  1. Redfire Edge checking back in to see how you guys are doing...

I'm sorry to hear that you guys are still without your Edges! It's pretty incredible.

I don't care how good the vehicle quality ends up being when the Edge finally is released. The Negative Word of Mouth generated so far by this launch is not good! :banghead: Unfortunately, this has put dealers in an akward position. So, even more discontent has been bred. It's going to take a major spin doctor to fix this one.

I do Customer Satisfaction & Loyalty research for a living. This one will be one for the story books for sure. :stop: BTW iforku - Customer-centric companies (e.g. SUCCESSFUL companies) are usually pretty thankful for "whiners" like us. Having ran the Office of the President (Complaint Resolution) group for a global company, I know full well that knowing what pleases customers and what P****S them off helps companies not only stay ahead of the competition but stay in business.

A lot of this could have been mitigated by open dialogue with Edge's early adopters (pre-order customers). Keep us up to date. Don't give us excuses. We'll respect you more for being honest and we'll stay customers.

I am even more persuaded that my decision to put a little "Zoom Zoom" in my life was a wise choice. :yup:

  2. Well, Edge friends I must bid you Adieu.

The delay in the delivery of my Edge was perhaps Divine intervention. With said delay and the help of an unsolicited impetus, I have had to reconsider my purchase.

I called my dealership to today to let them know that I would not be proceeding with the purchase.

I wish you all the best of experience with your Edges. Enjoy!

  3. Abducted by Pac Man...

    ORDERED DELAYED...

The moved my SEL build date to November 6th!!! :( I'm starting to get very very frustrated. What will suck is if and when it finally arrives if the rates and residuals suck and they want $450 a month for a $27,000 car. Let's just hope that doesn't happen. Because if it does I might be forced to move to the competition.

    Bill

So with all of the waiting and uncertainty of arrival, I test drove a loaded Mazda CX-7 Grand Touring (minus tech package) over the weekend for comparison's sake. I can drive it away for $27k with 36 mth lease payment of $390/mth and $1,749 up front.

I've heard that Ford will offer attractive leases, but just like you (audiomidman), I'm wondering how attractive they're going to be...

  4. The Edge's 3 year residual value has been set at 51%, meaning after 3 years, the Edge is anticipated to retain 51% of its original value. When you finance a vehicle, you are paying for the entire vehicle and building equity at the same time, so when you are finished paying it off you own the vehicle in return. When you lease a vehicle, you're paying essentially only for the depreciation but you never build any equity unless you decide to purchase it at the end of the lease term. So if the residual is 51%, that means the depreciation is 49%. The lower the amount of depreciation (higher residual), the lower your payments will be with all other things being equal. When a vehicle's depreciation is high (residual value is low), your lease payments will be higher. There is a way around that where the manufacturer can subvent (subsidize) the lease. In this case, the manufacturer artificially increases the residual value of the car for the purposes of the lease in an attempt to make the lease affordable. Of course, the manufacturer basically eats it at the end because they have essentially paid extra to get you to lease the car, but when the car is returned after the lease is up, they cannot sell it for the artificially increased price. So when the residual value is relatively high, it is a Win-Win situation for the person leasing and for the manufacturer. You get a lease at a good monthly payment, and the manufacturer doesn't have to spend extra money to give you a good deal on the lease.

Thanks for answering this question for audiomidiman. I'm not exactly an expert on leasing, so I appreciated the help explaining it. Now, if we could only find out what the money factor is going to be...

YIKES! Did they say what happened to cause the delay? It kind of makes me wonder if I am getting the straight scoop or not.

I can empathize with you about not knowing the lease rates yet. I do know that the residual has been set at 51%. So, that's favorable news. I'm trying to cut my car payment down

  6. I know this picture isn't of an Edge, but I thought you would find the color awesome ;)

Thanks! Gorgeous color isn't it? The Fusion looks great dressed in it too.

I'll definitely stand out in the snow.

  7. I think it was suppose to be built on the 20th through the 24th (Last week). I will be calling today to find out what is going on with it. I have another payment due this week on my explorer so I need to know what to do.

    Will keep you posted.

Sorry for the delay in a reply but I have been keeping my mind busy by restoring a Ms. Pac Man... Which keeps me away from the several forums I hang out on.

    Bill

I was beginning to think you were abducted by extraterrestrials or something. Here's hoping your Edge is completed and awaiting shipment!

The Ford Rep was at my dealer yesterday and checked on the status of my order while she was there. Everything was right on schedule and my Edge is to be built this week.

We'll be happily driving our Edges in no time!

  8. Many many of them are here at OAC with the vista roof. They all work and well and absolutely no leaks in the rain. Don't worry yours is on the way.

My salesperson checked today and said that my order (SEL Plus with Vista) is on schedule and is to be built this week.

I don't know what's up with your dealer. Sorry, but I have a hard time believing them. I don't know...Smells fishy...

  9. People are starting to go to first aid for restrictions. Jobs are overloaded and ergonomics hasn't even been addressed yet. Leaders are on the line rather than doing a leaders job. There are many issues with this vehicle that management knows about and walks away from.

They aren't shipping anything until mid-November. Also, there is a problem with the AWD units. It is a vendor problem and they haven't sent anything to our repairmen on how to fix it. Perhaps they don't know how to fix it. I would buy the extended warranty though if I were you. First years are always fraught with recalls with subsequent models being better built with less defects. Now if we would get the manpower to produce these vehicles.....

Wow! Thanks for such cheery news! Now, I just have all kinds of warm and fuzzy feelings about the Edge I ordered! Kind of like the warm and fuzzy feeling I get from watching the news.

  10. Any one notice they reviewer stated they drove a fully loaded Edge. With "monster moonroof" and reard DVD entertainment? Page 3.

Didn't think that was possible. At least by the Ford config website...

Information from the Ford media site does mention that there is a dealer installed DVD Entertainment Center (Back of the Headrests) option available for those with the Vista roof.

  11. If anyone comes across any test drive reports please post because the two I have read were not exactly stellar. Hope to hear some unbiased reports that are closer to what the press releases were boasting in terms of handling, ride and excelleration! I expect to see some roll out after the big media launch yesterday.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure which two you are referring to, but here is Car and Driver's preview:

  12. There is the section on blueovalnews.com forums with letters to management. That is why I think Ford has a say on this website. As for the banners appearing only on canadian computers... who knows, its where I log in from

Your computer's IP adddress is very easily read by another server and it is the tattletale that tells everyone where you are located and what Internet service provider you use.

For example, I visited the CBC-TV website to look at the Edge ad attached to the online news video feed and the site server knew that I was located outside of Canada. It promptly let me know that the content was intended for Canadian audiences and that I could only view the international feed.

  13. December? That sucks. I thought they were to start building them Mid October and shipping in November. So, they've been building them since September?

Everything I've read and heard, except for Robert's post above, has said and still says November.

My start date still says the week of October 30th. I'll be checking in with the ERL (Evil Robot Lady) soon for an update. Until I hear otherwise, I am optimistic that mine will make here by mid-November.

Audiomidiman - I'm believing that you'll get yours a week sooner than me. :yup: Let's think positive thoughts!

BTW - Here's how you can have your very own conversation with ERL:

  14. Very true, but the Murano also happens to be the most expensive non-premium brand five-seat crossover. How many Muranos are sold? If Ford sold that many Edges, would it be happy? I think they're going for a higher volume, and that will require lower prices. I don't remember which plant these are coming out of, and how much of that plant they have to fill, though.

Here's an article about the Edge pricing and it's true competitors:
