I placed my order for a 2012 Limited, red metallic, on Aug 5 and found out today a VIN has been assigned. Does anyone have any idea as to when this vehicle will be delivered?

Just ordered my 2012 Edge Limited, FWD with 302A Pkg. Dealer indicated delivery should occur in 8-12 wks. We plan on towing Edge behind our motorhome.

Changes for 2012 Edge:

1. Change in exterior colors.

2. 2.0 Ecoboost with inique rocker panels.

3. 10 way drivers & pass. seat on Lmt.

4.Foam baffles in fenders & D pillars to reduce noise.

Does anyone have any experience towing 4 wheels down with push button start? Is it doable?

Mclean41 Have you already had the Blue Ox installed and are experincing the same issues?

I have been waiting for this issue to be resolved before ordering our Edge. We may waint until early summer to make our purchase.

I started this adventure in early January and here it is now almost April and Blue Ox still does not have a correct fitting base plate for my 2011 EDGE. The dealer cut the most recent version apart and tacked it together to the correct fit and sent it to the Blue Ox factory for evaluation. My biggest disappointment is that the Blue Ox management is so detached from the issue. The customer service person I am dealing with says that my Edge is the only one that is having problems. I don't believe that for a second. I am a breath away from replacing my grill and installing a Roadmaster Baseplate.

I emailed Blue Ox three days ago regarding this problem and they have not replied up to this point.

Did you use a Blue Ox BX2628 Base Plate? I have had 2 base plates installed on my 2011 Edge SEL and they both have caused fender, hood, grill alignment issues. I would hold off on the purchase if I were you until Blue Ox gets their engineering straight!

I have not purchased the Edge at this time...I'll wait until these issues are resolved.

My Ford dealer says they have researched my concern and are adamant that I tow doing exactly what the manual says. They are OK with adding a Toad Charge but say pulling a fuse may require a trip to the shop to reset things that can't be reset by the owner. Their only comment about disconnecting the battery is that I may have to reset the clock and resync cell phones.

 

So, I'll do what they say but may add the Toad Charge for peace of mind.

I too will continue to research all options and keep all informed.

My Ford dealer says to add a trickle charger, something like the "Toad Charge. I'm still thinking about pulling the right fuse. I'm going to do a short tow to see if this power drain to the display causes mileage to run up. If it does, then I need to find the fuse. If not, then the Toad Charge should be fine.

I just purchased a new 2011 Edge limited AWD with the push button start and want to tow it with all 4 wheels down. Per the manual, this is OK, just put it in neutral and place the ignition in accessory position. However, the manual also says not to turn the vehicle off without shifting to park. Otherwise you may drain your battery.

 

Does anybody have experience with this?

I am also interested in the 2011 Edge Limited FWD, and plan to flat tow it behind our motorhome. The manual states that all you have to do is place the key in the accessory mode and shft into neutral. Please keep us advised as to issues you experience.

just e-mailed Blue Ox and they indicated the new baseplate is BX2628. This part number will be available for shipment February 18, 2011. Customer Care Representative, Michael Swan sent me an attached file with the new installation instructions. Hopefully this will resolve the problem for 2011 Edge owners.
