  1. I'm not going to trust that, I will still take mine in. My light sometimes comes on for a few seconds, sometimes it stays on for a minute or two. always turns off while I am driving. Sometimes I ge the two little icons to come on on the lower right, so the indicators are very intermittent.

  2. I have an Edge SEL with about 32k miles and I started getting the Advance Trac warning light a few days ago. It will come on for a few seconds, sometines a few minutes, doesn't come back on immediately when I start the car. I am taking it in, but I cannot duplicate it on demand so I will take a pic when it happens again

  3. I was at a dealer and the accessory person was clear that due to liability and that those were not the original head rests, she could not tell me that it is something I should do. She danced aroud the topic and was not jumping at the chance to take one off of a newer Edge and try it on my 11. For $400 a pair, wife and I passed. Also what would the implications be if we were in an accident and one of us was hurt and the head rests were involved?

  4. Got the shiny blue package today. I will install tomorrow I guess. I was reading that the outside temp display will no longer be on the main screen.......dumb. Anyway around this?

Don't take this wrong, it is an opinion, but why are a lot of people complaining about the temp display moving? Who looks at it much? I have had my Edge for 1.5 years and I have looked at the temp maybe 2 times. If passenger wants to know, they can ask the driver, you look down and there it is. I understand wanting the time big and easy to see, you need to know what time it is to see if you are running late.

    I just don't get it.

  5. Hello everyone! I have a 2011 Ranger FX4 (4th Ranger) and my wife has a 2003 Escape XLT, 4WD with 260,000 kms. on it. We are looking to replace her Escape and are seriously looking at the Edge. That is why I joined your Forum. Research and discussions.

We went to the Detroit Autoshow, back in January to look at the new 2013 Ford Escape and came away a bit disappointed. Our first priority in looking at a new vehicle is the ability to lay two sets of golf clubs across the back of the hatch compartment, plus luggage. The new Escape could not. It was too small, too tight. That is why we are looking at the Edge.

Edge is a good car, but I would not get My Ford Touch, or wait until you see feedback on the whenever to be released complete rewrite. I haven't checked, but I believe Explorer is about the same cost and same mileage but more room. Also for whatever it is worth, Edge sales are down year to date over last year, only by about 1%, Explorer sales are up about 20%.

  6. Just today, I told my wife that when the update comes out, we will be loosing the center temp display, and she was upset. She had to bust my chops, and said "what kind of piece of crap are you driving?" :finger:

I could not care where the temp display is or even if I have one. I just want the system to work. It's like the old joke of hanging a string outside of your window. If it is wet it is raining, if it has ice on it it is cold, if it is moving it is windy.

  7. I chuckled when I saw

"My daughter's MFT in her 2012 Focus works flawlessly except for 2 lockups requiring a fuse pull right after she got it 2 months ago. And she's a "real" person. "

"Except for 2 lockups in 2 months"???? "Requiring a fuse pull"? There should be none. My wife has an 11 Equinox with voice control and touch screen and has not had one lockup. I have an 11 Edge and have regular problems, and it is not because I do not wait long enough after car start or I do no know how to use the system. I also refuse to consider pulling the fuse or disconnecting the battery as a solution.

I am patient and I will just wait and see. I appreciate Ford doing the Beta testing, but if it does not resolve problems for basically all owners, I think they are in for some big problems, operationally and PR.

  8. I've been beta testing the new Myford Touch system for about a week now and I can tell you all that the upgrade is a very good one...screens much simpler....stupid "Swing" design of the climate tab is gone. screen has better and faster response (for a resistive screen).

So far, i haven't had any system crashes or freezes.

Also, my iPOD integrates much better. Used to have issues where it would create multiple USB devices on the old system and then get confused as to which one to use.

probably my favorite part so far is the new bluetooth sync performance. the voice sync responds much faster and clearer, I can hear people on the phone much better, and they tell me they can hear me much better as well. (using a droid razr phone)

I still don't have the new navigation SD card yet, so i haven't been able to try it. the navigation is just faulting on mine right now because the update doesn't seem to work with my current navigation card.

in short, this is a very welcome update....probably what they should have released to begin with.

I realize that the purpose of you using it is for testing, but I don't consider your experience too valid unless you are also using navigation. Everyone testing it needs to be using phone, nav and mp3 player, voice and touch commands, A LOT! I would guess that with 1000 people Ford is getting a good distribution of devices, but I hope they are documenting model of phones that are being used, type of mp3 player and length/duration of destination/route.

  9. I would doubt they can keep people from saying they got a settlement but maybe they can't discuss the terms of the agreement?? Starting to think this might be my only option. My contact at Ford has gotten a little less helpful and I feel like everytime I try to "work" with Ford it is an excercise in futility. You get passed from department to department and never get an answer. Even when Ford tries to make a piece offering things go wrong. It is just an unbelievably frustrating experience.

This doesn't belong in this thread so this will be my last comment about it here, but whatever written document you are offered and agree to sign dictates the terms, and you should rethink your doubt.

