Change the spark plugs used ome gapped to recommended gap setting of .054 gas mileage has dropped to around 14.0mpg why?

Has any one attempted to change timing belt I have 08 edge and would like to see pictures to procedures taken to accomplish this .Also would like to know what a dealer would charge for this.
