  1. Hey Andrew...Happy Holidays. I (like yourself) sold my (mildly modified) 2005 Pontiac GTO-6.0 for an 08 MKX in Septermber. I thought I would miss it, but I honestly don't! Hmmm am I noticing a trend here? I am glad to know that I'm not the only one who swapped high performance for luxury and all season driving. I have to agree with your room for engine improvement comment. The Ford 3.5 is tuned for lower emissions; however, I am quite pleased with my MKX. It gets out of its own way (265 vs 400+ HP??? I'm still adjusting...lol), uses regular fuel, delivers decent fuel economy and that is more than I can ask for in this type of vehicle. It is a weird thing...the more I drive my "X", the more I love it. Hopefully you will too. Enjoy.

I went from an '06 Corvette Coupe to my '11 Sport AWD. The vette was intoxicating on the freeway, but LIVED in the dealer service department. I believe I love my Edge far more than the Vette.

Well, as Maxwell Smart says "Missed it by that much!" Deal was all done. Dealer drove me to the dealership for the pick-up, then they threw-in a $200 doc fee that was outside the fixed price + TTL. Sales manager refused to honor the deal, so I said no dice and asked for a ride home. They refused and I had to walk most of the way home before my wife picked me up.

Got the conglomerate president's e-mail address (18 franchies in 13 dealerships) sent an e-mail and within 1 hour got a call from the dealership general manager. We're working on a deal now, but they won't be making any money.

Sorry there is no way in hell I would buy from that particular dealer after that. If they act like that on the sale then I'd be afraid to find out what the service department experience would be... and you will surely be dealing with them for MFT updates.

  4. Trying to be fair and including the disclaimer that not all people are having problems, also that problems are intermittent, here is my story:

Bought the car in October of 2010 with version 1.8 of MFT.

I have had it upgraded to 3 newer versions, and have had 2.11 for a couple of months. I have also had the module replaced, but still problems.

Regularly takes at least a minute and a half after I start the car for Sync to work. Several times 3 minutes.

Phone will show as connected. Incoming call rings on the phone but not on MFT. I fish the phone out of my pocket and answer the call and I can then speak through the car bluetooth.

Navigation map is black. the icons appear around the edges, but no map

While driving, the main screen has gone black for a minute, then I get the famed "System Maintenance" reboot.

When I start the car, the radio is on a different station than when I turned it off.

Some of my presets are blank on the screen, although they still exist, and when I touch the blank spot it goes to that station.

When I start the car I get a navigation card error message.

I press the steering wheel button to hang up phone and it goes into privacy mode.

My efforts have included taking photos and videos of the problems, keeping all documentation, and escalating the matter.

Ford has issued a few Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) 2 in July alone, so they know they have a problem. I also recently got an email from my dealer that they got from Ford, subject "EFC00864DC MyFord and MyLincoln Touch October Update"

So I have had problems from day 1, others have had problems to some extent or another, Ford knows of the problems and has been working to address the problems (to what extent owners think they have been successful in their efforts is your opinion) with my summary view that they released MFT too early, and they have created a lot of ill will with owners, not just with Edge but other Fords with MFT.

This is EXACTLY my story as well... except I purchased mine in November 2010 with 1.8, but EVERYTHING else is identical to my experience. Still, having said all of that, I LOVE my Sport, and I am glad I made the purchase. I will be happy once those bugs are fixed, but those bugs do not overshadow the rest of the enjoyment the vehicle provides. It did take a bit of the fun out of the new car experience, but when you purchase bleeding edge technology... well that's what one must put up with.

  5. I had my upgraded from version 2.8 to version 2.11 on tuesday. I went into syncmyride before i went to the dealer

and it said 2.11 it had previously said 2.8. If the tech does it properly yours should show the same.

