  1. YEP! Now that I got the wiring diagram for my edge, and the connector wiring for the MAF/IAT connector, along with the G-Force unit and their instructions, I believe you all! Akirby's responce is right on too. They are tuning the car by adding Premium fuel and getting a little more advanced timing set through the IAT sensor with this (just as Blivitt said Over & Over, sorry about not listening to you Blivitt). I will still mess with it just to see what it does and then,.......You probably all know my answer. Thanks Blivitt. Thanks Akirby. Thank you everyone! I guess the ecu will reprogram itself to a little higher advanced timing setting by doing the G-Force chip, but I got a decent ecu switch (or reprogramming after driving 50-miles or so) and a noticable power increase and increased gas mileage bump, already, when I added the nice, large air intake with a K&N filter. I think the change in power & mileage might be about at the same level of results doing one or the other. I will test it to see if it goes up even more, by adding the g-Force Chip and Premium fuel added along with the nice Air Intake to accompany the extra air that it wants and needs when doing this. We will see, and then, I will make my decision to let it stay, or send it back. I told you that I like playing with things to see how they work or don't work. I won't do it for long, if it is a Mickey Mouse type of thing. PS. How do I set up my pics for this Forum when all I see is a web site link that is needed to get it assigned to my reply? I set up some pics in the gallery of the intake on my car. I don't know how to address it to place one pic here.
  2. Maybe. I am not sure, but they insist that if I open up the module unit, I will find a programmed Computer chip that they burned a program into, that will drive two lines with a programmed response, in amplitude and toggling, with a set on/off sequence depending on what the car engine is doing. All I can do is try it and see how she works. They claim that my ECU will actually reprogram some of its parameters by doing this, and will re-program the ECU further, if I drop in a full tank of Premium fuel, for even more horse power increase. So, have any of you guys called the G-Force people to quiz them? You might find out more than I got out of them to see if this is really any good or not. You guys definately know more about tuning and such, than I do, as I have never really done much of that with any of my cars. I did buy and program a HUMMER H-2 in 2007 and I did love the results, until the ECU crapped out due to some tuner programming problems that the company made good on for me. They sent me a new pre-programmed unit with an update and a new ECU. It sucked because my Hummer was stuck in a parking lot for two weeks waiting for the new units to be figured out and mailed to me. I just don't want any codes going OFF and limping into emergency modes, etc. I want it simple if it works. I should receive it by Friday and will let you know. I am also an electrical engineer and quizzed a few different people at G-Force about it. It sounds like it will check out. "As for a Supercharged Mustange Engine running Hotter than normal in Florida and runs just fine", all of the time, well, that is pressurized air which is basically unaffected by the Hot, Humid air. I own a Twin Turbo 2010 GTR and it always runs great, because it is presurrized. I ran my Lotus at the track on a hot summer night at the 1/4 mile track and it ran 2-second slower than the following week when it there was a slight cool snap with lower humidity (without running the Nitrous that is on it). The GTR always runs about the same at the track, no-matter what the weather. My 20-year Old Dodge Stealth Twin turbo (that I have owned for 20-years), gutted and set up with a Stillen stage III set-up, always runs about the same too, (Turbos pressurizing the engine, gets rid of the Hot, Humid, sluggish mode, of what our weather does to our cars performancs here. Straight built-up engine's here, are effected by this type of weather. I added a 100HP shot of Nitrous/Wet, to my Lotus a few years ago (2005), and it does help, but it is not as good against the Hot, Humid days, as a twin Turbo or a Super charger. The Lotus/Toyota Engine Loves the Juice and has shown no signs of Motor power loss or response all these years. I do have to be careful with the whimpy clutch though, but it is all still original. I do pull times of 11.2 sec. to 11.7 sec. in the quarter mile with the little Lotus Elise, which just depends on weather or not I hit the Juice in First gear on up, or start that spray in second gear, then on up. I did add the nice Intake and would like to show pics. How do I upload to this forum on my reply? Ps. I now get 22 MPG on my AWD 2011 Sport when going 75MPH, 24 MPG going 70 MPH, and 27 MPG going 65 MPH (plus 20 MPG City/suburbs). I was getting 16 MPG City and 18-20 MPG going 70-75MPH. So, the Intake did this so far for me. It also has a nice throaty sound when it runs up to 4000 RPM's, plus a little bit of a Super charger whistle noise when you get on it, and it sounds like an Evil Bear, when it hits 6000 RPMs. I think it pulls a little stronger, but that is hard to tell with just this little extra horse power added. So, I try things and see how they work.
