  1. As far as mounting, i followed how bluetexan mounted his ballasts. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/2045-digital-35watt-and-55watt-hid-member-pricing/page__hl__%2Binstalling+%2Bhids__st__60 I mounted the passenger one like he did behind the fluids. Only thing is i pointed the ballast the other directions so the wires came out of the top and didnt go beneath. For the driverside i installed like he did below the wheel well, but you should FIRST order at least (1) one foot extension wire for the ballast to relay from Todd so it can make it down there, I ordered (2) one foot extensions and had plenty of wire to make it comfortably down there and than hide and zip tie neatly. At first i had installed the driver side infront of the fuse box, but it was to cluttered and I would never be able to open the headlight caps because the adapative lights sit so far back. I recommend putting it down behind wheel well, It was only like 6 bolts you had to take out (removing the wheel is way easier when getting a drill in there too) I also used self tapping screws so I didnt even pre-drill the hole, just lined it up with bracket and screwed it in. Worked perfectly. ******** ^^^^ that was an older post i put to help someone else out on another discussion. I have since moved both ballast behind the wheel well on the driver side, like the 5th picture bluetexan posted....if that doesnt clarify it for you let me know, and i can try to help you some more.
  2. Hes saying have fun driving with one light out... its a game, your suppose to say "pididile" when your driving and you see an oncoming car that has one head light out, than the opposite sex in the car is suppose to remove a piece of clothing...
  3. why do you say that? Ive had mine in for at least 4months now with no issue...I had a bad capacitor which would randomly turn off one of the headlights sometimes while they warmed up (5 seconds after turning on)...but turning them off and back on instantly would get them both on and than they always stay on after that RS also sent me a new capacitor for free which fixed that small issue anyway....never have i drove with one light out
  4. Ahh, okay i forgot it has those on each side, one side you will not use. the side you are plugging those prongs in to the factory harness can use those. I do not think you have to use those...but ill try to explain and could do a diagram quick if you need it... Okay so i had 1 extra adapter piece with my kit, it was black, you attach that plug to the two prongs from the capacitor to the extra adapter piece. Than it will than end with two prongs in the picture above...which would just go in to the OM harness...does that make sense? So can just ignore those and go straight to OM harness, or add the extra black adapter to the capacitor prongs, plug it in to the black/yellow plug (top arrow in picture), and that than makes current to the 2 prongs in picture above, and than those plug in to OM harness.... confused yet?
  5. Vandeleigh, Those two prongs connect to the factory wiring harness for a stock bulb. It can be either the Left or Right side head light. I was confused too, the diagrams given list it as an adapter (diagrams two posts above yours), when really it didnt have an adapter, and the extra connector I had didnt fit in the factory harness to plug in. So pick which side headlight, put the positive and negative wire in to the light bulb harness, and for good measure just use some electrical tape and wrap them so they dont come unplug. When i figured it out finally in my 07 MKX though, the OM harness didnt say which side was "+" or "-", seeing when you put a light bulb in it, it can only plug in one direction. However it did have a small "A" and small "B" on each side, i used a volt meter, and side "A" was positive, and side "B" was negative in my car. If im correct, those wires just tell the relay that the lights were turned on, than send the current from the battery to the HIDs so that they turn on when your automatic lights to, or you manually turn the switch in the driver seat...does that make sense? I hope im not confusing you more... once i plugged those two prongs in to the driver side head lamps and tapped them, i moved the wire out of the way and than inserted my HID in to the socket and turned it till it was securely locked in the fixture and now drive around in daylight 24/7 :D your labeling is right for the capacitor/ground also. Oh and heres a quick remake of the diagram two posts above yours, note the green box, I tried to show the prongs instead of the labeled "adapter" that isn't there, plugging in the the factory light bulb harness. or if im no help RS will help you for sure, what HID kit did you get?
  6. for the passengers, were making a straight drive from MI to FL and than back two weeks later (24hrs each way). 5 of us taking turns driving and such so were trying to figure out a way to rig it. Actually have 10 of us going down for a cruise, Taking two MKX's but my 2007 doesnt have screens or nav system, just my parents mkx does, so we were looking if it was possible for the people riding in their car.
  7. Does anyone know how to "hack" the nav system? WIth aftermarket DVD players, you just route the ground wire differently and than you can watch DVDs or use more of the GPS functions because the system will constantly think its in (P) when it is or is not. Does anyone know how to get this same effect with a 2010 MKX with the sync nav. system? I've been looking all over for help...
  8. did anyone install HIDs as foglights beside the low beams? i think i want to also make my fogs HIDs and assume its the same setup as the low beams but just curious is anyone has done fogs/low beams
  9. When i got my harness from Todd, he had the capacitor wire already plugged in to the relay harness for me. I didn't need to buy the timing delay, but its a possible fix? try the 30A and see if its works first?
  10. I used the auto headlights and only had an issue with one of them randomly not going on, but after sanding down the paint to just metal where i put the grounds, it fixed it. I had asked Todd at RS and he said to sand around where the ground was (this fixed it) his other suggestions were to install a 30A fuse instead of the 20A fuse thats in the line. Or also buy the timing delay for the relay which would wait 10s before the lights would turn on possible fixing some issues. Did you wire it all correctly? checking it multiple time, or checking the (1) power connection in to the OEM harness?
  11. hi, did you installa your HID youself????

    Thanks

  12. bluetexan found two good spots for the ballasts. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/2045-digital-35watt-and-55watt-hid-member-pricing/page__hl__%2Binstalling+%2Bhids__st__60 I mounted the right one like he did behind the fluids. The left one i WANTED to install below like he did, but i couldn't get the wire to reach...not sure how he did. so for the left i installed it right beind the left light, and infront of the fuse box like Orion did on the same thread. However I can not access that left light anymore because my adaptive head lights sit back father and the ballast is now blocking access to the dust caps, unless i unscrew the ballast. oh well
  13. Thanks ab, that was the problem and i its fixed and working perfectly

  15. You only need one side plugged in, because the power going to the HIDs is coming from the battery line. The only reason you have that one line running in to the OEM harness is so that when you turn on your headlights, the car sends a current through the OEM harness, which will than run to the relay, and trigger the HIDs on. The "to power" wires don't have a harness, they are both a negative and positive and have specific tips on them. they are not just stripped wires, they each slide in to the OEM harness and than i just electrical tapped them in to it. I'll take a picture later and show you what the ends look like if you are still confused. The only thing with the OEM harness is figuring out which side is + or - because its a grey harness and both wires leading in to is are black. I used a volt meter to figure it out, and there should be a "A" and a "B" marked on both sides, "A" was positive and "B" was negative.
