  1. My 2011 Ford Edge has been great since day one. However last month, I had my backup guidelines suddenly disappear. I came online and read many things from people with not only Edges but also F150's who had the same problem. I did go into the settings screen as someone suggested and it shows that they are on and you can even see them pictured there on the screen but when I put the car into reverse, they don't show up. Took the car into the dealer last month to have an alignment done and while it was there, I had them check it out. They reconfigured the camera, I believe, and I had my back up lines once again. I was thrilled. That lasted a month and the other day, I came out of work on a rainy day, put the car in reverse and my lines were suddenly gone again! What's up with that? Car isn't under warranty anymore and it was costly just to have the dealer reconfigure the camera. I love the lines but don't want to pay that out to keep getting the lines back. Wish there was something I could do on my end. Anyone have any thoughts? Maybe I'll just have to continue on without the lines. Other than that, the camera works fine.
  2. Thanks, Cellbine. How do you go into the Bluetooth settings? Is it the same thing as deleting the phone off of the MFT screen (I've done that although it's still there).
  3. I think I'll be taking it into the dealer and see if they can get it paired. I tried my daughter's iPhone to see if that would pair and it did the same thing - the phone does not see the car so maybe the car isn't "discoverable".
  4. Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. I have an Iphone 4s and have never had any trouble pairing it with my 2011 Ford Edge Limited. The two have have worked great together. Then the other day, suddenly, it didn't pair when I got in the car to go out. I didn't think much of it because the very few times this has happened in the past (I had an iphone 3G before this 4S), I was always able to re-pair it. This time, no luck. I have tried having the iphone "forget this device" and also tried deleting the phone on my car screen. I've also rebooted my phone several times. I can bring up the 6 digit pin on my car screen but when I try to pair the phone to Sync, the phone won't display the entry field that I need to enter the pin. The phone just keeps searching with the little icon spinning around (it says "now discoverable" under that). I was also looking online and found a reverse pairing technique that I tried: I chose a pin number on my screen, then my phone immediately came up with a box for me to enter that same pin number...the car screen recognized the phone and asked me if I wanted to keep the settings the same as before but then when it was trying to connect, it couldn't. Eventually it comes back and says the phone is not available. Any ideas before I make an appointment with the dealer lol? Thanks
  5. I've been lucky with mine, too. I have the 2011 Edge Limited and I can't express how much I love this car The MFT has worked great for me - no problems. My iPhone works very well with it, too - always connects, never drops the pairing, etc. I love the hands-free system and can't imagine not having it now. The voice control works excellent as well (even a year ago when I had one of the worst cases of laryngitis that I have ever had - how it could understand me I'll never know but it did lol!). If I want to play music from my iPhone, that works great, too. The things that are the most important to me like reliable phone pairing, voice control/hands-free system, back-up camera - those all work well for me so I'm happy. Navigation is also great but that's not something I use too often because I don't travel much. I've had my car one year already and I love it as much as I did when I brought it home from the dealer. Besides the technology, it drives like a dream and it is so quiet! I also love the way it looks (I have the black on black). Oh and speaking of the voice commands, it's fun to tell the car you're hungry lol. I finally tried that command the other day and it was hilarious to see it answer me with the suggestions of food places in the area! Anyway, good luck with your car shopping
  6. I noticed not long ago that at one time I used to hear the tone of a text message come through MFT but I don't hear that now. Doesn't really matter to me, though. Glad to hear others are pleased with how their new iPhones are working. This will give me the courage to finally upgrade my iPhone
  7. Hi and thanks for your response. No, my contact photos have never worked. At first I was disappointed at that because I'd love to have the pictures work but it doesn't bother me that much now. Maybe someday they will get them working. I don't know what operation system I have on the phone but it's the original lol. I was going to update the phone's OS to the new version but it said it takes hours so I will have to set time aside to do that. Since the phone works so well with the car, I haven't been too anxious to change anything.
  8. Hi everyone, I currently have an iPhone 3G (yeah, one of the originals, I think lol) but it works beautifully with my 2011 Edge Limited. I would like to upgrade to the new iPhone 4S but I'm hesitant because I hate to mess with a good thing! For anyone who has the new iPhone 4S, have you had any problems with it working with your Edge? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks and Happy New Year to everyone
  9. Thanks to everyone for their replies. Yes, I know about the vacuum and you are correct. I am always very careful to not keep my foot pressed down when I turn the car off. I take my foot off right away. I have even sat there with the car running (after taking my foot off the brake) for a minute or two, just in case, before shutting it off. I'm stumped about what could be causing this to happen occasionally. Anyway, it's good to hear that I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Thanks again, everyone
  10. Hi everyone, I really like this forum and want to thank everyone for all the very informative and helpful posts on here. I love my 2011 Ford Edge; what a beautiful car with so many great features! I have had mine for 5 months and am still learning about it every day. I do have a question regarding starting the vehicle. Sometimes when I start the car, the brake pedal is hard to press. It goes down enough for the car to start but I am wondering if anyone has had this happen with their car and what the reason might be. Other times it is fine and I can press it down easily. Thanks in advance for any help
  11. Hi everyone. I have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited. I am completely in love with this car! Everything is working well. I have had only one "change" that I can't explain. I now have to do the remote start sequence TWICE to start it. I have only had the car since November and I used to be able to hit "lock" and then the 2x button twice and the car would start. Now I must do that sequence two times. I have to press "lock" and then the 2x button twice, then "lock" and the 2x button twice. Anyone have any thoughts? I do have two remotes but haven't tried the other one yet to see if that does the same thing - but I will. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this.
  12. Hello to everyone. I am a new owner of a gorgeous black 2011 Ford Edge Limited (loaded with almost everything) and I am totally in love with it! I have had it for about 2 weeks now and I am just thrilled with it and all of its features. My only questions so far involve the climate settings when using the remote start and so I was glad to see this thread on here. I am hoping that someone can clear this up for me. First of all, what is the advantage of using the auto settings? I haven’t tried using “auto” yet. I just figured that at night when I shut it off, I would set the car to whatever I wanted it to be on in the morning when I would use the remote start (just as I have done with previous cars). I am wondering why bother with “auto” at all? I'm confused over what the advantage is of doing it one way or the other. Anyway, my specific question is regarding defrosting the front windshield. What do I need to have selected so that this works when I use the remote start? It is getting cold here now and the last few mornings there has been some frost on the windshield. When I started the car with the remote, the front windshield did not defrost until I went out, had gotten in the car (car had now shut off), restarted it and hit “rear defroster”. At that point, the front windshield defrosted beautifully and quickly. Before shutting the car off the night before, I had pressed the “defroster” button but do I need to have one of the four options of air flow also selected? Do I need to press the “face/feet” button to get that front window to defrost? I also think it’s interesting that the second I hit “rear defroster” everything worked. Do I need to have the rear one on for the front one to defrost? Thanks in advance, everyone
