  1. Nozzles arrived this morning. Quick install and my sprayers are back to shooting over the windshield and onto the roof, just like I remember, thanks.

  3. Hi, 2008 Ford Edge SEL, about 145k miles. I did a quick search and didn't run across this topic on the forum. Has anyone else had to figure out what has caused a sudden drop in window wash spray pressure? A couple of weeks ago my windows wash sprayers appear to have gone out. I checked the obvious like making sure the reservoir was full (it is) and that the spray nozzles weren't plugged (they aren't), so I assume the problem is with the pump, but I don't know for sure. Wanted to check here before I go an try to figure how to replace the pump. I made a video of the current state of affairs - you can see I'm only getting a little bit of spray out of the passenger side nozzle and nothing at all on the driver's side.   4. Never mind, I just decided to go inside and watch golf for an hour, came back out, hammered the ever loving crap out of it one more time, and it broke loose. All patched up and ready to go. I didn't bother trying to plug the extra hole on the new rotors.
  5. quick follow up - is there a way to remove the thin metal shield behind the rotor without removing the rotor? It's blocking most of the area where I'd either grab or whack the thing. Also, the replacement rotors have a sixth hole in them that isn't plugged. The stock rotors had a rubber stopper inside this hole (they don't appear to be removable). Does it matter if this hole is not stopped up?
  6. Working on the rear pads and rotors. Got the driver's side done fairly easily, but passenger side rotor will not budge off the wheel hub I've nailed with pb blaster already and whacked it with a rubber mallet but it still won't come off. Are there any other tricks to try? Will
  7. Got the CD Error message a few weeks ago and I've been trying to fix it. I think that ship has sailed. I can now see the CDs in the unit, but I don't see a good way to remove them without breaking something. Is there a proper way to remove them? Or will any attempt further damage the player?
  8. All my CDs are already Mp3 burns. I had it set so that each disc was a discography for an artist, i.e. slot one was Foo Fighters discography, slot two was Pearl Jam discography, etc. Some discs have ~130 mixed songs from a single genre, so if I'm in a country music mood I could select slot three and listen for 6 hours straight. I haven't used a regular CD for more than 5 years. I used to carry an organizer around until I bought the Edge with the in dash changer. With all six slots filled I had significant variety and quantity of audio content at my finger tips. That's why I stopped carrying a CD organizer. That's also why going back to a single disc would be a big downgrade for me. However, faced with buying a replacement factory 6 disc unit at a ridiculous price vs. a single disc aftermarket unit, I'll probably go with aftermarket. First world problems, I guess...
  9. Dang! I just had an online chat with a Cruthcfield sales associate who told me that basically aftermarket in dash CD changers do not exist. What a beating! I do not want to fool around with an MP3 player while driving. Oh factory stereos, why do you mock me so? Every car I've ever owned has had some issues with the stock audio.
  10. Thanks, taking a look at the site now. I'm notcing something right off the bat - does no one make an in-dash CD changer headunit? I was quite accustomed to the changer in the factory unit. In fact I stopped carrying around a CD case over a year ago. However, I'm not seeing any aftermarket changers on the crutchfield site. Is that something only Ford is doing?
  11. Hello, my 6 disc CD changer (no sync, no nav, no sub) crapped out when I changed my battery last month. The CD player no longer works; the display reads "Initializing" and then "CD Error." I've tried unplugging and plugging it back in a couple times but no dice. I'm way out of warranty, so I need to fix/replace. I'd like to get an upgraded unit, but keep most of the existing functionality. Does a product exist that meets the following criteria? 1) fits double din space without dashkit. 2) supports steering wheel controls. 3) supports the aux in located in the console glove box. 4) supports sub woofer, should I choose to add one later. I don't want sync or navigation. I don't really want touch screen either, but I could live with it. Can any one suggest a unit that fits the above? Or am I being unrealistic with regard to steering wheel controls, aux in support?

  15. Thanks, that graphic showed me exactly where to remove the bezel. I tried to remove the stereo as well but it doesn't to want to come out. I removed the four 7mm hex screws holding the face in place, but on the right side it feels like there's another point of attachment that I'm not seeing. Can someone fill me in? *Update* nevermind, just had to really tug on it to get it unstuck.

  17. Some ne'er-do-well decided to forcibly shorten my Edge's antenna mast. Is it possible to just replace the mast, or do have to replace the whole unit?

  19. Ok, so this weekend I learned that replacing a dead battery screws up the 6-disc changer in a 2008 Ford Edge SEL. Apparently this is a common occurance. However, all the suggested solutions seem to entail getting the dealer to replace the player under warranty. Well, I'm outta warranty. Are there any other solutions? A few people suggest unplugging the radio and plugging it back in. I'll try that, but first I have to ask, how do I get to the radio? Does the sliver plastic trim simply pop off? Or is there another route I need to follow? Thanks
  20. Called the dealer down the street from my office, sure would have been convienient. The quote: Class 2 hitch - $230 Wiring Harness - $103 Labor - $400 Guy tried to tell me there was close to five hours of work to do the wiring. I laughed, told the guy I'd look for another route, and hung up. I think I've seen other threads here where dealers quoted between $300-$400 total. Did these numbers not include wiring?
  21. Hi, got a pre-sale question for you guys. I test drove an Edge a couple months ago and it had front passenger seat that folded down much like the second row seats. I don't remember the trim package of that vehicle (I think it was an 2008 but I don't remember it being a limited. I know that it did not have navigation). Now I'm shopping for 2008's and I want one a vista roof and the fold down front seat but no navigation. I read on wikipedia that the fold down front seat is standard on the limited trim. My question: is the fold down front seat an option for the SEL trim? If yes, then it's just a matter of finding a SEL model with that option. If not, then I guess I'll have start looking for limited without navigation (if they exist). Thanks.
  22. You may have a point. I haven't bought a car since 2003. All of my cars have been GM/Chevy and the sound has always sucked. *1979 Old Cutlass 1992-1995 *1992 Chevy Camaro 1995-2003 *2001 Chevy Camaro Z28 2003-Present. I listened to the radio on a 2008 Edge and it wasn't terrible, but there wasn't any low end and I wasn't sure if it supported Aux In for Sirius/XM (I have a portable unit). However, I also test drove a Buick Enclave and that radio was terrible, so I will not say that factory radio has caught up to aftermarket.
  23. You raised the entire floor? Do you have any photos of that? Also, is the amp located beneath the floor with the box? This sounds interesting.
  24. Good to know. I haven't had much luck with mp3 navigation software (on portable players) because the accuracy of mp3 tags on which the software depends is wildly inconsistent. If the Edge I select has Sync I'll look into it. Honestly I'll probably replace the head unit eventually which is one reason why I'm considering the Edge. I've had to cross so many vehicles of my list of possible purchases because they've got a bizzare radio mount configuration or they've integrated the radio and other functions, such as HVAC controls, meaning aftermarket replacement is either impossible or really difficult / expensive. It looks like they've done this to the 2011 Edge as well, so this may be the first and last Edge I ever buy.
  25. Thanks. I live in Florida and the vehicle would be in and around Floida 95% of the time so I didn't think I'd need to worry about AWD.
