  1. They did not make money off of me. I paid $1,900 for the warranty, and the bill came way beyond that. I have my salesman to thank. Upon talking to him after this ordeal, he said "I'm just a car salesman, not an insurance salesman." "You bought a car with electronics and such, "sh*t happens." Shore enuiff, sh*t happened. So it goes.....
  2. I doubt they will cave since you did not purchase the extended warranty AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. Especially since they know you are having trouble with the sun roof. I will use the sunroof once a month just to keep it functional. Test of time, we shall see.
  3. My extended warranty covered replacing the motors and parts on my 2008 Edge sunroof. The total bill came to $2,400 plus they paid for my rental car for a week. My deductible for the warranty was $100. Not sure where you go the info where it is not covered.
  4. Got my Edge back today from the dealer. The total bill came to $2,440.00 plus $130 for the rental car. I had to pay a $100 deductible. I paid $1,900 for the extended warranty, so it looks like the warranty paid for itself. The sun roof and cover works perfectly - so far. We don't plan on opening it and using it that often. Saw our salesman and thanked him again for talking us into the purchasing the extended warranty.
  5. I stopped by the dealer today to find out about my car. The service rep said that more parts came in today - he said he had to order lots of parts! Don't know if he was BS'ing me, but he said that my car should be ready tomorrow. I sure hopeso and before I leave the dealer, I'm going to make sure that roof is working. We've never purchase an extended warranty until we saw what my son and my brother went through with their vehicles. My brother has already had 4 transmission replaced under the extended warranty. Lessons learned the hard way for some. I am sorry about your experience.
  6. My 2008 is at the Ford Dealers (since Monday) and they are having a heck of a time fixing the sun roof. I did purchase the extended warranty--we've only had the vehicle less than a month. The sun roof wouldn't even open, nor the cover to it. They claim that the motor burned out. So they are in process of replacing the motor- the vehicle has only 25,000 miles on it. Well now they say that the rails are binding the glass and the motor burned out again. Under the extended warranty, I am driving a rental car which they are paying for. I drove by the dealer today and the sunroof and shade is laying on top of my car upside down. So I am with you about the recall! I am thankful the car salesman talked us into the extended warranty. It was worth every penny.
  7. We purchased a used 2008 with the extended warranty. We've owned the vehicle just a very short while - not even a month. The sun roof opened when the salesperson was showing the vehicle to us. Two days later we tried to open the sun roof and it wouldn't open at all. We took it into the dealer and they had it a day. They had to order two motors for the sun roof and a new harness. It's still at the dealers because the sun roof and the header won't close and the rails bind the glass. We aren't sun roof people and the only reason we tried to open it was because my daughter drove it one weekend. Our warranty is paying for a rental car and hopefully we'll have the car back in a couple of days. I highly recommend people to get the extended warranty. We live in California where it gets very hot in the summer. The vehicle came out of Las Vegas where it gets extremely hot as well. I'll keep everyone here informed as to the outcome of the sun roof issue.
  8. Well it looks like they "think" the motors are out on the sun roof. So, come Monday, the car is back at the dealers to replace 2 motors on the sun roof and the "harness." All covered on the extended warranty minus the $100 deductible. The car has 25,000 miles on it, you woulda thunk the quirks would have showed up prior to this BTW, Ford is aware of the ongoing problem with this particular model and the sun roof not retracting back.
  9. We just purchased an 08 Edge with an extended warranty. Right away, we had trouble opening the sun roof. Took it to the dealer and they monkeyed with it for a day. They decided that the motor (2 motors?) weren't working. The dealer ordered the parts along with a harness and they admitted that this is a problem with the 08 Edge. Purchasing the extended warranty is already paying off. The parts came in the next day and I'm scheduled for the fix Monday. The dealer said they would have to have the car for the greater part of the day.
  10. We purchased a used 2008 Edge along with the extended warranty. I'm glad we purchased the extended warranty as the sun roof on the very first attempt to open it, it would not open. It's at the dealer's right now getting fixed. I found this forum when searching for the Edge sun roof. This looks like a good place to get info on the Edge. Our prior car was a Mercury Mountaineer (1999) which got totaled in an accident in May. So far we're very happy with the Edge.
