  1. I know all about state laws and headlights, and I'm all for it. I'm also not so stupid as to not know how to adjust my dash-lights. Do you really want to do that every time you use your wipers in daylight hours? The point I was attempting to make was why not just equip the Ford with full-time daytime running lights. That way we're safe rain or shine! Maybe this just all went over your heads......
  2. I've got a 07 SE with the "Auto Lamps with Wiper Activation" feature, that is "when turn on the windshield wipers, the headlights automatically come on". I can't believe I actually paid extra money for this feature. WHAT A BONEHEAD OF ENGINEERING!!!!!! Let me give you the scenario....(I'm sure those of you who are unfortunate enough to have paid extra for this goofy feature have had it happen to you also. ) It's a rainy dark day, you turn on the wipers, the headlights come on...that's good right..... but also the dash lights dim down to nighttime glow and you can't see the gauges or the radio readout! If Ford want's us to be safe and run with our lights on, why not just equip their vehicles with daytime running lights and spare us the goofy "headlights on with wipers" feature. Anyone else have this irritation??
  3. I'm not sure what your criteria for quiet is, but my 07 edge SE is not quiet. Coming out of a GM product, I was sorely disappointed with the suspension and tire noise of the EDGE. It does not seem to have an insulated suspension system that many cars today have. I too am older and like a quiet, smooth ride with a minimum of suspension noise.....the Edge does not measure up! Having said all of this, wind noise in the Edge is minimum, even in a nasty cross wind. I still won't buy another though!
  4. I've got 20k+ on my SE with Hankook's, and the tread and road noise is very irritating. It's get worse with miles. Very strange sounds on super smooth blacktop. Based on what I've read and heard, I don't think it's all tire noise. I think a lot of it is suspension noise. The Edge does not have an insulated ride that many of the vehicles today have. The undercarriage and suspension noise in my Edge is probably the biggest knock I have on the vehicle. It's just plane tacky. I won't buy another.
  5. I have an 07 Edge. (plain, not SE or SEL) I popped open the filter door as previously shown on the forum. NO PAPER TYPE FP65 FILTER....just a cleanable plastic screen filter..... I cleaned it and put it back in. Does the 07 non SE or SEL not have the FP65 type filter???
  6. 07 Edge................going on since it was brand new. It sounds as though I have something loose in the suspension, like a shock or strut. It's been checked every time I have it serviced, nothing found. This is not a severe sound, just subtle, and it seems to decrease as the vehicle is driven a few miles, like it the tires are hard when cold. (Hankooks) This Edge does not have a quite, smooth suspension system. Anyone have similar experiences???
  7. Try this........spray some oil on the door latch assembly. (The part that's in the door.) One way to prove it out first, is to drive very slow with the door held open about 2 inches. See if it stops. If it does, spray the latch.
  8. You were indeed correct. I sprayed some Slick 50 in the door latch mechanism and presto! Thank you for your insight and expertise.....
  9. Yes, it is more of creaking....kind of metal on metal or plastic sound. It seems to do it when the body flexes when going around a corner at slow speeds or over a speed bump in a parking lot. I can almost duplicate it by setting up the right scenario.
  10. I've got a nagging rattle in my 07 Edge. It sounds as though it's in the area of the front drivers side door lock or maybe in the drivers side seat belt retraction mechanism. I've had it checked by the dealer once already with no results. I'd like to be able to isolate it further before taking it in again so as to improve the odds of them finding it. Anyone had the same or similar issue?
  11. It sounds like a loose strut or shock......doesn't have to be a severe bump. In fact it is probably more when hitting just small bumps or cracks...
  12. No speed bumps. Just normal small or medium road cracks or parking lot stuff. Not extreme use stuff...I don't drive that way.
  13. 2007 Edge SE with about 10k miles on it....... From day one, I've been getting a "clunking" sound coming from my Edge when going over the right kind of bumps. It doesn't have to be big bump....just the right conditions do it. It's not severe, but annoying. It sounds like it could be a loose shock or strut. Dealer says he can't find anything wrong. Anyone having a similar experience???
  14. I've got an 07 Edge SE with the AM/FM Single CD satellite compatible sound system. I am satisfied with the overall quality of the system. One little nag: When playing MP3 Discs, I cannot get it to toggle through the folders on the MP3 disc when using the "Folder" buttons. It will only toggle though the individual selections one at a time when using the "Seek" buttons. The "Folder" buttons are basically dead! The MP3 Disc file structure is set up just a shown on page 38 of the Owners Guide. Has anyone had a similar experiene?
  15. Great, just what I need. I've been looking for the ignition hot wire, or better yet the accessory wire so I can hook up my Compass/Temp Mirror. Can you tell me what color I'm looking for???
