  1. My 2018 Edge SEL has rain sensing wipers. 3 times over the past couple months while driving with the wipers in auto rain sensing mode, the wipers started and adjusted speed with the rain as they should but then stopped altogether. The wipers would not work in any setting-auto, low or high speed. I stopped the car turned the engine off and restarted and the wipers worked properly again. Have there been any recalls on this issue since if I am not able to quickly stop to restart the car, this could be a serious safety problem.

  2. I bought the Wayfinder V2020 and an extra temperature sensor for inside the car. I mounted the exterior sensor to the inside of the front air dam, and the interior sensor under the passenger seat.

I'm not sure I'd fully recommend it. The display is very difficult to read in low light. The backlight is completely useless, and unless you have the display plugged in to 12 volts, only stays on for a few seconds after pressing the button. I did not want another wire running around the dash, so I just used the internal battery.

If the compass does not sense that you are moving and changing direction, it turns itself off. It's not very smart, and the thing turns itself off about 80% of the time.

The temperature display seems accurate, and I've only had to replace the battery in one temperature sensor in the last year.

The display unit is much thicker than the pictures show (there's a big bump on the back for the battery), and it's difficult to mount cleanly.

    Rick

I agree it has a lot of problems. I wanted an outside temperature sensor and found the Wayfarer on Ebay and obtained it for $11. It does provide the temperature and direction but is not what I really want. I would like to have a smaller wireless temperature display that can be viewed at night and easily attached somewhere unobtrusively to the dash or console. Unfortunately, the temperature readout in the rear view mirror are not available for vehicles with sync since the mirror has the mic for the sync.

  3. I have an 07 SEL+ with the temp and compass. I thought those are standard on the SEL+. If I had a SE

I would look at the Ford dealer installed mirror with compass. Might be a little pricey.

I have the SE with the SYNC option thus the mirror contains the mic. Ford Accessories does not have a mirror that includes temp with sync. Without the sync the mirrors costs almost $400.

I did install theWayfinder compass/temp and it does work.

Some problems are that it is a LCD display and is hard to see at night. It does have a light but is very dim. Also, since it is a separate unit not integrated into the dashboard it must be attached to the windshield or laid on the console; therefore requiring me to place it in the console when I left the Edge. I do not want a thief could mistaking my $11 unit for a GPS.

If anyone else has an exterior temp gauge, let me know how it works for you.

  4. At cold idle I'm around 800-1000 RPM's-----When the Edge is warm whether my foot is on the brake in Drive or idling, I'm at 600 RPM's. Oval

    Thanks for checking.

Mine is also around 600 rpm in drive. Since I have the rollback problem, I will assume that the fix is not affecting the MPG at least as far as the idle speed is concerned.

  5. Please explain what "hot' idle is. Do you mean after the car has warmed up and the idle has kicked down? I will check on this and report back.

Yes, that is correct. Let's compare the idle (car stopped with foot on brake in order to mimic the stopped and rolling back condition that the TSB corrects) RPMs in drive at normal operating temperature verses the cold idle which is typically higher when you start up in the morning.

If the RPMs are the same then the TSB must change some other transmission setting to prevent rollback. These settings and how they operate are wwwwwwway beyond my knowledge of the transmission.

I would just like to know if my MPG will change if I ask for the TSB to be applied to my one week old Edge since it also has the rollback condition.

  6. Well answered akirby. They did not swap out the torque converter, only did a reflash on the tranny.

Blue, PrinzII and anyone else who had the TSB applied to prevent rollback.

Has your hot idle rpm changed? If it has not, then I would assume MPG may not change but I am far from understanding what is actually changed when the TSB is applied.

  7. Not exactly sure about the technical details, but I do remember a Ford engineer stating that they tried to change it to help with the rollback problem but were denied based on fuel economy impacts. I'm sure it's only a few tenths of a MPG but those things add up.

