  1. i have a 07 SEL + AWD with CD6 and I-pod hook up..and basic 4 speaker set up without subwoofer

I would like to upgrade it with aftermarket speakers and sub and maybe a new HU in time

Please list upgrades if any and what you did..thanks..

I added an After-market Kenwood DNX7100 Navigation with a Pioneer amp (Kenwood amp wouldn't fit under the rear seat), 4 Kenwood Excelon 280w 2-way door speakers, & Sirius.

  2. New Premium Radio with CDx6/MP3 and 4 two-way door speakers was removed from my new Edge prior to accepting delivery. Used just once to verify it worked. I replaced with after-market Nav system, amp, and speakers.

This system should fit many different Ford vehicles.

    Located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Will deliver free to local buyer. Will split shipping cost for long distance buyer.

First most reasonable offer gets it.

If interested, leave message at my Profile.

  3. I put HIDs on my Edge with no relay kit, and have seen no change in how my lights operate at all.

UPDATE: Actually, I installed some PIAA H/L Bulbs.....maybe not the same thing as "HID" bulbs???

UPDATE #2: The following is a description of the 'bulbs' I installed....definitely not HID, but as close as you can get according to the manufacturer....

"The blue top coat on these bulbs add a slight blue tint to the lamp while still providing outstanding performance. PIAA offers the 9000 Series Xtreme White Plus in four distinct types – 9004, 9005, 9006 and 9007. Manufactured to SAE recommended specifications and DOT compliant."

    "60w = 120w, 4000K"

These bulb are way better than the OEM bulbs without the need for a HID ballast.

  4. I have NEVER owned a vehicle with auto lights and was wondering if you can retain the automatic features with the HIDS?????

  5. As promised, below is a photo of one of the front mud-flaps I install that I ordered from the Ford dealer.

Also, I installed the Bug-shield that I ordered from the Ford dealer....notice is has "EDGE" etched on it.

    post-1092-1186351305_thumb.jpg post-1092-1186351324_thumb.jpg

Maybe the bugs fly lower where I live, or just wishful thinking, but I definitely notice that I have many fewer bugs on the windshield than I do on the bug-shield, side-mirrors, front bumper, and grill that I did before installation. :yup:

Also, a big THANK YOU to the 'staff' for moving this topic. :shades:

  6. Thanks so much for the great information! Do you happen to have a photo of the front mudflaps? Still pondering this option, thinking of the crappy winters we have with the slush buildup! You must have similar weather!

    sorry :banghead:

    You're welcome 'Dinoskate'!

I will post some pics with the mud-flaps installed after I wash my Edge later today or tomorrow. :shades:

I currently live in Colorado, but will be moving to North Dakota next year, so I'm thinking ahead.

I also recently installed a bug-deflector that I ordered from Ford, and it has already proved it's worth.

  8. Don't need them on the rear as you can see in the above photo.....however, I did order the front ones from the dealer, and I just installed them yesterday.

:stop::redcard:However, be aware that the instructions included are not exactly correct. :redcard::stop:

These same mud-flaps are a 'one size fits all' product from Ford. They are made to install on the Edge, MKX, Explorer, & Navigator.

If you follow the enclosed instructions as I did, you will wind up returning them to the dealer, as I did, to have them order another set (at their cost). :finger: The mud-flaps have a template on them with vehicle-designated marking where you are supposed to drill your mounting holes.....if you drill them as indicated in the instructions, they will wind up being install very crooked :banghead: , and look terrible.

The only "Hole Location" that is correct is the "E" hole. The remaining two holes will need to be created by you (the installer) near the designated "Hole Locations" of "M" & "U". I first drilled the "U" hole in the mud-flap using a 1/8' bit (not the 1/4" sized bit the instructions tell you), mounted the mud-flap(s) using the existing screw in the wheel-well, then using a level make them straight, I made my own markings to drill the remaining two "Hole Locations" before drilling into the sheet-metal of the wheel-well. Also the instructions say to use a 7mm wrench to remove the existing screw ("U")....totally wrong, not even close, with or without a conversion to US....it turned out to be a 7/32" wrench.

If you read the printed instructions first and then compare them to what I described above BEFORE you start or drill any holes, it will all make sense, and you'll save time and frustration. When I returned the first set to the dealer, the Parts Manager totally agreed with me that the instructions were bogus...no problems there at all. :yup: I also used a black silicone sealant on the holes I drilled into the sheet-metal.

Please let me know if you have any questions in case I left something out.

  9. Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I've been reading post for a few days and decided to join so I could post as well. I've had my edge for a week now and I love it.

I bought the Pewter SEL Plus which looks more like a gray/blue color if you ask me. The best part about the color...I have yet to see an Edge that is the same color as mine. I have all of the options except the DVD Nav package and reverse sensing. I love the BAMR (just found out what that means). Everyone who has been in my car loves it. I especally love the white stitching on the charcoal leather interior.

