  1. I have a 09 Limited AWD Edge. Has anyone else had a problem with a loud rattling/clicking noise coming from the backseat area? It's coming from the left side of the backseat and tends to occur most often while going over bumps or when braking. Some days it's loud and other days it's nonexistent. On the days it can be heard, I can actually reproduce the sound (less audible version) by grabbing the top of the backseat and shaking it back and forth.

I've taken it to my local dealer twice already and they haven't been able to figure it out. It's driving me crazy. Any suggestions or ideas?

    Thanks

Please let me know if you receive this attachment Service Order written for similiar problem on right rear (psgr side). This certainly corrected the problem. No more rattle thanks for a great dealer service dept.

  2. I realize my question was poorly worded but I do know what GLASS is !

I should have asked about the black painted areas around the glass. I wasn't sure about that area since the rest of the car is Creme Brulee. I was just trying to figure this out BEFORE I went to detailer so I'd iknow if he was BSing me or not.

Thanks for taking the time to respond and thanks for your suggestions.

  3. My spots are located at the rim edge near the actual tire.

They look like blacken spots (raised bumps) and you might feel cracklin when pressing with a finger

Looks kinda like a mold spot... does not come off.. not dirt..

Sounds like the way mine started out and just got worse. Took Edge to dealer today and they took one look and said they would order new wheels. Hope the replacements are better quality.

  4. Maybe this will help.

I'm having trouble setting the memory/seat feature on my new Edge. My wife uses #1 tranmitter and everything works great for her. I use #2 transmitter and the seat function works fine, but the mirror goes to a generic setting. I have to tip the mirror up when ever I use the car. I'll press "set" like it says in the maunual and within 5 secs I'll press the "lock" or "unlock" button on the transmitter, then press "2" on the set button. It will not stay there if I exit the car and lock the door, because when I unlock the door to re-entry,the mirror moves the generic seting. If I don't lock the door, the mirror won't move from the last time I set it. I hope this makes sense to someone, because I don't know what i could be doing wrong and the dealer said they couln't find anything wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I THINK I may have figured this out. I was following the same directions that you were and I could get one set but not two.

I went to MyFordEdge.com and downloaded 2007 Edge owners manual to see if it gave the same directions. No they are different as shown on pages 116 & 117. These directions are a lot different!!!!

Both 1 & 2 seem to be working properly now.

    Activating the memory feature.

    1. Position the seat and mirrors to the desired positions.

    2. Press the SET control on the driver's door panel.

3.Within 5 seconds, press the 1 or 2 control on the drivers door panel to associate with the Driver 1 or Driver 2 position.

    4. Press the SET button again.

5.Within 5 seconds, press a button on the associated Intergrated Keyhead Transmitter.

    6. Within 5 seconds, press the 1 or 2 control on the driver's door panel to associate with the Driver 1 or Driver 2 position.

Hope this works for you too.

    You're welcome.

  5. Have 2007 Edge FWD since Aug.,07 approx 6,000 miles. On two 1200 miles trips and 2 300 mile trips I averaging 24-26 MPG driving 65-75 MPH. Averaging 19-20 MPG around town and mixed driving. No complaints here.

  6. I took notice of this when I was at my dealer the other day after reading another comment about it online. I find it incredibly cheap, not to mention misleading, for Ford to advertise this option as they do when, in fact, they are nothing more than chromed plastic hub caps. I mean, this is an option that is billed as "18-inch Premium Chrome Clad Wheels" with a price tag of $750! Really? C'mon.

