  1. Since you guys have been thru this.

#1, does anyone have a copy or can point me to the TSB?

Post #24 on this thread has a working link to the TSB.

Thanks, I actually went back and re read and realized I missed it. I appreciate that. I may just very well take akirby's advice and just do the plugs under normal maintenance. No reason to pull the trigger on OCPs and PCM if they are not giving me a reason.

If the problem does hit me, I guess the only real thing that sucks would be to have to take the manifold off again to get to the backside COPs.

  2. All,

I thought I had seen where there was not a maintenance fuel filter on the Edge.

I recently saw something where someone was saying they performed a fuel filter filter replacement.

What's the scoop? Is there a fuel filter external to the fuel tank? I am thinking there is probably one internal to the tank and attached to the fuel pump.

    Thanks!

  3. I was able to get the stretchy belt done without the tool, but I went thru about 10 zip ties in the process. Luckily a buddy had some industrial strength ties and the 2nd one of those actually held and handled enough torque so that we could spin the belt on. Definitely took a lot longer than it probably should have.

  4. Lots of info folks!

I started reading this thread because I have an 07 with 108K miles on it and am looking at buying plugs to perform a tune up. I had no idea about the COP and PCM issues!

Since you guys have been thru this.

#1, does anyone have a copy or can point me to the TSB?

#2, I am definitely not under warranty anymore, but this still pisses me off because it's an apparent defect

#3, Are ALL 07-08 Edges affected or does it depend on a certain time of build? Just trying to figure out if I am 100% exposed.

#4, If I decide I want to keep this car, is there anything I should replace along with the plugs to proactively keep this from happening? Do I need to replace the plugs AND COPs AND order a PCM? I'd almost be game with replacing the plugs and COPs as a maintenance, but if the PCM is what's causing the problem, then that's a waste.

If the answer is to replace ALL of those parts, I am almost willing to let it ride and take my chances. Crazy to see these failing with less than 50K miles. Does it mean that because I am over 100, I am out of the woods?

I should add that I'd be doing the work myself, so the whole 1000s of dollars to Ford is not gonna happen.

    Thanks for any input guys!

  5. Was anyone able to confirm how this is done?

Is it as simple as using a belt tensioner tool on the belt tensioner, like other belts?

What about the smaller belt behind the main belt? How does that come off?

    Thanks!

  6. Obviously a problem for the 07 Edge. Same thing happened to my Edge SEL over the past few weeks. Nothing coming out of the nozzle, I parked the car activated the washer fluid and while I could hear the pump working nothing was coming out of the nozzle. I then opened the hood and tried again and this time I could see the washer fluid pouring out on the underside of the hood. After removing the heat shield from the undersire of the hood I could see th one nozzle was broken and when I followed it back to the other nozzle that one was broken as well. It seems strange both nozzles would break like that at the same time, and from reading this forum I'm not the only one. I hope the nozzles and hoses are not that expensive, anyone who's been through this know what the stealership charges?

Yeah, it is what it is. Easy to replace and no more than $10-$15 I want to say I remember them being.

  7. Just had both of mine fail as well this week. One was broken off completely and the other was so brittle that it crumbled as soon as I touched it.

Guess I will have to order new ones from the dealer and try to figure out how to get these out of the hood. Any ideas? I am VERY surprised that they failed with 75,000 miles on it. I have never had these things fail on any other car I have owned. Seems like a few people are having this problem.

    Thanks!

  8. Hi hmayeu2. :D I would recommend that you leave it alone for now.

It does not sound like it is important enough to make a special service trip for (unless you feel it is also causing a wind or water leak).

So, next time you have your car to the Dealer for regular service, point it out to the Service Adviser. In this way, if it is something that needs to be corrected (instead of just tucked back in), they can fix it. If it just needs to be tucked back in, they can do it.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

Mine is going in Wed. for this problem and the rear spoiler seal...

  9. I ended up getting the Firestone Destination LE. I may not be as happy with them as I would be with the Michelins, but I have a buddy that is a manager at a Firestone dealership and he got me a set for $435 plus $100 cash card. So for basically $80 a tire. The Michelins that I was looking at where twice the price. So the checking account won this time.

    Great deal..you can't beat that!

I did not know much about the Hankooks before our Edge, but it's not a bad tire. At about 25k miles now and they have less than 50% tread left and that is with missing the first couple of rotations. Good tire, minimal noise, great in wet, great in snow...but I still manage to spin the heck out of them when I stomp on the gas in dry weather. Go figure!

  10. Hi 18ACHEVY. :D It is in the fuel tank and does not need replacement in normal service.

    From the Owners Manual:

    FUEL FILTER

Your vehicle is equipped with a lifetime fuel filter that is integrated with

the fuel tank. Regular maintenance or replacement is not needed.

    Hope this information helps.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

I can't believe that...How can a fuel filter NOT be serviced? It's natural that a filter do it's job and need replacement!

I rather they put one on there and have me change it for the 15 minutes it takes.

  11. On the test drive of my Edge, I told the salesman that I feel a vibration when I jump on the brake pedal. Only moderate pressure on the brake pressure didn't cause an issue. He stated it was the rust on the rotor, from the car sitting. Wouldn't that light rust be gone after a few stops? That's what was thinking. Anyway, after taking it in, turned out to be warped front rotors. They just turned them and all is well.

  12. HAve you guys notices a sudden jerk that feels like someone has tapped your bumber while hitting the accelerator after drifting at around 30 km/H?

It's really unsettling - I have felt it 4 or 5 times and it feels like someone has hit the car (or CUV!!)

There seems to be many posts floating around that this is normal for this transmission...It pretty much happens when you are lighly on the gas, cruising around at low speeds. Almost like the tranny is unsure of what to do.

  13. I have had a 2007 Edge for 3 days now (just rolled over 300 miles). I have noticed that the shifts from 1st to 2nd seem to be "searching" at times. I have noticed that when I take off a little more slowly it is more noticealbe then if I get on it a little more. I'm going to watch it over the next few days before I start chewing on the dealer that it needs to get fixed.

This is a lot of money for this purchase I hope it doesn't end up biting me in the rear end!!!

In reading more and more, I believe that this is a characteristic of this transmission. It seems like everywhere I read on this, it seems to happen at slow/low speeds. No issues whatsoever when you are getting to about 3k RPMs between shifts. What I don't know is, will this cause issues down the line.

  14. Hello All,

My Edge was just at the dealer for 5 days fixing various issues that I complained about with less than 2k miles on it.

-molding around passenger side door handle was loose

-driver's side A pillar column molding had a 1/4"-1/2" gap/pulled away from the upholstery below it

-paint had dirt in it around the gas cap which would eventually cause paint to chip

-bad car and brake vibration when stomping on the brakes at anything over 40mph

Wife was driving the car today and we felt a HARD shift between one of the gears. Was the first time we had felt that.
