  1. I have a similar, though not nearly as bad from the sound of it, issue w/ my 08 MKX. The passenger side rear window is not installed correctly, the lower front edge sticks out almost 1/4". I took it back and asked the dealer to fix it. They brought in an outside window replacement company, which managed to get more than just a little bit of mastic smeared around on the paint. After the replacement, it pretty much looked identical. I pointed that out to the service guy who pretty much just shrugged and didn't say a word. I then went out to the lot & 1/2 of them were identical to mine & 1/2 were installed correctly. I guess some days quality is job 2 at ford. Clearly something went out of whack on the line. I'm guess that it was in the sheetmetal because of the consistency in the ones on the lot and mine. Again, while not as bad as your issue, I had to remind myself that it costs $6-8k less than an comparably equipped Lexus or Acura, which would not have such issues. I took a leap of faith by leaving the lexus family and though I love the MKX, just have this nagging feeling I'll end up regretting it. I hope not, but I do notice lots of little, and I do mean little, things that are not done as well as you'd get on a lexus. I hope the dealer backs you up and gets the issue resolved. When I bought my wife a lexus in 06, we noticed a couple of very faint scratches in the paint that were touched up very well, but still apparent in the right light at the right angle. The dealer agreed in writing, after the deal was done, to either fix it to our satisfaction or take the car back. Its the service after the sale that makes all the difference. When buying a luxury car, that should come with the package. Good luck!
  2. I'm down to two potentials for my MKX: 1) 5SPTPIC - My wife like this one. 2)NOTHING - This is my favorite as I want to (hopefully) be the only person in the country w/ a vanity plate that means absolutely NOTHING! :shades:
  3. Wow, one really has to watch their choice of words around here. For the sensitive forum members, I've edited the OP to be a little kinder to you, but for the record here's the definition of "demand" from dictionary.com: de·mand /dɪˈmænd, -ˈmɑnd/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[di-mand, -mahnd] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –verb (used with object) 1. to ask for with proper authority; claim as a right 2. to ask for peremptorily or urgently 3. to call for or require as just, proper, or necessary And no, I do not work for the govt, but as a property owner have first hand experience w/ the negative health effects of mold spores due to "moisture intrusion" in places it isn't supposed to be. By chance, do you work for ford?
  4. I noticed right away (just bought my MKX about 2 weeks ago) what sounded like some slight road noise coming from the rear passenger side, almost like the back door wasn't closed all the way. Started looking and couldn't believe that I didn't notice this earlier. The window is offset almost 1/4". I can't tell if there is a gap between the window & the body for the noise to come through but I suspect so. If there is, I also worry about moisture intrusion. I've got an appt on Friday for a TPMS fault (tire pressure ok, but still a fault) and I plan to bring this up and have them fix it. I've gone back and forth about how much of a PIA to be about it if the dealer resists fixing it, but have finally decided that after paying >$40k for a new "luxury" car, it should not by any means come from the factory w/ the workmanship of a <$20k car. Would you gently, but firmly, request this be fixed by the dealer? My other thought is that by gently, but firmly, requesting a fix, it will hopefully provide some feedback to the factory that they need to improve on outgoing quality.
  5. Hi Timmyz, I literally just received a call from my dealer an hour ago and my saleswoman pleaded my case to the owner and they agreed to do the swap for me. I think it was just the sales manager being a jerk (surprise!). Once the nice lady that sold me the vehicle returned to work and talked some sense into everyone, they saw the light and decided to do the swap tomorrow morning. Make sure you test drive one w/ 20's before you go that route. If you were drawn to the MKX by the comfortable/quiet ride, as I was, I will tell you there is a difference. Dean
  6. yes, I thought it was me. I just got my mkx 4 days ago and have been tweaking the seat/steering wheel adjustments trying to find a comfortable position. It's weird. I've driven many vehicles (rentals) and have never experienced this in any vehicle before, at least not to the point that I didn't get used to it after a day or two. I guess I'll have to do a "search" as the other responder so gently suggested to see if I can find some good suggestions for relief.
  7. I tried contacting that individual offline, but never received a response. Is there a way to delete this thread as the dealer has now agreed to swap them with 18's for me?
  8. Please disregard this post, The dealer swapped out the wheels for me. Hi all, I'm probably in the minority, but I hate the MKX 20" chrome rims. No offense to 20 year-olds, but they look like they were designed for that crowd. I've been asked twice, in 3 days of ownership, if they are spinners!!! I'm downgrading to 18's for the look and ride. If anyone is interested, please let me know. I haven't worked out a price, but all I really care about is recouping what I end up putting into getting a set of 18's, so should be a good deal to be had for someone who likes the look of 20's Dean
  9. Go test drive one and you'll know why you have an mkx. Pay special attention to the fit & finish of interior trim pcs, especially around the dash. Crap, crap, crap! I've been a lexus owner for years and decided to give the domestics another look. Buick's mktg did a much better job than their engineering/mfg departments. Ask the dealer to show you the erector set experiment gone bad on the middle row seats. If you want to flip them down or move forward, pull this, push that and flip here. Absolutely horrible. Lots of cheap plastic in the cabin. Look at the door panels. cheap. I left very disappointed. It appeared to be rushed to market and still needs 2-3, or more, passes of refinement. As I said earlier, I've owned lexus for years, but fell in love w/ the mkx. It's not a lexus, but very close. The dealer interaction/buying experience: Well, let's just say that was not even close to what I've experienced at Lexus. Ford is doing good on the engineering/mfg side of the business, but they need to send some of the dealers down to Lexus to learn professionalism & customer service.
  10. Hi, I just purchased the MKX Monochrome LE last night. When I did a test drive a couple of weeks ago, it was on the non-LE model w/ 18" rims. I was concerned about how the 20" rims would ride compared to the 18", and for me, I prefer the 18", but I really wanted the monochrome LE version. I just went back to the dealer, less than 24 hours after purchase, and asked to downgrade to the 18" rims by swapping w/ another vehicle on the lot. (For the record, the first salesperson I spoke to told me I could do this). From my perspective, this would be to the dealers benefit as the 20" rims are a $900 add-on option to a non-LE. The sales manager was an a$$hole and had a flippant attitude that pretty much said, "we got your money, now go away". I left feeling like I made a mistake. My last three car purchases were all Lexus and they bend over backwords, even after the sale to make you happy. Not here! So, since I'm likely going to have to make this switch on my own, my question for the forum is this (actually two questions): 1) What's an appropriate price to sell the 20" rims w/ tires for? 2) Does anyone w/ the 18" chrome rims want to swap with me? I live in the SF bay area, so it would need to be a local swap. My only stipulations are that you have less than 1k miles on the tires and there is no road rash on the rims.
