  1. Could be several itemp based on your description. Start by isolating: while slowing down (and making sound), take the car out of drive. This will eliminate sounds coming from the engine (power steering pump, and belt would be suspicious). If it continues, brakes, rotors, pads, transmission and ptu.

There is no noise when the transmission is not engaged. There is also no noise when the transmission is engaged but the brake is applied. The noise only appears when the gas pedal is applied and is worse when more gas is applied.

  2. Hi,

My wife's 2011 Ford Edge has started to make a sound when applying the gas pedal while driving. Initially I thought it was an exhaust issue however the sound does not exist if the car is not in gear (ie revving does not produce this sound). The sound only happens when in gear and is much more noticeable when starting for a stop. My wife describes this as the 'race car' sound as it is very noticeable in the car.

This does not seem like an engine issue. Could it be transmission, PTU, torque convertor or something else?

    Any help is appreciated.

    TIA.

Ninja'd by Shaay. The ability to remote from your phone requires a cellular modem in the vehicle. There are aftermarkets systems that do just that, add a modem and patch into the vehicle. Not sure about our Fords tho.

I looked into engineering one myself. It'd be a simple remote start from long distances, but decided the benefits wasn't worth the retro engineering that I'd have to do.

This Sync3 Connect feature (if it works reliably and is intuitive) sounds like a nice addition. Other manufactures have had this function for years.

    Ford SmartLink is coming:

  4. I have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited (3.5L AWD) that is dripping a yellow (perhaps lime green?) liquid down the center of the car. The drips appear to be originating around the middle of the vehicle. Any ideas or suggestions regarding what this could be? The colour is similar to the windshield washer fluid but I don't understand how it could be leaking mid vehicle unless the hose for the rear wiper sprayer runs down the middle of the car underneath.

I've attached a picture for reference. The drips really show up in the snow.

    TIA.

  5. after 40 minutes of "updating system" i pulled the plug. i saw estimates upthread of 15-20 minutes so I thought at 40, something must not be working.

a few other oddities, when i pull out the USB drive, the message "device detected" appears in the header of the screen. the first few times i tried the install, it would run for about two minutes and then a message would pop-up saying "update paused. blah blah will resume when you reinsert the USB stick." I tried removing and re-inserting the stick but no go. i finally did a master reset to sync and restarted the install. it worked but this is when it was still going after 40 minutes.

    any ideas anyone?

    (BTW, it's the non-nav version in a 2016 edge titanium with sync 3 v1.0)

I had the "paused" message also. The solution for me was to use a new USB stick.

  6. Thanks so much to jmr061. I was able to reinstall v1.1 and get nav working again. Unfortunately reinstalling v2.2 afterwards ended in the same result with a navigation fault.

Persistence has finally paid off. I tried one more time and voila... it works!!! I did three things differently:

    1. I turned off the steering wheel heater on the main screen in the APIM settings with Forscan.

    2. I switched the right IPC to audio instead of nav.

    3. I purchased a new USB stick.

So I reinstalled v1.1 again (thanks to jmr061) and then installed v2.2 from the new USB stick and everything is fine. After a grand total of about 30 installations everything in finally working.

  7. Been working with @SweetcandyEdge and we got his OEM NAV working again...reverted the actual sync version to 1.1 and nav began working. I suspect what 2.2 does is "re-map" no pun intended the navigation maps or how it accesses them. This is an educated guess only. It appears his didn't do this for some reason. He is going to try 2.2 again to see if it works this time.

  8. Master reset did not work so I tried another USB stick. Once again, the install succeeded however after turning the Edge off, exiting, and then turning the Edge back on, I am still getting a Navigation Fault.

I tried the install another time and it succeeded with Navigation Fault still displayed however I did not restart after exiting. I have left the car to rest overnight... perhaps Navigation will work better in the morning when I restart :S.

    No luck. ?

I tried a few soft reboots and a couple more master resets this morning. The results are the same with a navigation fault. I checked for DTCs with Forscan and there are none. I am going to try the update one more time and then throw in the towel.

  9. Yours is a different issue than the others based on your symptoms. A master reset might still help, but others have noticed issues with Flash drives when getting errors like yours. I highly suggest trying a different flash drive and port.

  10. I installed the update on my 2016 Edge Sport with nav. The update seemed to go fine however following a restart I received a "Navigation fault" and as a result the built in nav does not work. I've attempted to reapply the update however it fails after about 10 minutes saying "Installation paused. The USB storage device has been changed or removed. Installation will resume when the device is re-inserted.". I tried reinserting the USB and got the same message after about 10 minutes. Any suggestions? I am going to reformat the drive and copy the files again tonight. I verified the hash code and it was correct.

  11. There hasn't been an official release date that I know off. New model 16s starting sometime in July are shipping with an updated APIM that is running version 2.0 but DO NOT have the carplay USB ports.

I believe I found another vehicle (17 with car play) that uses the same USB port as my 16 Edge and have ordered that as I have an APIM with 2.0 in it sitting on my desk. Once I get the USB ports I will play some and probably stick it in the Edge.

I am very interested in your progress. Please keep us posted ?

  12. I recommend a good winter tire on any vehicle; even in our Southern Ontario climate. We've had Blizzak tires on other vehicles and were very happy with them so we put 4 Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 Winter Tires on our FWD Edge and they performed beautifully.

Our vehicle was able to conquer the hill on our cul-de-sac in every type of weather this year. Many times there were 6 cars/trucks stuck on the hill and our Edge just went around them and never got stuck. Never had any issues with wet slush, deep snow, black ice or dry pavement in the winter.

We paid $227.99 per tire at Costco before taking delivery, and the dealer swapped the tires before we picked up our Edge in January. Now I'm thinking about swapping back the stock all seasons in the next couple weeks.

I also vote for the DM-V2. I have a set of four on both my 2011 and 2016 Edges and they are excellent winter tires. I also purchased mine at Costco.

  13. So went for first fill up on my 2016 Edge Sport. Noticed that the "low fuel warnings" that used to pop up on my 2012 Sport no longer appear. Also, no more vehicle health report, except for using "Ford Owner App" and applink, which is a pale comparison. Any thoughts on this? Am I missing a setting somewhere? Feels like a definite downgrade to the 2016 models, especially the low fuel warnings.

I went down to 40 km remaining and did not receive a warning. On my 2011 Edge, I receive a warning at 80 km left on a tank.