  3. G-Force has been around for a while now. They stated to me by phone that their chip is an actual CHIP which is programmed on a Chip Burner with a Pre-Programmed TUNE that will actually change the ECU programming parameters just as a Tuner box will, but that it will be just one tuned program. It is not a resister of a system that changes the temperature readling. They say that those that do that out there are cheap ways to get your car to run a little more advanced than factory, but are really not very good. This is a Chip with a program that is individually burned for my 2011 Sport Edge 3.7 Engine and that programs are individually set with their our needed Tune based on the car, engine, etc. This is supposed to do just what the hand held will do, but is limited to just one nice 35-40HP increase on my engine and that it will show on a Dyno, and they do encourage me to do it and get the word out! $69 and it just plugs in ahead of the ECU. Mine arrive this week.

    Cold Air

Check out my reply on; "Performance Chips and Modules" with Blivitt. I bought my air intake from Rick Gindoy at www.ProZenMotorsports.com and he has great experience with our Ford Edge plus many other cars, for hand building the cold air intakes for the edge. It is 3" diameter, by the way, not 4", and I did do the upgrade K&N for $35 extra. I will post pics and the performance difference before and after when I get it next week and install it. The total cost on e-bay from him is; $115 + $35 +20 shipping. You can't beat that! It looks great on the MKZ that he shows on the e-bay sales listing. If you guys tell me how to upload some pics, I will send them to the Forum on this reply. Tell Rick that Buzzman sent you to him, just for the heck of it.
  6. Can tricking the ecu or the IAT into thinking it has a slightly cooler running temp than it really has, be harmful the car? I live in South Florida and it is always really hot out anyway. That is why our cars are always running around slightly in Retarded mode, more than not. It is too hot out and 90%-100% humidity almost all year long. WE lose a good 30 HP and most cars here, bog out on turns, stops, and Stop&Goes. They get, "not great mileage" from this condition and just run at bear minimum factory specs for gas mileage. So, fooling the IAT into correcting the timing a little and running closer to 14:1 air/fuel ratio, should keep it better, cleaner, and running near the higher end of the factory midrange specs, right? and know about it when I have my car serviced, with no reprocussions at all by them. Do you think I could cause any more (or less) damage to the longevity of the engine over, using a Tuner instead? The tuner can really mess things up for the engine,.... running at maxed out levels, on every plane, if I screw it up or don't get it tuned well enough, right? With this thing, I think it is safer for us, and if we put a tankful of Premium fuel, into the car here and there, then the car will run "good and fired up" for just that one tankful, with a good extra punch of power and gas mileage, right? Then, back to regular gas and just the few extra miles per gallon, all the while, having an extra 30HP or so, just enough extra that is wanted and needed for this. So, is there anything else that might be damaging over the long term by doing the Module hook-up? Let me know please. Ps. I am also putting in a 3" aluminum long tube to the divers side far corner of the engine bay, with a K&N filter cone, and some adapter plates to keep the MAF sensor from triggering a Check Engine Light and then the Limp mode sequence, if it is needed. The adapters if needed will change the air flow circulation just a little bit to make sure the intake air is not too high or swirled ahead of the MAF, if that triggers the sensor. So, do I have this part correct? I think this is all I will need on the airfilter set up at worst case. Please advise.

