  1. Well I cleaned up our Edged today following the how to on detail image. I now have 3 wash buckets. One for the car wash, one is the rinse bucket, and one for the wheels and tires. Got all of the snow and salt off that had been on it. It turned out great. Still need to polish it and put a sealant on it. I did use my spray detail when wiping it down. Here are the picks of it all cleaned up. They are also in my gallery. Thanks to Canuck for all the tips so far.

  2. Welcome. The Edge is a great and my wife loves hers. I get to drive ours sometimes. I really wanted a sunroof in ours but not for the extra money we would had to pay. It gets hot here in TN so It is a good thing I guess. We have about 600 miles on ours so far. Bought ours on 31 Dec 2010.

  3. If your Edge is only a month old it is under Warranty. The warranty is there and the dealer should make it right. Ford reimburses them for any repairs or replacements to the Edge. I went through this with our HHR we ad. Never will I buy another GM product again unless it is from the 50's.

Your rim looks like it has a rock chip in it. Once chrome rims get rock chips and they are clear coated it will continue to get worse. The 22 inch rims are nice but it is a bigger area to get damaged. As for the wheel locks the dealer needs to just put them on and be done with it. I mean that is something simple to keep a customer happy.

  4. Thanks Richy. I will read up on it. I use to read on all the care products and over the years have gotten away from it. I do detail my motorcycle a little more than my truck. Bike does not take as long. Since I live in TN we do not get a lot of snow but when we do they coat the roads with brine and tons of salt. So I really want to put a good protection on the edge.

  5. Can you use Megs GC on your Edge? Absolutely. It's not a bad OTC carnuba wax at all. The downside to the GC, and just like any other carnuba wax, is it's durability. You'll only get about 4-6 weeks protection out of it, and after that it will need to be reapplied. For people that don't mind applying paint protection every month, using a carnuba is no problem. For those that don't want to or don't have the time to apply paint protection every month, a synthetic polymer sealant is a great choice. You'll get approximately 4-6 months durability out of a good quality sealant. And if you want, you can apply your Megs GC over the sealant for a little bit more depth and gloss.

Regarding bringing back the luster and shine on your F-150, you'll really need to polish it by machine. Using an abrasive polish along with a random orbital polisher will remove a very thin layer of the clearcoat, thus removing any paint imperfections, oxidation, etc. Either you can take it to a local detailer or you can purchase the necessary tools and do it yourself. If you are potentially interested in doing it yourself I can help you get started with the right tools and products. :)

I believe in doing things myself. that way when it gets screwed up I have no one to blame but myself. I would love to get the right tools for the job. Having been a C130 Crew Chief and worked on all my cars, trucks, and motorcycles I know the importance of having the right tools to do the job. I did save the link you gave in an earlier post. I do know if you are not careful you can burn through the paint when using any hi speed polisher. Thanks for the help.
