  1. There is a new tsb that came out today

    TSB 11-7-24

Some 2011 Edge, MKX and Explorer vehicles equipped with MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch built on or before 7/12/2011 may experience various concerns in the following areas: Blank/black display screen, radio switches from off to on or changes state after ending a phone call or voice command, phone pairing, incorrect Sirius channel selection using voice command, unable to download photo resolution 800x378, phonebook downloads, AM/FM missing preset display information, voice recognition, voice recognition when using SYNC services, USB device detection, travel link download time, Sirius channel art logo mismatch, Clock intermittently displays incorrect time, traffic direction and information (TDI) calling wrong phone number, travel link subscription, address book downloads, navigation set in kilometers but voice communicates in miles, and backup camera scrolling display

Is there more to this? Is there another release forthcoming? Thanks.

  2. Looks like the MFT/Sync is getting more press these days...

    From AutoBlog.com

Thanks for the link to this article. It does bring up something that I haven't seen on these boards (maybe it is somewhere else). Every once in a while my climate control blows cold air full blast when I first get in the car. The climate is usually set to Auto and temperature is 70-72 degrees. I live in upstate NY and there has been no need for A/C here all winter. It also feels like there is a draft coming in from the outside as well. Again, intermittent problem, but just another irritation with the car. Has anyone experienced this as well, and is it related to the MFT/Sync?

  3. Look at post # 381 (letter sent to the dealers)

Sorry, I meant a copy of the customer letter. The dealer letter says that the customer letters started going out in January?? I also have not received a letter. Also do not want to be the "beta" tester, although I am sick of yelling at my voice command lady all the time..

  4. I found out Monday that yet another TSB (11-3-15) was issued for MFT updates last Friday, 3/11. While I'm in absolute full favor of code fixes and updates, what I cannot friggin' believe is that this is another one that MUST BE INSTALLED BY THE DEALER!! Why in the world has Ford designed a process for owner's to update software themselves, but yet the majority of code updates to date have required dealer installs? Huh? Why?

I was waiting and checking syncmyride to see if this update became available for a self-install. Not yet. (Could be it doesn't or won't apply to my particular vehicle.) Does Ford think all owners have to do is drive back and forth to their dealer to get updates? Absolutely insane. No difference whatsoever than requiring an iPod be taken to an Apple store to get a version update. It's SOFTWARE, not a head gasket.

Anyone know if BMW, Audi, Saab, Acura, Infiniti, any other automobile manufacurer requires multiple visits to dealers for software updates? Has this become the norm? Geez, Consumer Reports was right (but maybe not for the correct reason). If it's too complicated, rip the damn crap outa the car and go back to knobs and switches. I'm quickly losing patience and respect for anything MFT.

Just called my dealer and they told me that I do not want this update! It apparently causes issues that make other features lock up. Said there will be another update next month and supposed to be some customer satisfaction program coming. Not sure what that means.. has anyone heard that?

  5. Do not click on Add a phone. Simply open the phone controls (top left of the 4 color corner options) once u open the phone options you should see connect phone. Click on Connect phone and you should be good to go. Once in a while I need to do this with my iPhone 4

Been there and done that. I cannot connect a phone when the only option is to Disconnect. The main menu says "Connect a Phone:, but when I go to the phone screen and select my phone, the "Connect" is grayed out. I tried disconnecting, then selecting Connect, but it gets hung up. I literally have to delete phone, turn off car, turn off, unpair sync on my phone, turn off bluetooth on phone, restart car, pray that it doesnt re-add my phone automatically, then add phone. Happens every two weeks or so. I have had this car since October, phone since beginning of January. This is what works for me and I am sticking with it, until Ford fixes it. I am not holding my breath.

  6. I was THIS CLOSE from crawling on my hands and knees to pull fuse 29 when to my surprise, the system rebooted on it's own.

I do think that ford still needs to work on the memory leaks in Touch. It seems like after a few weeks of use, it still gets Stupid.

Every two weeks or so my phone (Droid X) seems to lose its connection. It says "Connect A Phone", but when I go to the screen it shows it as connected. I try to disconnect, delete, etc. Its very frustrating to have to go through quite a number of steps to delete the phone (unpair the sync on my phone, turn off bluetooth on phone, turn off car, open door, etc... you get the picture!). The phone should not lose its connection every two weeks! Anyone else have this problem?