    Akirby,

do you know if the TSB.08-05-12 has a downside of decreasing the MPG since the fix to the rollback problem was previously denied based on fuel economy impacts

  8. Hi Rockfish. :D Well, here is what I can tell you:

That Edge has an MSRP of $27,140.

    The "Invoice Price" is $26,051.

There are currently two Incentives on that vehicle. $1,500 Retail Customer Cash and $400 Bonus Customer Cash. These Incentives are currently set to expire on 3/31/08.

Invoice minus those Incentives (if you can qualify for both) would be $24,151. You should use this as your baseline price for negotiations.

Here is my opinion. If you can get within several hundred dollars of that $24,151 figure (Invoice Price minus Incentives), you would have achieved an "Excellent" price.

So if you can get your pricing before TT&L down to $24,300-$24,400 or so, you can assume you have a good deal. Of course, the closer to $24,151 (or lower if you can get it :shades: ) the better.

Also, when I say $24,300-$24,400 I mean including all Fees and Charges except TT&L. Do not let them give you a "lowball price", then discover that they tack on $500-$1,000 in extra Fees to the "lowball price". This is a favorite tactic of many/most Dealers.

I pulled the trigger today on the above new 2008 Edge SE. The final price was $24,213.21 plus TTL which is $62.21 over the Ford invoice price you supplied of $24,151 and is in the excellent range. The price includes the $1,900 in rebates. They actually listed the price as $24,114.21 and $99 dealer processing fee. I really don't care how they divide the charges since I negotiate the OTD price. That is why the final price is an odd number.

Thanks again for your help in obtaining the true invoice price since that helped prevent me from running back and forth to different dealers to try to bargin for a piece of the $271 difference between the Edmunds invoice price and the actual Ford invoice price. With the true invoice price it was an easy back and forth negotiation with the Sales Manager.

I also had a trade in for which the dealer gave me 4 times the price that carmax offered.

All in all, I am very happy with the trade in deal, the excellent price of $62.21 over Ford invoice and my new Edge.

Now I will need to figure out the Sync system.

  9. Hi Rockfish. :D Yes. This has caused confusion many times in the past.

The "Edmunds Invoice Price" is an estimate. It does not include certain charges which can vary from vehicle to vehicle, and Edmunds does not have access to. If you read into the fine print on the Edmunds site, this is explained.

Here is the first paragraph of that explanation, copied and pasted from Edmunds (the full explanation is much longer):

"The invoice price does not include any fees that may be charged by the manufacturer to dealers in a particular area of the country, such as local advertising fees, dealer association fees, or docking and storage fees. Edmunds.com does not track or provide such local fees."

The Invoice Price I quoted is the exact Invoice Price from Ford. It is correct to the penny.

    Hope this information helps.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

    bbf2530,

does your information to the exact invoice price show any detail? Specifically, is the different between Edmund's invoice price and Ford's invoice price a fee or are the individual line items showing a difference.

    Thanks for your help.

  10. Thanks for the info but do you know why there is a $271 different between the invoice price in your reply which was $26,051 and the invoice price on Edmunds which is $25,780. I listed the Edmund results below.

    Price Information------------------------MSRP---------------Edmund's Invoice

    STANDARD VEHICLE PRICE------------$25,330.00--------$24,135.00

    CONVENIENCE GROUP------------------$355.00------------$302.00

    REAR CARGO MANAGEMENT SYSTEM-$65.00--------------$55.00

    SYNC VOICE ACTIVATED SYSTEM----$395.00-------------$336.00

    ROOF RAILS-BLACK--------------------$95.00---------------$81.00

SIRIUS SAT RADIO W/6 MOS SVC----$195.00-------------$166.00

    TOTAL VEHICLE & OPTIONS------------$26,435.00---------$25,075.00

    DESTINATION & DELIVERY-------------$705.00-------------$705.00

    TOTAL MSRP-----------------------------$27,140.00----------$25,780.00

  11. Service manager talked to Ford rep, they are aware of this problem. Service manager said it will take 1 month until he is able to order the new chrome rims for me...because Ford wants to purge out the old ones. No reason why this problem is occurring yet!?!?! Just happy to be getting new rims. Owners of this problem....please note!...your Edge must be within warranty to qualify for this....which is 1 year or 12,000miles. Good luck to all.