That's exactly what I thought. They tried to tell me today that it takes a week sometimes for the syncmyride website to update, but when I got 2.4 installed I could see the update as they tried... instantly. I think they're blowing smoke up my arse. He did end the conversation with "I will be sure they confirm they installed 2.11". Fingers crossed.

  6. Anyone have a dealership in the Silver Spring, MD area that they've had good luck with their service department? My service tech just told me on the phone that they updated the 10B20 recall without any problems and are done (should be to v. 2.11) but when I went onto syncmyride.com it still says 2.4 installed on 4/6/11. This is at Koons in Silver Spring.

  7. I have an '11 Sport AWD. I do mostly in town driving, but have had it on the highway for a few small couple-hour road trips. I always reset the A mileage thing when I refill/top off my tank, and the B mileage I reset when I purchased the car and have not reset it since. I have 4106 miles on the vehicle since November 15 when I bought it. In that time, the avg MPG listed on my B setting is 13.3 mpg. I have currently have 12 on my A odometer with 189 miles since fill up. I definitely don't baby the thing anymore, but I don't drive it really hard most of the time either. 13.3 is not that good, but heck if I was worried about gas mileage, or had to commute to work, I wouldn't have bought an AWD crossover. I still love my Edge.

  8. Well, everything had been going great with my 2011 Edge Sport until this weekend. I turned the car on after running into the store and my screen went blank. No audio, no navigation, no back up camera - similar to what many have posted here. MFT version was the latest at 2.4. Took it into the dealer today and they confirmed it needs a new APIM. Hope to have it back tomorrow and we'll see how it goes from there.

This forum has been extremely helpful in understanding the issues (and many of the challenges). Thanks to everyone for posting and sharing your experiences.

I still think the Edge is a great vehicle and hope that this minor setback is just that....minor!

    Thanks,

I am happy to report that it has been about 2 months now since my APIM replacement and so far everything has worked as it should. I am still extremely happy with my purchase. :shades:

  9. wow! on sale for 9.99 now!

The bench version is on sale too. I wonder if it fits the back seat.

Hi guys! I wanted to put seat covers on as well, but then I noticed that they would be covering the airbag module that is mounted in the side of the seat! Do these account for that?

  10. The remote start is a 3 step process. Lock door button then remote start button twice within 5 seconds. Guess so you don't start it by mistake. As far as the navigation I'm happy with it. In settings you can change the day and night view if you wish. at least that is what I remember anyway

In regards to the remote start, at least in my neighborhood, you want to make sure your doors are LOCKED before the car starts up with nobody around.... may not be there when you get out to it.

In regards to the navigation system, you can cycle through a few views by pressing the red directional. Also, while you have a destination programmed/active, you can depress the small "VIEW" icon at the top right and that will cycle through a few more layout changes as well. I use the one with the upcoming turns listed on the right side. I happen to think that the nav is beautiful. At least in comparison to the Garmin and TomTom units that I have used in my other cars. Particularly if you are somewhere that can use the 3D buildings features (like in Washington, DC). While I'm talking about DC, which I have found in the past to be akin to the Bermuda Triangle as far as not getting lost, even with a GPS. I had a trip into NW DC last week from Silver Spring, MD. There was a major accident on route 50 and I (with fingers crossed) changed the nav to reroute automatically around traffic. For the very first time in my life I did not get lost going through DC. Even the round abouts were clearly marked on the map and the nav lady was very accurate in her directions... "enter the traffic circle. take the 23rd exit and clinch your butt cheeks because nobody else can drive around here either." Ok, well not quite, but she was very precise and didn't get me lost. ::cheers:: to the nav lady.

  11. I'm upgraded to 2.4 and have had no issues whatsoever once the upgrade was complete. I always loved it, but now I have the vehicle I thought I was getting in the first place, and love it all that much more. I'm extremely happy with my purchase (2011 Sport fully loaded).

In fact, I find myself proclaiming loudly at least once a week how much I f***ing love my Sport! ::gently caresses dash ::
