  1. In fairness to Ford... I've jumped on every update and waisted boo coo hours in the service department. I still have the same basic issues as I had from day one over 6 months ago.

Ok, see... THIS is why I'm not jumping on the updates!

(and I'm the kind of guy who usually updates everything immediately)

Sync/Touch = great idea, terrible execution. I love having it, but I'd complain a lot less if it actually worked like it was supposed to.

Who wants to wait a minute for their car to decide to play the next mp3 track?

Or wait 30 seconds to turn on the seat heat? (My butt is cold now!)

  2. I can understand your hesitation to get the latest updates. But, in fairness to Ford, if you aren't getting the latest releases of their software then you really can't complain about stuff that isn't working. Even if the last release caused someone else problems those issues might not manifest on your system, but then it could also be very possible that some (or maybe all) of the issues you are having would have been addressed with it.

For the most part I think it's fair to say that each update Ford has posted has made things better than they were on previous updates. Did any update completely fix everyone's problems 100%, no. But it seems to be moving in the right direction. I would not fear the updates unless people start reporting they introduce new problems.

In fairness to the consumer - the stuff that isn't working ought to have been working the day I bought the car!!

But seriously, I'll get the update. It's not fear keeping me back - it's distrust. I don't want to wait at a dealership. I don't want to have to go back after they mess something up.

Ok, I'm cynical -- but there's plenty of history to back it up.....

  3. This sounds weird to me...

I don't have mine yet, but I didn't think the '11 model had a "Jukebox" feature. Isn't that where it has an internal hard drive where you can copy cds? I've read both the owner's and the MyFord Touch manuals and didn't see it mentioned.

Yeah, we don't have a Jukebox feature. I decided not to order it, based on the fact that this guy obviously doesn't know anything about my '11 Edge.

  4. I've tried to use a Verizon USB "air card" device, but Sync doesn't recognize the device. Has anyone used the Verizon USB cards?

I haven't tried Verizon, but I know it won't work with my AT&T USB card.

So far, the only success I've heard of is using Bluetooth to get the car connected to the internet - then it sounds like the car's wifi hotspot functionality works....

  5. I've got a 2011 AWD Edge and I'm getting what I called a "KLUNK" sound from the rear end. Good to know there is a TSB...even if it may not apply to 2011

I get the SAME thing on my 2011 AWD Edge - at lower speeds, if I let off on the gas a bit, coast for a sec, and then hit the gas again, I get a loud THUNK as it kicks me into gear. (I'm not even flooring it)

Guess I'll check with the dealer and see if there's a known issue on the 2011's

  6. I wish I could find the original post to ask the poster if they had any experience with this bypass. Maybe someone with a Edge model can offer their experience as well.

I just e-mailed Brett at Coastal, and he says this:

"Great News! The Sync 2011 Edge factory Ford radio with the internal hard drive and "Jukebox" mode is completely compatible with the Coastal Electronics Sync LockPick. This LockPick offers features such as NAV in motion, video in motion, and camera on demand (if equipped) which allows full camera viewing in any gear!"

It seems like they say it will work, and I'm thinking about ordering it, but I'm still talking to him to make sure this is fully compatible with the 2011 Edge Limited.

  7. This is one of the reasons, why I'm excited for my Sport to show up... i sure hope it works!! I'll let you know how I progress on this, as I play around with the WiFi. From my understanding, the hotspot will only activate while in park correct? You're capable of 'connecting' to the Edge, but the wifi is 'aquiring address', or something of this nature? Is that whats going on?

In park, I even get an address... but I can't access anything on the device.

It's like I joined a private network that has no internet access.

Wireless client has an IP and a default gateway assigned from the Ford Edge, but that's about it!

Let me know what you find...

  8. LOL

    Nice ride.

Looks like the New Jersey birds like the Earthy tone also

Hahaha, yeah, I knew somebody would point that out.

I'm due for a wash, but its been raining here....

Oh, and yeah -- paint chips in the brochure + ford website did NOT do this color justice.... I wanted Tuxedo Black, but when I saw this one on the lot I changed my mind!

  9. I've been trying to get the WiFi hotspot feature working on my 2011 Edge, but no luck.

I have a USB card with AT&T service (the Mercury model) that ought to work -- I know it works on my laptop...

When I plug it in, the car seems to see it (I can select it on the screen).

I go to the WiFi screen, and tell the car to create a hotspot... then I try to connect to that hotspot from a laptop.

I can connect, and I get an IP address -- but I can't get out to the internet.....

    Has anybody made this work?

  10. The Backup Camera on my new Ford Edge Sport 2011 will scroll at times - doesn't happen all the time, however, when it does, it goes away after i shut the engine and restart. Has anyone else experienced this intermittent issue and know the cause of it?

    YES.

It happened once on my Limited, a few weeks ago.

Shut it off, came back a few minutes later, and problem went away.

Took it to the dealer, and they basically were useless - saying if it wouldn't do it for them they couldn't help.

Only happened the one time, though.

  11. The Dream: MFT will have an app that lets the touch screen just emulate the iPhone screen when you have iPhone connected via USB. A boy can dream the impossible dream....

Hey, I had the same dream.... too bad at this point it's looking like just that and nothing more.

ALTHOUGH -- you COULD use the dock connector to video out, and get some apps to work on your touchscreen.

CONS: wouldn't work while driving, and no touch functionality.
