he/she a HUGE favor. Remember dealers are independent businessmen and can make the case to Ford to pay for replacement parts under warranty that will avoid issues from "reappearing" down the road. If there is a TSB on rotors, REPLACE THEM NOW. Turning rotors for a "pulse" or even more severe "clunking" sounds drastic, but turning/machining rotors just means the pulse or clunking will come back w/in 10K miles in my experiences. It's really not that complex to replace pads & rotors folks and replacing parts is cheaper than 2 or 3 visits worth of labor. Give that service manager and the tech who does the job a gift card for looking after you if you get treated this well. You will be rewarded the next time you come back for something that's marginally under warranty, I promise. ;-)
  3. For $10 (or less) go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy the widest piece of clear vinyl "carpet protector" and cut to size for the back that has the little "teeth" on the underside that hold onto the carpet. Yes, it looks a little like grandma's house, but it's relatively stealthy and lets the carpet color show in the back. And you can custom cut to size in the back. Have had this in the floorboards for the kids in the rear seats for 3 years and worked GREAT. It will tend to get cloudy if left in direct sun so plan to do the job again in a couple of years if you leave your Edge in the sun during the day.