I had the APIM replaced about a month ago and I see absolutely no difference. Its clunky and unreliable. Funny, I have not had any system reboot since I got the new APIM. I am almost wishing for one. I refuse to go in the fuse box.

Another thing I found recently - my Droid X can receive text messages in my husband's recently purchased, used, 2010 Ford Fusion. But my state of the art, 2011 Ford Edge with my touch cannot. When I asked my dealer, they said the problem was my phone!

  7. Sync supports the feature - the iphone and other phones do not. There aren't many (if any) bluetooth devices out there that use that protocol to exchange contact photos so the cell phone companies have chosen not to implement them yet.

I wonder what phone Ford uses in their commercials to get the phonebook photos to appear??

  8. I have an iPhone4.

I've seen this name before when I selected the "Other Devices" button on Touch. I was never able to get it to work though. This time, I followed the normal procedure to pair and this is what showed up.

I turned off the bluetooth on my phone, deleted phone, then turned bluetooth back on and was able to add the device. The phone is now added and working. Wonder how long it will last this time around.

  9. UPDATE: I tried to pair to my phone during lunch today and Sync showed up on my BT list as "BCM4325D1 26 MHz" instead of "Sync"

    Odd. but it works!

I had the same thing on my phone last Friday, but it didnt sync! That is too strange. It works now, but give it a day or so.. I think that we are having the same exact issues.. what kind of phone? I have Droid X.

  10. On Jan. 5th, the dealer installed Sync update (2.4)

Feb. 6th, Sync quit connecting to my phone and refuses to reconnect. I un-paired the device in hopes of a re-pair fixing the problem. Now I can't get Sync to pair.

I did a master reset. That was no help.

I guess I'll resort to pulling a Fuse!

This is a Pain! I just might ask for a new module.

I had the latest software update installed on my Edge a week ago (third time since December I have had the car in for Sync issues). Last Friday my phone also would not connect (It said "Connect A Phone"), when I went to settings, the option to Connect was grayed out and Disconnect was available (you would think that would mean that the phone was connected!). I decided to "Disconnect" the phone that was not connected, then delete it and re-sync. HUGE MISTAKE. The screen got frozen on the Sync screen (with the 6 digit #). I could not get the damn thing to unfreeze. I had to drive 2 hours away for a meeting, and I had no radio, GPS, bluetooth phone, heated seats, etc for the whole drive. I tried "resetting" by turning off the car a few times along the way. That didnt work. It did decide to come back to life after my meeting and the car was off for a few hours. Since Friday I have had intermittent slowness with the touch screen, the voice commands are glitchy, and my phone wouldnt connect again this morning! I will not try to delete the phone again, that doesnt work.

I called my dealership and asked for a new module. I was told that they need to recreate my problems and investigate. I would like to get rid of the touch screen altogether at this point. The inconvenience of it isnt worth the hassle. I have spent numerous days trying to resolve some of the problems (searching the web, dowloading software updates, sitting in my freezing car while the updates run, etc).

Has anyone had the module replaced with success at getting rid of the constant issues???

    Thanks!

  11. I have had my 2011 Edge since October and have followed this forum because I have encountered most of the problems that all of you have had. I won't even bore you with the details! I am so frustrated with this car, and I think most of us who have had a previous Edge probably feel the same way. I LOVED my 2008 Edge! Anyway, my story is that I have had the update to my software, and was actually looking forward to problems with ambient lighting as long as it solved some of my issues, but nothing has been resolved. The touch screen is slow to respond, the navigation is awful, phone issues (I love when the dealer tells me that my phone is probably not compatible, when it worked without a problem in my 2008 Edge! ), and how is it possible that, while driving, it decides to do "scheduled system maintenance"? Has anyone been able to turn off the system maintenance, or actually create a schedule?? Also, this is not related to sync/my touch, but has anyone noticed the temperature in the car does not seem to be consistent? I find this especially when I have the seat warmer on. Not sure if it is in my head or something is not working.

So I now have the Gen 2 update, and saw that there may be something extra that I can update from the sync website. Do I dare install this update?

I am in software support, and we always provide release notes to customers to let them know what is in the software update. Does anyone know what is in this update?

One last thing. I have dealt exclusively with the dealership on these issues. I was wondering if there is an email/phone # to contact Ford directly? I feel as though my complaints are falling on deaf ears at the dealership and I want to make sure that all of my problems are being logged.

    Thanks!
