  1. OK, thanks to you all, I've found the cabin air filter on my 2007 MKX , which my maintenance schedule says should be changed every 15k miles. However, th schedule also says to change the " climate controlled seat filter" every 30K miles-definitely different than the cabin air filter. Anyone know where this is?

Also, no where in the schedule does it call for a CHANGE of the fuel filter. Is this just an omission? Is it part of the fuel pump? Otherwise where is it? Thanks

I found the thread that covers all of my questions.

  3. My wife says there are no cup holders for rear seat passengers in her MKX. But, shortly after purchase, I put rear seat seat covers in to protect the seats from our dog. I suspect that there are cup holders in the section between seats that pulls down. Am I correct in that assumption?

P.S. I apologize in advance for the question, but the seat covers are a bit of a pain to remove and it's raining outside.

  4. Does the amp power all of the system or just the sub? Many sytems have a head that is a tuner only & has no power of its own. The amp would provide all of the power. Just a thought.

Thanks. They said they are going to replace the amplifier. They needed to order one. This is getting rather old. I've been there 4 times now without resolution. :finger:

  5. Same thing happened to me on mine, I have the THX/navigation unit. It will come on and go off, the radio will operate as normal, IE Sirius will display the song, and volume will increase in it's display. So I check the fuse for THX, #18 in the manual. It was OK.

Here is a way to access the trouble codes for it, While parked, hold in the #3 and #6 keys at the top of the radio. you enter a diagnostic page. Their is a speaker walk-around test (white noise). You will also see something like a DCP page, when you access that, their will be codes. Do NOT clear that page. Take it to your dealer.

Mine wrote down the codes and came back to me and said, (it) told him to replace the unit. It took about a week til they got a new one in. The sound would go on and off, One night I would just sit in the CUV and swore I could hear a fan running while I listened to the radio. I suspect it was a heat related failure, and the service manager told me, a lot of radio's have fan's in them.

Turns out that #3, and 6 trick works on my Escape Hybrid navigation unit also.

Thank you so, so much. Your answer is just the kind of thing I was looking for. I'll take it to the dealer tomorrow morning and let him access the system.

Just curious. How did you know to do this test?

  6. The sound quit on my Lincoln MKX radio. No crackling, no buzz, nothing. The radio otherwise seems to work. Checked the mute button and that's not the problem.

Is there a fuse that controls just the speaker system?

I have only 1000 miles on the car and didn't want to wait for the first oil change to get this fixed.

On the other hand, I hate to wait that long.

  7. P.S. If Ford wants to create a "Limited" edition Ford Edge in Green, feel free to add it in with cranberry leather seats. (Spilled sodas don't stain as easily in the cranberry color)

Now I know what they mean when they say, "There's an ass for every seat."

  8. Well, they certainly didn't care for the MKX. Not everyone wants a CUV to drive like a sports car. Not everyone wants the interior to look like the battle bridge of the starship Enterprise either. Seems to me that if you like an attractive, roomy, smooth riding luxury CUV with unmatched levels of equipment, the MKX is a pretty good choice. The only legitimate gripe is the brakes, and that is being taken care of with the tire changes being made. I drove an MKX for a weekend test drive and thought it was a pretty nice vehicle.

We have the Michelin Latitude HP's on our MKX. These tires were rated very well on tirerack. They are partly responsible for the handling and ride comfort. I don't know if they improve braking, but as I said, the braking on our MKX is just fine.

  9. I keep hearing that the brakes on the 2007 MKX are less than satisfactory, but my road experiences thus far tell me differently. I think they are fine.

We have about 900 miles on our MKX are are delighted with our selection. Sure, there are a few things left out, such as the passenger assist handle and back cover, but in so many other respects the car is great.

Ride comfort and handling are outstanding. So far gas mileage is as advertised.

I found the perfect pet cover for the back seats and bought a Weathertech cargo cover. Life is good.