I look forward to reading future posts.

Enjoy your new ride and post some pics to share with us.

  10. Dealer badges are my BIGGEST PET PEEVE.

I always ask what they use for a badge and instruct them prior to delivery NOT to attach anything to the vehicle.

However, they do use a license plate trim to advertize - which I allow - then remove after a short while.

I learned this one from Dad years ago - who always had it removed.

This dealer has three different lots.....one in Denver, and two here in Colorado Springs.....unfortunately I had it delivered from Denver (only one that had everything I wanted) and it already had all their advertising junk on it.....the two lots in Colorado Springs use adhesive to attach their badges (would have been easy to remove without leaving a mark).....oh well.

This particular dealer was very persistent......they also added license plate frames to the front and rear of my Edge with their advertising on it.......they were the first thing I removed! :finger:

  11. I share this with others who may have a similar issue......and would like an alternate way to resolve it.

The Ford dealer I purchased my Edge from could not have put their "Dealer Badge" in a worse place.....directly below the "Edge" on the back (see photo "Before" below). The most annoying aspect of this was the fact that they used sheet-metal screws to mount it instead of adhesive. :banghead:

    post-1092-1185481190_thumb.jpg

So I was forced to get a little creative by removing the badge, and cover the screw holes without going through all the trouble/expense of patching and painting.....(see After #1 & 2 photos below).....I used a scrap piece of chrome body/door molding that was given to me by a local shop......I cut it long enough to cover the screw holes that I filled with sealant. I also cut it using the angles you see to make it look like it might almost belong there.

Larger images can be seen by clicking on the thumbnails.

If I would of special ordered from the factory, this would not have been done since most dealers are good about not doing it if you ask them not to.

  12. We picked up our Edge today.

After way to much deliberation we decided on the SEL Plus, Vista, Redfire with Black Charcoal Leather and trailer tow.

Odd though, it came with Michelins as oppoesed to the Continentals on the ones on the lots. Same Chrome rims though.

So far 1 KM and all is well.

Looking forward to putting some miles on it.

Welcome to the "Edge World"!

I was bummed to get Continental tires on my new Edge last month, :banghead: ...so I've ordered a new set of Michelins from Sears. :shades:

Enjoy your new ride! :happy feet:

  13. My BAMR bug guard became the burial ground of far too many insects on my trip to the Outer Banks.

    :rip:

Does anyone have any good suggestions for cleaning off the material?

    ARack

Try vacuuming first to get the big chunks, then a soft brush or sponge with mild/diluted exterior car wash soap....then let it up/open in the sun to dry.

....just a suggestion.....I haven't needed to try it yet.....

  14. So I thought, in response to all the reviews and critics, we could state why we bought our Edge and what makes the Edge stand apart from its competitors.

It appears that actual owners are far more enthusiastic about the Edge than the car critics - here is your chance to state why you love your Edge and what made you choose it over its rivals.

We all know the Edge aint perfect - so tell us why you love the Edge.

When I began my search for a replacement for my 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis LS, I would have considered another 'new' Grand Marquis, but with my move from Colorado to North Dakota next year, I needed something more appropriate for the 'north country' winters.

I researched all the competition in this vehicle class with three 'must-have' criteria, and landed on the Edge because it met and/or exceeded all three.

    1) Must have AWD

    2) Must have comfortable ride on road trips (I take a lot of road trips).

    3) Must have gas mileage that equals or exceeds my Grand Marquis.

The Edge was the only CUV to meet or exceed my needs.

The Edge also had many features I like above the rest.

    1) No third row seats.

    2) Awesome styling.

    3) Vista Roof.

    4) Quiet

    5) Enough horsepower to enter the interstate.

    6) Lots of cargo room.

    7) My 19yo son thinks it "cool". :shades:

The EPA gas estimates for my Grand Marquis are almost identical to the Edge. I can get up to 30mph on the hywy and 18mph in the city when I keep my foot light. :yup: So I expect to do almost as well with my Edge after the break-in period, and switching to synthetic oil.

Is the Edge perfect?......nothing is!.....but it come a lot closer than the competition.

  15. Are those rims you have from the factory or aftermarket? I saw an Edge on the QEW a few weeks ago from NY state and it had those rims.

Sorry 'vino125', they are factory optional wheels......I didn't now they were only available in the US. If I decide to replace them with different after-market wheels, I'll let you and Edgy Girl know. :shades:

  16. The moldings look great on your Edge! I'm now thinking about black ones for my (black) Edge. Are they difficult at all to put on?

    Hey MHOsborn....

I'm also thinking about a set for my black Edge. Please let us know how they look after install with photos if possible. I'm also curious if there is a recommended height/location from the ground up from Sportwing?
