Hello,I have a 2017 mkx. Behind the passenger side door rear window, the larger black (plastic?) window trim piece seems discolored. Is it easy for service to fix or do they have to take apart half the door trim to replace it?Thanks

1) Hot air rises so this might be normal.
Is it possible to 'reboot' just the climate system with a certain fuse pull?
I have a couple of annoying issues with the heating system on my 2011 Mkx. Hoping someone with Mkx or Edge can confirm if this is normal behaviour.
1) When HVAC system is set to auto, the air only blows from the lower vents and never from the top so my feet end up being way too hot and upper body is cold. Not sure if this is by design or malfunction
2) Outside air temp displayed is off by 10-15 degrees Celsius after engine starts. Temps outside will be around -5 degrees Celsius but display will show around +8 to 10 degrees Celsius after engine start. It will drop a degree or so every minute and after about 5 minutes of driving will drop to actual outside air temp. This causes remote start to not engage the heater or the heated seat, steering wheel automatically. Not sure if this requires firmware update to fix this or if senor is faulty.
Would appreciate if someone can let me know if this is normal or not since this is my first winter with the vehicle and the two behaviour above seems odd to me.

I don't really use remote start but I set Heater/AC to 'last setting'. This did not help.
Thanks
c_bova: Appreciate your clarification on Remote Start/Climate settings. Found that setting as you described and checked the box using left-side steering wheel controls.Jimmkx2k11: Drove MKX the 10-miles minimum, as recommended in Owner Guide for reteaching computer after a battery disconnect or battery replacement.
TOUCH screen Battery Saver message at engine shutdown disappeared after vehicle was driven & sat in garage overnight.
Upon engine start-up, Climate settings now default to AUTO on TOUCH screen, but Center Stack AUTO control pad light is not lit.
Peculiar thing is TOUCH screen will show prior Climate settings with ignition power on before attempting engine start, but Climate immediately switches to the AUTO default when engine starts.
Good luck!

Hi,
After the 3.5.1 update, when I say 'navigate destionation home', the center stack does not automatically show the map/route home. It used to.
A home location is saved. If I say 'map', it functions like before.
Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for verifying.
Do you by chance remember if your climate unit was on or off when you performed the 3.5.1 update?
jimmkx2k11: I understand your '11 MKX is running SYNC update V3.5.1, the same as my '12 MKX.I have my Climate settings just as you describe.
Several days ago, with the engine running and Climate on Full AUTO with center stack switch pad lit, I used the MyLincoln TOUCH screen to set the air distribution path to Floor, which caused the Auto descriptor to appear only above plus-minus fan speed on the screen and the AUTO control light on the center stack to be extinguished, consistent with the photos I previously posted.
Earlier today when I drove my MKX -- and just now after reading your post, I verified -- that climate setting is sticking/enduring and does not require any re-setting in my MKX after the vehicle is restarted.
I cannot say if there is a difference in the endurance of a Climate setting adjustment made with the engine running, versus the same adjustment made with the engine not running & MyLincoln TOUCH activated using the Entertainment power button beneath the Volume slider control.
But, I made all my Climate adjustments with the engine running and the Climate settings stick/endure whenever I restart my MKX.
Good luck!

Well, from 'full' auto, I touch floor vent , fan indicator area switches to auto (full auto mode goes off) but the next time I start the vehicle, the floor and auto fan are not engaged.
The AUTO climate function on my MKX has always behaved like you describe, regardless of which SYNC/MyFord-MyLincoln TOUCH update version has been installed, the latest of which is V3.5.1.From the 2013 Edge Owner's Guide - AUTO: Press the button to turn on fully automatic operation. Select the desired temperature using the temperature control. The system automatically determines fan speed, air distribution, A/C operation, and outside or recirculated air, to heat or cool the vehicle to maintain the selected temperature.
The control design doesn't deactivate AUTO by pushing the AUTO button a second time, whether on the center stack or on the MyFord TOUCH screen.
Full deactivation of AUTO occurs only via the Climate TOUCH screen by manually selecting a fan speed setting and air distribution path.
Good luck! -
Before the 3.5.1 update, I used auto fan (not full auto) with floor vent on.
Now, if I set the above and turn the mkx off and back on, auto fan is not selected, floor vent is not selected but 'auto' is on in the touchscreen but not on the center stack.
Was fine with 3.2.2.
Anyone else experience this?
Thanks

Seems to be fixed now.
Thanks

I hope the new update won't take 45-60 minutes just to put back the temp.