It's this kind of stuff that turns me off to Ford. They market their cars as having impressive features and options, but when you scratch the surface (not difficult considering it's probably a hard-plastic surface), you find that it's half-baked or faux/simulated instead of giving you the real deal for the money. I guess they think they can fool enough people to make it worth it. I mean, an 08 Edge Limited with a few options such as Vista Roof and nav can easily reach into the $36K+ range. For the same money you can buy a 2008 Infiniti G35x AWD sport sedan which offers much more performance, luxury and technology. If it weren't for the fact that I get Ford X-plan pricing, I'd be at the Infiniti dealer right now instead of the Ford dealer (does anyone who doesn't get Ford plan pricing actually buy Fords anymore?). I know I'm comparing a sport sedan to a cross-over (not apples to apples exactly), but my point is that the Infiniti is a much more advanced, high-performance and luxurious vehicle for the same money. If a luxury brand like Infiniti can build the G35x, with much higher quality materials, more advanced AWD system, more powerful and smooth engine, more advanced features inside, better audio system, etc., etc. and sell it for $36K, why can't Ford come up with something a little closer to the mark for that price? I mean, every interior surface in the Edge is shaped out of hard plastic! There's not one soft-touch surface anywhere save for the leather wrapped steering wheel! And if the seating surfaces are actually leather, then why don't I smell leather when I get in the car? Maybe because the smell of new hard plastic is drowning out the leather smell?!! I get into my 2005 G35 Coupe, which is 2.5 years old now, and all I smell is leather. I get in a new Edge with leather seats, all I smell is plastic! And why does only the driver's window have one-touch down and none of the windows have one-touch up? Most other manufacturers, even non-luxury brands, at this point provide one-touch up and down for at least the front windows.

I don't expect Ford to measure up to Infiniti or any other luxury brand for that matter. Ford is, and should be, a value brand. All I'm saying is that if you're going to produce a vehicle such as an Edge Limited that prices in the mid-thirties and advertise features such as chrome-clad wheels and leather interior, at least make these items the real deal. If I'm paying $750 for 18" chromed aluminum wheels, I want true 18" chrome-plated wheels. Otherwise, describe the option as chrome plastic hub caps and sell it for the $150 it's worth. And if I'm spending the money for the leather seating option, I want to smell some nice leather when I get in the car. And, at this price, a few soft-touch interior surfaces (maybe the arm rests, for example) would be nice. And design a more impressive-looking stereo face, too, while your at it. These plain-jane, black face, green-LED readout stereos are a joke from the 1980's! Put some style and an LCD readout into it!

OK, I've started to go way off-topic. Sorry. I don't know if the new styles of chrome rims they are offering on the 2008 Edge are the same deal or not. I personally find the plastic chrome wheel covers offered on the Edge to be ugly, so I would likely just order the Edge with the standard wheels and hit tirerack.com for some real chrome-plated aluminum wheels in a more attractive style anyway. Then I'd just try to sell the original wheels on eBay or something for a few hundred bucks. The net result should put me in close to the same area as the plastic hub cap option offered by Ford from a cost perspective.

Not a $750.00 option. When buying my SEL Plus in Aug, the standard wheel was a 17 inch. To upgrade to a 18 inch(not chrome plated) was a $350.00 option. The 18 inch chrome plated was a $750.00 option. So the way I see it, it's only $400.00 option for the chrome plated.

  8. That depends on the final price after the $3K dealer discount. Forget the rebate - you get that either way. Look up the MSRP and dealer invoice. Subtract $150 from dealer invoice for the Edge or add $200 to dealer invoice for the MKX and compare those prices to MSRP - $3K. Then you have to account for the $300-$400 documentation fee that the dealer will add without X plan.

I can almost guarantee you the price out the door will be less with X plan. If you can find a vehicle in stock at a dealer using the Ford inventory search I can look up the X plan price for you. Just need the dealer's name, zip and the vehicle model and last 5 of the VIN.

aKirby, thanks for offer to check XPlan for me. I sent e-mail with info. Thanks much

  9. X-plan also allows you to 'stack' all incentives being offered if any at the time of purchase. Typically, as an example, you generally are offered 1,000 cash back OR low % financing. Under x-plan guidelines you get the x-plan price PLUS the 1,000 cash back PLUS the low % financing. Of course this is dependent on the vehicle you are interested in and what actual incentives are offered on the vehicle. As AKIRBY said, no dealer add-on fees allowed..NONE!

How would X-Plan apply (if at all) to $4000. off MRSP $1000. rebate and $3000. Dealer Discount ?

    Thanks
