  1. One of my techs just got the truck up on the hoist and it appears that the outer brake pad was sticking in the carrier causing accellerated brake wear and rotor damage. So a pair of rotors and set of pads and I should be good. If anyone has this problem they should check to see if one pad is wearing more than the other. If caught early this is a cheap fix and it negates replacing a caliper.
  2. I have the same type of noise coming from my left rear wheel and I just took a look at it today before starting work.
  3. I had the same complaint when my wife and I rented a Hyundai Santa Fe. The vehicle was great but I didn't like the headrests however after a day of driving I was fine. The same happened with our 07 Edge. I don't rest my head on them when I'm driving however the fact that they touched the back of my head slightly was an adjustment. One thing that we all have to bear in mind is that the head rests are designed to prevent and reduce whiplash from rear end collisions and not to rest our heads. Volvo was one of if not the first automaker to design effective whiplash protection - WHIPS (WHiplash Protection System) which reduces short term injuries by 33% and long term injuries by 54%. My last car was a Volvo and I loved it. Anyhow I love my Edge more and that's the important thing.
  4. We love it. I actually don't mind being a passenger in it and that's saying a lot. I love everything about it so far. It has good power and decent gas mileage on the highway however in town isn't so hot but whatever, it's a truck so what do you expect right?
  5. So I previously owned a 95 Volvo 850 Turbo which I loved until I had a run in with a Honda Pilot. The Volvo did its job and absorbed the impact but it was a total loss. Shortly afterward the wife and I began shopping for a replacement vehicle and it was painful. We wanted to stay with Volvo and started looking at the XC70 but I couldn't get used to the cladding on the wagon. We then looked at the XC90 which was nice but found it hard to find a 2.5t as most were T6 (twin turbo 6) with the crappy Geartronic transmisson that Volvo is expecting 100% fail rate on. We then switched gears and started looking at other cross-overs and SUVs. We narrowed it down to the Pontiac Torrent, Murano (Wife), and the Edge (Me). I did some research on the Torrent and found out that the intake manifold fails. Having owned several GMs including a Suburban, 02 Avalanche and having to do fuel pumps on all including an intake manifold gasket on the Suburban myself it was easy to eliminate it from the equation. The in-laws have a Murano SE and it was nice to drive although it was a bit firm and the cargo was small and I didn't like the dash illumination. The Edge had more cargo for our dog and my hockey gear, etc plus it had a lot of passenger room all around. The wife was skeptical and had to drive it twice before we bought it and she was still skeptical. Now she absolutely loves it after driving it for 3 days and she gets envious when I take it to work. So far we love it and have no substantial complaints. The previous owner loaded it up with a lot of options minus navigation but I can live without that I guess unless I come across a Ford nav deck used. Ford definitely stepped their game up with the Edge. I think the only upgrade I'll do to the truck is a Hypertech E-con flash. It seems that there's a lot of active users here and a lot of info so I'm looking forward to becoming a part of the community.