    Cold Air

Check out zchips & Mods I am buying a cold air 4" tube and K&N with the Maf adapter built-in, plus a G-Force Module. What do you think?
  8. From the Buzzman: Well, Akirby does not have any written proof that teh G-Force does not work. I will buy it and dyno the car before and after and track the mileage before and after. If it works, then great! If it does not, ...I get my money back. The G-force.com module controls the AST sensor that regulates your fuel air mixture, just as a Tuner would, but without changing your internal CPU programming. It does not hurt your Ford Warranty. It keeps your fuel air mixture at the perfect settings, even when it is Hot out, or you are stopping and then gunning it on a turn from a stop sign, etc. You don't get the Bogged down hesitation and your fuel economy goes up to peak performance at all times. Ford and other manufactures, have to set their tuning at a mediocure level of keeping your emmissions and stuff well within regulations, plus to limiy the extra power and concerns for all edges making thru the warrantee term, which hurts your HP and your mileage by 3-4 MPG. Also, when you add a full tank of 93 octane fuel, you instantly get a retuned and sensor controlled 35-45 HP increase! The module retunes as needed! So,....you want a higher mileage car, with similar but improved performance, just run regular fuel 87 octane. You want a suped up version for awhile, just add Premium fuel! I like the concept, and there is no down side to always trying to tune or retune your car, and,...you never have tuning issues or problems! i will give it a try and report all in writing. Akirby just mouths off all over this forum about it not working, and to forget it. Well, he does not have any proof of that. The company has been doing this for years with a money back guarantee, if you do not notice a good noticable improvement. they just set up the 2011 modules and are ready for purchase for the Ford Edge 2011. I for one, try things and experiment to see if they really do what they claim. So far, this seems to be the simplest way to get some extra OOOOOOMMFFFF!
  9. I will keep you guys informed. The car is awaiting trucking into the US and then down to FL. It could take three more weeks. I will then order the Module and Air Intake after delivery of the car. They take just a week or so to arrive.
  10. I ordered a 2011 Sport and I also got my dealer to include a stock Edge 2011 Hitch & Module harness for his cost, added to my bill. They will not install it, maybe, or maybe they will, for the added labor, but either way, I got my local Hitch shop to agree to install the Ford Hitch and hook-up for staight labot $44 for the hitch and $66 for the lights/module.
  11. I will order a nice air intake and a G-Force Sensor Module, and dyno it before and after, for my 2011 AWD Sport. I will also look into the x-3 from Evolution, and see what the claims are there. If the g-force does not work, it will go back, and I will order the Evolution system programmer. The car is due in 2-3 weeks.
  12. I have a 2011 Sport AWD due in about 2-3 weeks. I wanted to know how you like the power and handling with the heavier AWD (400lbs), even though you have the 3.5 Engine. Let us know how all that is please.
  13. My 2011 Sport Edge AWD White (for South Florida) began production Sept. 11th. It should have the works loaded into it and ship ina 2-3-weeks. I will add the Intake and the Warranty approved G-Force Chip to boost the power to around 335-350 HP. The milage should go up as well, so I will post the difference before and after. I found a GREAT custome Hand built Intake and will reveal all that with pictures, once I get mine installed. The K&N Cone Filter will sit up front, just behind the head light where the fresh cool air comes right in through the grill. The Intake Tube is about 3 1/2" -4" in diameter, with Blue Silicone gastkets and the MAP and sensors machined into it. It should do the trick to get me the 350HP. that I want. I can also dyno this before and after, on the AWD dyno at Jap Trix, in West Palm Beach. So Proof on paper, should show all.
  14. Why don't you guys just get the $69 G-Force Chip that just plugs in to the AIT sensor and then get 3-4 MPG more plus another 35-40 HP? Ps. I ordered my 2011 Sport AWD and it is due in in three- to four weeks. The serial number are due this week.
