My Edge is US spec and I can tell you this. When I turn my parking lights on, the DRLs (vertical LEDs) come on and my OEM turn signal amber lights come on and stay on. Then once I used my turn indicator, the turn signals would blink and then turn back to constantly being on after the turn was complete.

 

I replaced those OEM amber turn signal lights with these switchback LEDs. For simplicity, the switchback lights are designed to work like this. When you turn your lights on, or just the parking lights on, a current is supplied to the LEDs which turns the white LEDs on. The white is the constant color that is displayed. Then when you use your turn indicator, it sends an additional current down the line to those LEDs, which intern triggers the LED to stop displaying white and to blink amber. Then, after the turn is complete, the white color is constantly displayed again. There were no wiring changes that I had to make. They were simply "plug and play" LEDs. If your Edge is European spec, then I don't know if they are wired the same (maybe someone else on the forum has that answer).

So it's how a suggested it would be. They made a few mods on the car before I got papers and I think light was on of the topics on a short list. Orange lights for sure are not allowed for DRL. Guess they changed that as indicator only.

But with these LEDs i would get more DRL and a happy road office with white DRL lights and orange indicators. Think I'll go to the garage an tell them to undo that flashlight behavior and then put the LEDs in -

I'm bit confused about these LEDs - or maybe it's just the way my lights are working here that it doesn't make sense:

Without any mods done on my 2011 edge:

- when I turn on my DRLs the lower long striped ones are going on - nothing else.

- With low beams these DRLs stay on plus the normal lights go on too.

Orange indicator bulbs only go on when I indicate and at no other occasion.

So now if I replace those original amber bulbs with the bi-LEDs they will be on when I turn on the LED?

Can't figure out why all of a sudden they should be on without any change on the wiring.

Can it be my lights are set different than in the US...or are this LED so smart to change the DRL habit?

ive used DDMTUNING.com for a few years, never a failure, never a problem. And at $45. For a slim 55w slim kit, how do you go wrong. Never waited more than a week to get them either. The 9006 kit in my Sport went in easy, and hasn't missed a beat with the automatic headlights. it's a no brainer to buy their wiring harness for only $12.50, it's already fused and has a relay. I have pics posted of my beam patterns and light.

Bit confused what they sell as "Error Eliminator". Can't find it in the FAQ or anywhere on there page - if I don't buy that will they deliver it with errors ?

I decided to install a HID kit in my Edge as well.

Can anyone recommend a certain brand/type for the 2011 Sport maybe even with own experience?

I would prefer a 55w 4500K one. But please don't make it a technical topic or you will loose me

how did you do the backlights? looks awesome on white edge. I've a black one and try to imagine if that would look as cool or if the effect is lost due to no contrast.

I think for EU numberplates I found something even the explanation on there page is not really helpfull and the price quiet high.

finally again had some time. managed to get into mysync without US-cellphone number (via the ford registration).

Yet I'm not so sure if what I get is enough.

Page tells me I've to check my VIN..but I'm 100% sure it's correct...plus further below it's ask me (again) for an US cellphone number.

When I go to updates I get a page like shown.....empty..nothing to download - is that normal? I doubt.

Yes I know I should rather ask that in the mysync forum (just in case anyone will come up with that line)

I guess I'm at version 1.8 - do you guys have newer versions? I wrote to mysync but they are slow and first answer is always "you are abroad - we don't care".

My Edge opens/closes the door when I touch the door handle with the keys close (in my pocket normally)....so I wonder if it wouldn't open as well when the keys are in the car and someone does that....

I think I'll simply try it out tomorrow...I've my Edge just for a few days and still not familiar with all it's possibilities...

It's might a silly question. But what shall I use that keypad for?

I've a keyless entry function with the carkeys already which is way easier than my mobile ATM on the side.

I mean yes I can open the car with the code - but thats it. Not drive away of course.

After thinking about I only found one surplus: You don't trust your partner but want her/him nevertheless to clean the inside of your Edge

oh super - then it's not a big deal. I can ask some friends in the States to " borrow" there number. Won't harm them.

I just wrote syncmyride a mail asking for an other way to get updates.

Let's see what they will tell me.

I don't understand how you get the updates:

a.) create an account. Download a file on a USB stick and plug it in the Edge

or

b.) directly "automatically" via cellphone when you're in the car?

If it's a) a "fake" US number could solve my problem. If it's b.) it won't since the update is download volume (some kb or mb) and needs to be paid (or is paid with your cellphone contract)

any other way?

I exported my edge to Switzerland...no syncmyride working here since it demands an US cellphone number....

If so where can I get that from? Is there a download page at Ford somewhere?

Load it on a stick, plug it in the Edge..and done...at least my expectation.

Music streaming works fine in my Edge 2011. You can also 'forward' and 'back' through the selected playlist on the iPhone....changing playlist is only possible from the Iphone (or at least I've not found out how)

I've a bit of an odd question.

I'm not much into cars. I just bought my Edge 2011for the style (and yes ok..307hp, 22" wheels and exclusiveness a bit too).

But basically really bought it and took all the hazard to ship it all the way to Switzerland because I just like that car (not on sale here: Europe you go with the Ford Kuga which does not make my heart beat at all).

Anyhow went to work with it. Workmates all think it's really cool (after telling them for months I ordered a car in the States) and then came the question I couldn't answer…so you might help me out.

In which "league" is a the Ford Edge playing?

Now for Switzerland that's a really nice price in my opinion despite of all my follow-up cost like shipping, clearance, modification...

Assuming that fact "2x" multiplier goes with Edge as well it would cost like 80'000 USD here…..

So is the Ford Edge 2011 really in competition with an Q5 or XC60 since the play in the same price range in the States?

Or which cars would you group with the Edge?

After I saw the Edge first time in Dubai some years ago and last year in the US again I always knew I wanted to have that car too...

Finally end last year $ dropped below 1 CHF so I decided to finally order it: Edge Sport 2011 black.

Had to wait four month but finally got it last week fresh from factory, shipped, cleared and alternated (even no clue what they changed).

I think the car is quite an eye-catcher anyhow - but here it's almost unique. Only saw one Edge ever on the roads in like 2 years.

Normally not so emotional about cars..but loving my Edge