Does this test mode work on Edge/MKX? Does it do anything useful?

Were you testing on 2013 model year hardware or 2011 model year hardware. Is there a difference?
As an employee of Ford I was given an opportunity to try the new MFT systems. Let me start off by saying everybody will be VERY pleased. The new systems is unbelievably faster, the voice system is instant, they changed the climate features for the dual zone there is no more swinging, The new navigation system is great with its new updates and 3D mapping. The font is now bigger and easier to read, The new release date they say which could change is now end of March into April. I was very pleased myself with how they changed the system and you will be to. I know they keep changing the dates but believe me it is worth the wait.

Does anyone know if the upcoming update will change anything on the left and right screens? (ie. font size for temperature since it will be missing from the center screen?)
Thanks

I received the post card also. no mention of a navigation card eh?
it is coming soon .just received a post card from ford yesterday stating the new mft upgrade is coming soon.

Hi,
The 'low rpm' setting you speak of means you have quiet start set to on?
Thanks
Exactly - I've tried both just for shits and giggle, difference in idle speed seems to about 300rpm or so. Have it on the low rpm setting now.

If I jump to http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/forum/34-ford-sync-specific-forum/
text does not seem to centered in IE.
If it works with Firefox and Chrome but not IE then it must be an IE problem.

Hello,
Is it me or is the text in each column (forum, stats, last post info) and the text in the body of each post centered on this site?
The ford sync forum is not centered for me.
I have not experienced this in any other forum website.
Thanks

I'm sure 'we' will have to go to our fine stealership to get this update. May be able to download it but probably will not get sent a USB stick send via mail.
'We' don't count...example: less SYNC features than USA
Quote from letter.
Early next year, owners located in the U.S. will be mailed a USB flash drive with the software
upgrade for installation that they can do at their own convenience. If they prefer, owners may
also visit their local Ford or Lincoln dealer for the software installation. The upgrade mailing will
include instructions informing owners how to simply plug the USB flash drive into the MyFord
Touch Media Hub’s USB port in order for installation to automatically begin.
Does anyone know what the plan is for Canadian Vehicles ?

Hello,
I have a 2011 MKX.
Is the oil filter visible from the top or bottom of the engine. If so, roughly where is it located? Is it blocked by a panel?
Where is the oil drain plug located?
Thanks

For the moon roof:
One push opens the shade all the way
The next push opens the glass half way
The next push opens the glass all the way
From this position, one pull closes the glass half way
The next pull you hold until the glass closes
The next pull closes the shade half way
The next pull you hold to entirely close the sunshade.
I understand that on older models in order to close (and maybe open) the sunroof only a single press on the button is required other than holding it down to close the last 6" or so. On my 2011 MKX I have to constantly press the button to fully open and close it (and also to open and close the sunshade). Always struck me as an unnecessary driver distraction. Did Ford change it for this model year or is there something wrong with mine?

Hi,
I don't think the Edge has any sort of cooled seats. The MKX does.
The benefit I see for myself on the 2012 MKX is the deletion of the 20" wheels from the top options package (102A), knocking the price down almost $1000. I like the look of the smaller polished 18". Too bad they didn't go for a heated and cooled rear seat option like in the MKT. It would have further differentiated the MKX from the Edge.

Just ordered.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the review.
Do you have a part number so I know what to avoid?
Thanks again.
I know this is very piddly but it is a thorn in my side. My 2011 MKX has the cheapest plastic cargo cover I have ever seen. To secure the cover (which is, literally, a cheap piece of plastic type material, kind of like very bad faux leather) you have to slide the attached elastic bands over the rear seat headrests and then you have to cram plastic hooks between the rear side windows and inside plastic panel to secure the side of the cover. At the trunk end you secure the cover with elastic cords on the same hooks that the cargo netting attaches to. With the cargo cover in place you can not put the rear seats down because the elastic bands are attached to the headrest. I am completely disappointed that Ford/Lincoln would stoop to such a shoddy design and material. Do any of you with the Edge have a cargo cover and, if so, it is the same type material and process to "instal"?
I am so annoyed that I FINALLY have a luxury vehicle and it has Yugo accessories!

Is the 2015 MKX really Generation II? I thought 2016 was the first year for MKX Gen II?
Thanks