  10. Admitting a greater problem with the MFT would open Ford to ransacking by the lawyers. By saying that they are giving away a free upgrade is marketing BS at best. They have yet to fix the MFT in my vehicle, so this is just another fix for me. I suppose we'll all find out if this is the final fix, or will v2.0 bring a new set of problems?

Ask yourself this question: could you sell your Edge now, at a fair price, with the MFT problems? I couldn't, so I was forced to seek the advice of an attorney, and I prudently sought one who has been successful against Ford for the MFT problems. In October of last year I was unable to get Ford to fix the MFT problems, the dealer will not work on it anymore, because there was no fix available. I was told to wait until another update is released in early 2012. Ford basically told me the same thing, to just wait some more, and I refuse to accept that response.

For all new vehicle owners, I recommend getting video documentation of a problem. In the video, remember to keep a nice pleasant tone, say your name, the date, time, and a description of the problem as it occurs on the video. Frankly, any problem with your new vehicle should be documented this way, as it can help the repair facility to see and/or hear the problem should they be unable to reproduce it.

Also, you never know if you'll need the proof. I was naive and let the dealer and Ford put me off for over a year with promise after promise that this was the last time. You do not want to wait this long before taking action! It is to their benefit to keep you driving that vehicle, adding miles, wear and tear, anything to reduce the value of the vehicle. Fortunately, I had proof from multiple repair records and I was able to capture video on my phone of recurring MFT problems. And I continue to do so. Keep detailed repair records. My dealer tried to hide an MFT repair by only documenting the oil change. Get the dealer to correct the repair record and include ALL work.

Ford gets four shots to fix a warranty item in my State before you can sue. I gave them many more than that, and they still blew me off. It's just business. And Ford lost mine for life.

Netizen, your profile says you are in the midwest. I am in St. Louis. All I can say is I have not contacted an attorney, nor have I been offered a settlement. But from what I hear, don't people have to keep quiet about it? Aren't there are unreasonable aspects to the settlement offer? Maybe we should talk.

  11. Nice, this happened to me today. I made a call (well, received a call). Then connected to the "sync services" (no clue why I really did that, but I did. I haven't figured out any real value to doing so yet). The Edge I am playing with was bought new just a few days ago. Fully loaded 2011 Edge Limited FWD... Sadly, I am concerned that updating the sync system last night from the website might have been a mistake. I had a few issues before just after purchasing... nav going dark, slow as molasses response times... lock ups... and stuff... now the phone... absolutely love the car... love the nav and stuff (if it works)... hoping the fix i am reading about works. More than a couple times I have had to turn the car off and open the door, then close it to reset the system sort of. which doesn't always work. I have since found a video that shows where the power connector is to the system under the fuse panel hatch. unless someone has a better idea... (still reading I am sure I will find many). Wish I could expedite a fix somehow...

Do a master software reset through the touch screen, that fixed a lot of my problems. Also, to do an occasional reboot, instead of pulling a fuse or disconnecting the battery, somewhere on this site there is a delayed reboot program. You put it on a thumb drive, connect it in your car and it loads in about 10 seconds. The next time you start the car you get the "Sync performing system maintenance" reboot.

  12. I had an 05 Escape that I sold when I got my 11 Edge. I had 0 problems in 120k miles with my Escape 3.0 L V6. it was a very good vehicle. I thought the interior was fine and some of the text started wearing off f few buttons, but what do you expect after 6 years. My SEL Edge gets slightly better mileage which I like since it is a bigger engine. It is a nicer vehicle, my only problem has been MFT, but I got the ESP which covers it, so I am not worried for 6 years 100k miles. I just want it to work right.

There will not be a hybrid version of the new Escape and it will have MFT. No 6 cylinder either, but I believe it will have the 4 ecoboost.

  13. I used fords online builder and put san fran zip code in. I come up with $28,375 for the 3.5 or $29,370 for the 2.0 ecoboost. So those prices are before all the other crap. The Ford builder doesn't allow the addition of the leather seats. so not sure how much they actually cost.

I don't know all of the options you have, but I would not get it if it has My Ford Touch until the new release and you can see all of the problems have been worked out.. Or, if you really want the car, ask for more of a discount because of the uncertainty of My Ford Touch

  14. Good luck on the Lemon Law. I see she lives in Missouri. We have one of the worst Lemon Laws in the country. For the most part, it only covers things which inhibit the safe operation of the vehicle. I would put all my eggs in one basket so to speak on the sudden accelerating and braking. That would probably be her only way out. I also live in Missouri and tried the Lemon Law on my last car. Even though I had a problem which had been fixed 7 previous times with no actual fix in sight, it didn't inhibit the safe operation of my vehicle (technically, even though it was the TPMS system) so I was out of luck! I wish good luck to her if she decides to take that route though! Let us know how it turns out!

I am in Missouri and I have already received one offer from Ford (too low) for my 11 Edge for MFT. The primary thing my lawyer has said is that Ford rarely buys vehicles back. They give you money, you keep the car, but they still must honor the warranty and it does not go on the record as being defined as a lemon. I am supposed to receive another offer this week and hopefully the situation will be resolved.
