  1. its my thready and I'll cry if I want to... Come on, any pictures of sport's with colored wheels or suggestions? This is a legitimate thread with a problem to plague many 2011 and 2012 sport owners.
  2. if I cannot get a shop that is willing to repair the wheel (so far the ones I've called have said they cannot make the wheel look new due to complicated paint??), I can get it repaired and powder coated, then if I ever damage it again, it is fixable and will match. I didn't imply that powder coat will protect me from damage. What do you guys think? The cost of one brand new wheel is higher than repair/power coat of all 4. Or I can mail the wheel to a reputable shop that has repaired 22" sport wheels if anyone has a recommendation.
  3. I am seriously considering just having all 4 powder coated because I will damage them again in the future. Any pictures of Sport 2011's with different color wheels?
  4. Oh and will Ford replace the wheel if it was damaged due to me being distracted with My Ford Touch issues?? lol I love the lag and random crashes/restarts on MFT
  5. I have a nice gouge in my front wheel and to repair it locally will not guarantee similar finish. Are these rims really chrome? The phone conversation with a wheel shop (without actually seeing the wheel) led to them assuming a very difficult feat to do the black/"chrome or polish" refinish after repair. So my questions: Can anyone who has had their wheels repaired or knowledge of the process used to finish comment on repair? If I were to repair this one, has anyone changed the color/finish of their wheels to something cheaper/more manageable? I dont want to spend 500-1k to replace or repair this wheel, when I know for sure there will be a chance I damage them again in the future. Ill post pics if I get the heart to take some pictures.
  6. Wow galvanized steel and paint...I really have some crappy luck. Obviously that is not a structural issue...do you think I have good reason to fear that more critical components are suspected to corrode as time goes on? I am going to have to take a half day from work and show this mess to the dealer's body shop. Sigh... I will try and update you guys with any new info.
  7. Maybe someone here works in quality engineering? Any opinions?
  8. Ok sorry for getting defensive. I was just a little annoyed because it is my first new car purchase, and also my first domestic. I have been so busy with work I havent really gotten time to sit down and poke at the deposits. The weather has been really bad so my car is covered in dirt. I should have some time to wash it this weekend. If you can ignore the dirt, I have a few pictures: Front driver side: Front passenger side: Note, looked at rear driver/passenger doors, no "rust or rail dust" found. This obviously floating down from somewhere else. Rust doesnt do that this early. So it must be rail dust. I had just assumed the robotic painter had taken a crap when it was finishing this car's door, but that is highly unlikely. The rust is not structural, and I really hope Ford doesnt have low quality finish procedures. The dealer's body shop had said they are interested in taking the door panels apart to track where this crud is coming from. I dont really want someone to take a new car apart like that. Those panels never go back on without starting to creak or rattle. Car just hit 1k miles. Garage kept when not at work. Please let me know your opinions. I will follow up with dealer when I get some time.
  9. Wait, so rust is ok? Is this common with domestic vehicles? I have never had to deal with rust, especially on a brand new car. How does the dealer deal with this problem? I am thinking if they find real rust, that they must replace the doors entirely or swap me for another vehicle...
  10. Car color is black. The color of the deposit is brownish red.
  11. I am planning on taking my Edge in to the dealer to have a look at tiny rust spots noticed at the bottom of the front driver and passenger doors. The manager was not in, but one of the other body shop service reps said they will have to take the door panels off to search for the rust. I dont really want them to start taking a new car apart... What are my options? I guess I will have to let them do their damage...Will post pictures if I get time.
  12. I simply wiped finger prints using the supplied cloth for the touch screen and I could see tiny scratches on the black Sony bezel Nav screen is ok for now, ordered the nushield. Going to order rear bumper guard, I dont want to get a bra (if one exists) for the front, any popular solutions?
  13. How about protection for the ever so scratch-able bezel? It is the black shiny plastic around the nav screen and, transmission, climate and etc controls. Thanks
  14. Just picked up my black 2011 edge sport. The interior console scratches if I stare at it. I have a few minor scratches that may have occurred when it sat on the show room floor or when the dealer was detailing it. Is there a protective screen I can get (similar to cell phones) for the navigation and the center console bezel? I will be posting in the exterior forum for best options for clear bra. I did a search, did not find anything. I am surprised this has not been discussed yet. If the topic exists, I apologize.
