  1. I have a 2007 Lincoln MKX. After repeat trips to the car dealership saying my left headlight intermittently goes out and them saying sorry, we could not duplicate the problem, I am saying screw you Ford. I know the wiring harness to the low-beam light bulb is the culprit since I changed the bulb myself and on changing the bulb the wires were too short and caused the wire to pull out of the harness. What is the best way to "extend the harness" or is it easier to replace the wiring and harness (I would think that would be more difficult). As an aside, the way Ford will not repair something just because they could not duplicate is frustrating. i don't know if it is some liability thing or something but it has caused me to see how they value their customers and I will just buy a "foreign" car next time. At least toyota will actually check instead of just turning on the headlights. I think I can turn on the headlights myself and see the headlight turns on. Having someone tell you they looked at something and you know they did not when you have seen the problem yourself is a slap in the face or pure laziness.
  2. Well, here is the latest update to my visit to the dealership . I told them about my concerns and they basically made me sign a form to do a diagnostic test for the over heating for $94. They took it out for a test drive during the day while I was at work and they could not get my temperature gauge to go up and could tell what was causing the noise from my tire. They said it MAY be the cv joint or a hub bearings. They wanted to replace one or the other to see if it was the problem. That is like going to a medical doctor about pain in your leg and they want to do an examination on your pants and shoes to see if it is the problem plus you have to pay either way. Long story short, they wanted me to drive with them because they could not "duplicate my problems" and needed to have the vehicle brought back this Thursday. My vehicle will not make it to this Thursday. My wife was driving it home today and she had to call the Lincoln roadside service. The temperature gauge was all the way past H and my wife was stranded on the side of a busy highway. She took a cell phone pic of it. So now it is at a different Lincoln dealership to be hopefully serviced and with the pic hope I will not have to "duplicate" the problem. Now I know how FORD got the found on road dead "joke". Oh and I am not going to pay for the $94 diagnostic test. What a bunch of jokers. . I will post the picture of my dash for those interested...
  3. Greetings, I will be taking my 2007 MKX for service for a cooling problem. The temperature gauge goes up to High on normal driving and idle. I realize the summer days are hot but I never had a vechicle go this hot for a relatively new vehicle. I know they are gonna tell me it is a hot day and the car will get hot. I have already had problems with the heating system before and I was finally able to get a new PTU seal after much complaining of the bad smell from the air vents about 1 -2 years ago in the winter time. Some time ago I got the TSB 09M04S1 that was issued on March 31 as documented by the NY Times at this site http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/09/automobiles/09TSB.html and other sites via Google. "FORD Some 2007-9 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models may qualify for a heater performance evaluation, a cooling system flush and an extended cooling system warranty. In T.S.B. 09M04S1 issued on March 31, Ford said that cooling system corrosion may lead to contamination of the heater core. The cooling system warranty is being extended from three years or 36,000 miles to six years or 105,000 miles. " The problem is I mentioned the letter I got from Ford and when they tried to pull up the TSB it was not found. I have not been able to find this TSB on the Ford website either. I can not find my letter and would appreciate it if someone could email or direct me to where I can find the full TSB for 09M04S1. I am prepping myself for another challenge as my PTU replacement was a bear. I recently got my tired replace (all 4) 3-4 weeks ago and now I have a repetitive dull beat sound like a metronome coming from my left rear tire. Just got a clamp that was loose replaced during this tire change as well. The post on my battery is corroded and needs to get replaced too. Not sure if I will get another LIncoln since service centers don't 2 cents. Plus one has to wait for a "Lincoln" certified tech to work on your vechicle which may mean a 1 week delay to even see the vehicle. Anyway, great forum and again if anyone can email me pho3nix2010@live.com the bulletin that would be extremely helpful. My "Lincoln appointment" is this monday Aug 9th in Alexanderia KY Ford dealership. Thank you.
