  1. Hey guys, it could be worse. My 2000 F150 has the outside temp gauge too, but it is usually about 10 degrees too warm. According to a couple different dealerships it seems the brilliant engineers put it too close to the engine and it gets extra heat from that. :banghead:

And yes, my Edge is high like everyone else's, but to be high by a 1 or 2 degrees I'm extremely happy with that. :hyper:

  2. I don't have the Vista roof on my Edge, so I can't speak from personal experience. But, I did do a fair amount of research prior to getting my Edge, spoke with a lot of owners and read up here on the forums, most who I spoke to had the Vista roof and are happy with it and didn't have any problems. Although, there were quite a few who wished they didn't get it for all the problems they've had. A lot of them learned that the track the roof should be 'gliding' on didn't have any grease or if it did, it wasn't enough. Hence lots of crazy noises and it would stop moving on the track, friction is great for that. Once the track got greased properly at the dealership all was good. Only problem was it usually took a few trips to the dealership for it to be figured out...

  3. No, cars are not normally female. You will have to wait until the car trusts you before it will reveal it's gender. There are a few hints you may pick up on that may help you determine it's sex early. Normally cars that are male run more consistently. He will run the same today as he did yesterday and the day before. She will run like a bat out of hell yesterday and be a little pissy today. Normally, if caught on the right day, the female car will be a little quicker. This information may be found in it's entirety on my website, your cars sex and how to use that information most effectively, or ycsahtutime. The way to talk to different gender cars is important. The male car will take the occassional "you POS" and try a little harder for you, however to talk to the female that way will undoubtably result in plugged injectors and a serious decrease in your mpg figures. Thus endeth lesson number 1. LOL

    So true!!!

  4. Mine is less than a week old and in the shop for this too...you'd think they would correct this problem prior to selling it so the consumer wouldn't be bothered by it. Just lowers initial satisfaction, especially when family and neighbors see the new ride, and in less than a week it's back in the shop for a few days...

  5. Thanks for the reply. That helps a lot. The way the program works is that I pay X dollars up front, and then monthly payments of $335/month. That $335/month covers gas, car washes, insurance, maintenance, brakes, tires, everything. So, to answer your question, no, I don't have to pay for gas. If the car gets 20 mpg or 10 mpg, it makes no difference to me because I pay the same amount.

The nimbleness is the thing that attracts me to the Edge over the Explorer. My daily commute is 65 miles round trip and it's all highway miles. My concern with the Explorer is that it might not be so great on the highway (at least not compared to the Edge). Have you had the chance to drive the Edge on the highway? If so, how does it compare to your 2006 Explorer?

I drove an Edge SEL for about 1200 miles on vacation from Ohio to the Smokey Mountains in Tenn., ~1000 highway miles. I can't speak for the Explorer, but the Edge handled great on the highway and had great passing power. If you've ever driven through the hills in West Virginia or Virginia then you know what it means to have good power. Going up and down the Smokey Mountains it handled pretty good there too. I have an F150 and I was literally shocked at how good the Edge handled and right now I'm trying to decide whether I'm going to get an 07 or 08. I wish they offered the dark blue on the 07.

If your unsure as to how it would do with your daily commute, try renting one for a week or weekend. My rental only cost me $258 for 10 days through Enterprise, it was money well spent.