Is the wheel warranty different than the B2B which is 3yr 36,000?

  12. On your cargo carrier mat picture, I noticed an edge is on the side of the mat that is next to the back of the second row seats. If you have the second row seats down flat how does this lip line up with the second row seats. In other words does it get in the way if you have a large box or other large stuff being loaded in from the rear?

  13. I am planning to start negotiating for an 2008 Edge

    VIN 2FMDK38C48BA56802

Would someone with access to X plan pricing please look it up and let me know the pricing. This way I will know if I am recieving a good price from the dealer without having to request and use up a pin number from the Blue Oval forum.

The dealer is in zipcode 21043 and I see rebates of $1500 and $400 listed on the Ford website.

    Thanks

  14. Those are the ford part numbers, correct?

    Paul

Paul, I copied the part numbers from a discussion on this forum when I was following the brake discussions

Go there and read what the original poster wrote. The topic

Replacement Rotors and Pads, A cure to the dust and poor braking?

was on page 6 of the Accessories and Modifications discussion with a last post of 8/14/07 in the

Ford Edge Forum > FORD EDGE & LINCOLN MKX MODIFICATIONS | TECHNICAL FORUM > Accessories and Modifications

Sorry, I have not figured out how to create a link to the topic

  15. Porterfield doesn't make a brake pad for the Edge. I wish.

I'll email a few companies and see what I can find. I read somewhere that KVR had pads, but searching for the part numbers turned up nothing.

    Paul

Paul, I copied this information from another forum member, I do not remember which one, when I was asking about braking improvement. I did not contact KVR so I can not verify the info.

For those who want to order from KVR Performance you'll need to give them the Ford Part Numbers to match up to their current parts, at least until they actually assign part numbers to the EDGE rotors and pads. So the Ford numbers are:

    Front Rotors - 7T4Z1125A

    Rear Rotors - 7T4Z2C026A

    Front Pads - 7T4Z2001A

    Rear Pads - 7T4Z2200A

Just quote those to the people at KVR and ask for the J-Hook, Slotted or Cross-Drilled Rotors and Carbon-Metallic Pads to suit the EDGE and you're off and running! I'm not sure if they have the 2-piece rotors available but you can ask. I ordered the J-Hook rotors cad plated and the carbon pads.

I still have not purchase the Edge but wanted to keep this info if and when I pull the trigger on the Edge. If you upgrade your brakes, please let us know what you did and the effect on stopping. Thanks

  16. My Brand New edge feels like it is missing or a misfire. Less than 1,000 miles on it. At first I thought it may be a Tire Balance condition but now I think it is an engine issue, however I don't have any trouble or warning lights on.

Maybe it's just me. Anyone else noticed this type of condition?

    SRE

Check out the TSB's on this forum. One that may apply is

    06-18-15

    IGNITION DIAGNOSTICS

Some 2006-2007 vehicles with a customer concern of a misfire, with or without diagnostic trouble code (P030X), access the spark duration PID's in IDS, in the Tool Box under Powertrain/Ignition Tools or in Datalogger when using IDS, WDS, PDS, or PID database in NGS Plus, to diagnose the concern.

  17. Perhaps this is the reason:

    U.S. - 3.785 litres per US gallon

Canada - (Imperial Gallons) 4.54 litres per Imperial gallon

Using the above ratio gives a 20% larger imperial gallon over the US gallon (4.54 / 3.785).

Increasing the US MPG by 20% only goes from 16 to 19.2 mpg. Still short of the 21 mpg on the Canadian window sticker.

Could the testing formula be different? It did change in the US for MPG figures for 2008 MY.
