  1. Decided to go with the hitch/basket/vinyl solution. Something like the two attached pictures. Looking for any recommendations on basket/vinyl carrier combo. Does a 20 cubic foot container look too big/obtuse on an Edge/MKX/Nautilus, etc? Guess I can always order it and try it out, but it would be best to get feedback first. Thanks.
  2. mr_jason: thank you so much for that. I was under the impression that yakima.com or thule.com would say "too bad, so sad" when I entered my vehicle and info (like vista roof, etc.) Turns out that Yakima.com does have a solution for me. A bit pricey, but it's there if I need it. Wife won't accept a trailer. So now I need to choose between a hitch/cargo getup or the yakima BaseLine System + cargo box on top.
  3. Looking to add a hitch and either 1) cargo box or 2) cargo basket + cargo (like vinyl) container Given that the rear cargo space (with seats upright) is about 37 cf, I don't think it's worth it unless I can add about 20 cf. (maybe I would do it if it's at least 15 cf). U-Haul would want about $450 installed, and option 2 above runs about $200. Option 1 runs anywhere from $500 on up. Unfortunately cannot do anything on top because of the Vista sunroof and there's no rails at all. Looking for any suggestions and perhaps some pictures. I do know that some Edge owners have used Yakima clips of some sort to accomplish this. OK full disclosure time: I USED to own an Edge and I had this exact same issue. Never did anything about it because it never really came to a head. Now I own an MKX and everything is the same: Vista and no rails. The Lincoln MKX forum just doesn't have the number of members that this forum does. Will be taking my son off to college in August and that 37 cf just doesn't seem like enough volume. Could rent a car (like say a Tahoe or something) but that runs about the same as the total cost of the hitch/cargo, so why throw the money away when I can keep the goods? Thanks, Scott
  4. I'll give some datapoints. I'm in a very similar situation. I'm looking to replace the 4 OEM tires (Michelin Latitude Tour HP, 245/26R18). Considering getting the Michelins again, or perhaps the Continental LX20 (great reviews on TireRack) or the Bridgestone Dueler 422 Ecopia (similar reviews on TireRack). Leaning towards the Continentals. Reviews found here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=CSTAS Costco has a good deal on Bridgestones now, $70 if you buy four, so I'm tempted by that also. If I go with the Continentals, I'll be going to Town Fair Tire (chain here in NE)
  5. 2 tires in front are at 7/32 2 in back are at 3.5/32, so they won't pass inspection. I have a leftover original tire, it's also at 7/32. So I see two options, get a used tire (Mich Lat Tour HP) from Ebay and have Town Fair Tire mount it and the leftover original tire. Or, just get 4 new tires. I'm considering the Continental CrossContact LX20. Great reviews on tirerack.com. Also am a fan of Dunlop - the Signature CS seems like a good choice also. Any suggestions/comments? Anyone gone from the Michelin Lat Tour HP to another brand? My Edge is the 2010, SEL AWD. Thanks, Scott Tire Rack Crossover/SUV Touring ALl-Season survey results: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=CSTAS
  6. Does anyone know where I can get full specifications on the audio system in my 2010 Edge? I have the 2010 Edge with the normal audio system: 6-disc changer AM/FM radio 4 speakers + subwoofer Here's a picture of what I have: Picture of the head unit that came with the Edge I would like to get full specifications, but I'm most interested (for now) in the subwoofer. Btw, does anyone know where it's located - is it possible to just look at it?
  7. I'm thinking of doing something similar. I've got a new 2010 Edge with the standard audio system and, of course, SYNC. I'm already weary of the head unit - looking for a good navigation system and, if possible and not too much more, to keep the SYNC. I've been looking hard at the Alpine INA-W900 system along with this to retain sync: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_14328_Axxess+AFSI-01.html Any comments, suggestions would be welcome. I don't really want to keep the SYNC because I can always call the 800 number for SYNC's Services, and the H.U. has all of the bluetooth hands-free calling, but I know my wife will be upset if I tell her that the SYNC's 911-assist feature will be removed. Maybe the $130 to keep the SYNC is worth it :-) Any comments about the Alpine and/or SYNC retention? Scott
