  1. Hello, I currently have MFT v.1.8 which is working fine since 10 months ago. I would like to upgrade since I find that overall it's a bit slow and navi will give me distances in miles instead of kms. I received the letter from Ford some time ago but I'm still debating if the MFT upgrade will create more problems that will solve. Basically I don't want to start experiencing the problems mentioned by others (black screens, reboots, module replacement). Any experiences with the upgrade from 1.8 that was working without issues?
  2. This pretty much sums my experience of 10 months with v.1.8 too. Although no iOS, it still could be better even for a car system.
  3. Where did you find the loose contact ?

    I think i might have the same problem where my horn will chirp for no reason day or night.

I got a bit of an issue with ESC as in although I managed to get into an oversteering situation i.e. the back of the vehicle became unstable and kinda drifted away I did not see or felt the ESC kicking in. This happened twice, once for me and another time for my wife when doing a left turn in slippery conditions this winter. Otherwise the traction with AWD and winter tires seems to be great.
  5. So did somebody got the Weathertech liner or/and floor mats (digital fit / all-weather) and can confirm that they fit properly on the 2001 Edge? I'm thinking of buying a tan set since Ford did quite a poor job with their cargo/all weather mats package: The cargo cover was taken off immediately and the all weather liners are black vs. the tan interior I have. And the quality of the cargo liner is nothing to write home about, although can't complain either Thanks.
  6. Hello, 2011 Ford Edge, 200km. I started experiencing the following problem: No horn sound/chirps at any time (locking, panic, pressing the horn, etc.). Otherwise the locking and panic seems to work fine, i.e. lights blinking. Noticed 1st time when parking the car at home 2 days ago, although I used the horn 5 min. earlier and heard the chirp in the morning when locking the vehicle. Does anyone has any suggestion? I would rather try something before spending time into the dealership service dept. Thanks. This is a double post - I posted the same in the Alarm forum. Does anyone know how to link the same thread into more than one forum?

  8. Hello, I am contemplating buying extended warranty for my '11 Edge AWD Limited which I will take delivery in a few days. I have 2 main issues I would like to ask for feedback on the subj., especially since it would the first time I would buy an extended warranty. Usually I don't believe in extended warranties but this is a vehicle full of electronics... and also recently my father-in-law plasma broke right after the 2-year warranty expired.:o 1. The first really important point is the price. From my research in Canada the Ford ESP price is incredibly higher compared with US. I was quoted $3850 cad - for 7yrs/150k kms Premium Care - with $100 deductible I believe - I hope tax in I found only one online dealer that offered the same for 3200-3500 depending on the deductible so basically no improvement. From what I read such an US ESP goes for less than 2k - actually $1500-$1800. I was wondering what pricing experience did you guys have with Ford ESP, especially in Canada. The best price I found mentioned for Ford ESP in Canada was for an F-150, the guy mentioned he paid $1920 cad for a 31k vehicle. 2. The second important point is if it's worth to buy one and if worth to buy now. I am looking to keep the car around 5 years, ideally 7. I am also aware that lots of things change during 5-7 years. I could buy now or within a year, then as far as I know the price increases after each year. Or I could decide to buy before the factory warranty expires depending on the kms at the time and # of 'incidents' . Does anybody know the pricing levels depending on the moment the extended warranty is bought?

  11. After I ordered my Edge Limited I sat in an MKX and I was pleasantly surprised. I'll put my 2c pros and 2c cons in here: -I like the MKX grille quite a bit more than Edge's -I really dig the heated steering wheel with wood, although I do not like the wood trim in general. -Significant better leather seats. -Very nice leather dashboard -Nicer taillights -Decent 20" rims without chrome - I find the 20''s from the Edge horrible - that's why I ordered 18" -Very nice aluminum trim especially the bronze one. However and although the upgrade would have cost me only 5-6k at the time in Canada: -I don't consider the engine upgrade significant enough. Why they did not put the Ecoboost V6, even slightly detuned in Sport and MKX is beyond me. (maybe too expensive?) -I consider the Sony piano black center stack in the Limited more upscale than the one in MKX which is just slightly better than in Edge SEL -The hatch door alignment tolerances are way off for a luxury brand...worse than a Hyundai Sonata and this for 80% of a dozen MKX I looked at. -The Lincolns are sold in the same dealership as Ford and I've been in a several luxury dealerships - it's a totally different vibe. -I expected the Auto Park feature from the MKT to be present in the '11 MKX too -Overall I would buy a Q5 over a MKX for the same money - call me a snob but I consider the brand cachet way higher for an Audi plus I consider it a better exterior design

  13. The cargo cover sucks. Thanks for posting the pictures. Now I'll try to modify my order - it should be possible since I don't have a VIN yet. Other crossovers/wagons have reclining seats too and they have a proper retractable solution. I pay 40k on a car and get this? WTF? The whole package should be just $100 or at least they should have thrown the rubber mats in.
