Wish list of fixes for Major Upgrade Rewrite

1. Faster interface

2. New POI Updates for the GPS

3. Read SMS from Iphone 4X

4. Fix compatibility for different access points, as right now its pointless to have the AP in the car since it doesn't connect to most routers anyway.

5. Add compatibility to usb rocket stick or internet usb stick as of now I haven't seen an internet usb stick model in Canada that works.

6. Faster loading time for the GPS. ( When starting the car it takes a long time to load)

7. Weather and Traffice report.

8. Support for sending map Directions from Google maps to navigation system.( Currently this is only supported in the US)

It's intended to work with a 3g/4g wireless phone connection which would not be available to all devices in the car directly (you can share one 4g usb modem with 4 laptops/smart phones e.g.).

 

It's also intended to let you use the built-in web browser that is planned but I fear that got pushed back due to all the mft/sync problems. Once you get the web browser you can connect to a wi-fi hot spot and browse from the vehicle display.

 

Otherwise you're correct - there's no benefit.

My MKX 2011 will be 1 year old this month, and first when I bought this I also tried to use the access point with no success. I went through the same problems, for instance the access point will tell the password used is wrong. I was trying to connect to my home access point to see if it will work, but the sad thing is ford told me there is no USB stick in Canada that is supported at the moment. The only way it works is if you use bluetooth, but believe me this feature is useless since you can create a hotspot with your Iphone or Android.

So is it available in Canada? Travel Link is not.

Sorry to hear you got a lemon of a MFT system. I count myslef lucky that I have v2.4 and absolutely zero defects. I also refuse to believe I'm the only one who got a fully working system. As was stated before by another poster...its uncanny that we all have the very same hardware and software in our Edges yet different people experience different errors/bugs.

It's funny I have a MKX 2011 and have the same problem. It's all windows 95 all over again microsoft with lots of bugs.

I'm also thinking about replacing my car as I had my car for 8 month's now and almost every month i have to visit the dealer for updates or master resets. I believe Ford really dropped the ball on QA for the my lincoln touch.

I took my Edge Limited in a few weeks ago to get an update. They also swapped out the APIM. For 2 weeks everything was working beautifully but, as seems to be the norm with this crappy software things started breaking again shortly thereafter. Now the bluetooth audio will not work at all even after deleting and repairing the phone (and forgetting/repairing Sync on the phone). Unacceptable and even more annoying because the loaner MKX they gave me (a 2010 without MFT) worked perfectly.

 

Edit: FYI the update I received was MFT 2.11

Same here took my mkx last saturday to get the tbs 2.11 update now the voice commands don't work for the navigation.

Any one familiar with the CAMVAP process?

I got my Edge last October with 1.8. Had problems so got 2.4. Had problems got 2.8 (twice) and a new module. Had problems, got 2.11. Still problems, so I sent emails to 2 lemon lawyers over the weekend.

I had the update this weekend too, but i still have same problems.

I own a Lincoln MKX 2011 limited edition.

Just had some problem 2 days ago again with the lincoln Touch, the navigation system voice just stopped working.

I had to do a master reset and lost all my settings again. Lincoln should have a way of saving these settings and loading them back once the master reset is completed.

The bad news is that I was on the phone with ford and they said more updates are on the way. This will be the 5th time my car goes to the garage for updates in 3 month's.

First camera was blacked out.

Then there was navigation goes black.

the last one I could remember was the sirius stopped working.

I believe ford licoln should start thinking about rebate, or soon we will hear about class action law suites.
